Arrived on 11th March after a 150 mile car journey. Staff a bit sparse but it was Mother's Day lunchtime so only to be expected. The rest of the time, there was always someone available and I can honestly say the members of staff were always cheerful and friendly. They seemed to be multi tasking, very efficiently. There were plenty of comfy seating areas and everywhere was very clean (I always look for dustwebs on light fittings and out of the way places but didn't see any). Our room was clean, the bed was comfy and the en suite was roomy with nice shampoo etc. Not a vast food choice in the restaurant but nicely cooked and good flavour, much more important than choice. A little niggle, no lift at all but this wasn't mentioned (that I could see) on the website. We were on the 2nd floor so quite a number of stairs but fortunately they're not steep stairs and there is handrail for most of the way up. This is only because I have arthritic knees - if I'd had sense, I would've rung before we went to see where our room was. A couple of safety things I'm surprised about but they've obviously been checked and cleared - one door opens onto the stairs and the 1st step is only just through the door. I'm unsure why the door doesn't open onto the corridor. The other thing was in our room, Teal. As you walk in, the fire safety info and outlay of hotel, fire escapes etc is on the wall, hung sideways. This would be okay if it was actually legible but without quite a powerful magnifying glass, there's not a hope of reading it. The writing is possibly a mm high! On the whole a lovely stay, bought for us as a Christmas gift. Weather was rubbish on our 1 full day there, nothing could be done about that, so we stayed in and my other half enjoyed the fact that he didn't need drive at all that day. He thrashed me at billiards - twice - and we sat reading newspapers or books and playing cards. I don't think we'll be back but that's no reflection on the hotel, just not our choice of break as we'd tend to go for a city. Collapse

We received a gift voucher for Christmas and after visiting GP in the summer we had no hesitation in selecting this venue for our afternoon tea. Warm greeting by both the Groundsman clearing a path through the snow and reception staff. Taken though to the conservatory and again a warm welcome with full explination of our choices. Tea piping hot and strong (as I like it) sandwiches, all fresh and good levels of filling. Scones, baked perfectly, super light centres plus proper clotted cream. Nice selection of cakes too. Overall, superb, relaxing afternoon with fantastic views over the grounds. Highly recommended. Collapse

We had two nights at Grinkle Park Hotel in February (second visit) and had a really super couple of days The hotel itself was cosy and staff very welcoming. We had a classic room which was very acceptable although it needed a bit of updating, however, it was very comfortable and warm. There were log fires in the main lounges, constantly topped up by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a marvellous, relaxing time. The food in the restaurant was extremely good. We had dinner on both nights and each time it was excellent. Compliments to the chef! On arrival and after unpacking, we decided to relax in one if the snug lounges where we were brought tea and biscuits and spent an enjoyable afternoon reading before changing for dinner. We were given a complimentary glass of gin and tonic before our meal as we relaxed in the bar, which was a very nice touch. Although all the staff were brilliant , I do have to mention one particular young lady, Nicole, who went out of her way to make our stay more enjoyable. She is a credit to the company. We shall have no hesitation in going back to Grinkle park and, indeed, trying more of the Group's hotels. Collapse
