Got back here last week after a weeks stay from 8th - 15th February. Cant fault the staff or the look of the hotel itself, it is very well presented, clean etc but there is really very little to do in the hotel - for kids or adults. There are some 'crazy games' during the day organised by 2 of the staff members but aside from that there is nothing apart from sitting beside the pool all day. One table tennis table, which was always occupied and two pool tables that could only be accessed in Pepes Bar between the hours of 9pm and 2am on a Friday and Saturday night, is just not enough for a hotel this size. Maybe a heated pool wouldnt go a miss either, espeically at this time of year seeing as the pool area spends more than half the day in the shade. Kids enjoyed the mini disco after dinner every night and the Flamenco dancing and magician was good one night but other than those the entertainment was below par. We went all inclusive and I have to say I wasnt impressed with the food on offer. No real variety in the main buffet area and similarly in La Gioconda restaurant it was pretty much the same only it wasnt as packed either at lunchtime or the one dinner time we reserved. Food was nice but eating mostly the same stuff everyday gets boring. I dont think we would bother staying again although we loved the area itself, a 20 minute walk to the beach, bus stop just up the street to get to Benalmadena for the day or the train station is 10 minutes away to go a bit further to Fuengirola or to Malaga itself. The rooms werent much to write home about either but if its simply somewhere to lay your head for the night its ok. One last thing I would say and I dont know if its simply about the time of the year but the bars are seriously understaffed especially at the weekend when half of Spain seemed to descend on the place. Oh! And dont go all inclusive just for the alcohol, I've had bottled water stronger than the stuff they put in the cocktails. Lord knows how many of those you would have to drink to actually get tipsy! Collapse
Let down by groups of "teenagers" on school trips taking over

Stayed at the Griego Feb 11th-17th 2018, So first the good :- Great location, just a short walk (approx 10mins) from the train station at Torremolinos which is on the airport line. Staff worked hard throughout, bars manned and occasional small queue but nothing to worry about. Food at breakfast and dinner plentiful and hot which is good for a buffet style restaurant especially when staying all-inclusive. Room big enough and cleaned daily, good view over the pool area , no sea view as this hotel is off the front and behind the main centre of Torremolinos. English channels on TV althou signal sometimes broke up (bbc1. ITV ch4) Booked through Jet2 holidays so had transfer to and from hotel from airport, desk inside reception with tour operator books and info if needed. So now the bad (unfortunately) :- Maybe because it was “off” season there were numerous groups (at least 3) of school kids/teenagers/sport group german and french mainly that over-ran the restaurant at meal times. They pushed past guests and even when a guest approached one of the teachers they just laughed and did not seem to believe the guest even when another stuck up for the original guests complaint. I spoke to reception after dinner, but they just confirmed "they had lots of groups in" The main restaurant is too small for a full hotel to eat comfortably either at breakfast or dinner, but when you add in groups it felt like eating in a school canteen. There is a second restaurant “La Gioconda” which I had to book a table for as it wasn’t open every night and was not used at breakfast time. Here is a idea for management - use LA Gioconda for group breakfasts, in fact the hotel management need to consider if having more than 1 large group in the hotel at a time is a good idea, it might bring revenue, but it annoys the other “full” paying hotel guests. I am also assuming that it was these groups that found it necessary to slam the bedroom doors constantly. early in the morning and late at night. Again another point the management should look at as the bedroom doors had no slow close feature like most hotels would/should have. The 2 small lifts (2 in each building) are far too small and slow for the hotel, althou not helped when they stop at every floor due to buttons pressed by kids for fun. Along with the groups, there were small children playing around the lifts (with toy guns ! in this day I’m surprised parents think this is acceptable) with no supervision from parents who were no where to be seen in the area, and due to the location of the lifts only people using the lifts see them. The free wi-fi was next to useless, when you could connect it was slow - in fact when out and about in Malaga centre McDonalds wi-fi was super fast , which is where hotel wi-fi needs to be. So if you have read this far maybe it was just a bad week, and sadly the bad out weighed the good on this stay. Management need to seriously think about what they want to offer for a 3/4* hotel, I would even suggest converting to a adults only hotel. At the end of the day I would stay again because the staff/food/cleanliness are spot on, but I don’t go on holiday to eat in a “school canteen” ! Collapse
Such a shame

Me and my partner booked this hotel for our birthday (both on the same day) the day after arriving my partner went to speak to the reception to notify them of our birthday on the 13th to see if there was anything that they could arrange which they agreed that that there would and a bottle would be left in our room on the morning of our birthday. (Baring in mind this was 5 days prior) came back to the hotel room later on that afternoon to find out that they forgot so my partner rang to be told they wasnt told anything and would do a cake but we would be charged 9 euros! Seeing as this was the only option my partner agreed but was refusing to pay we were sent to speak to the head waiter to find out that they wasn't told to do a cake (which reception rang as we were at the counter) and that the best they could do was take a cake off the display and put a candle in! Wasn't impressed so went back and finally got a birthday cake . Such a shame that they don't communicate with one another well seeing as it is a lovely hotel but the only other thing we disliked was that we were on a corridor of school children who loved making so much noise no matter what time of day it was .. even thought it was funny when the security guy went to speak to them. we were told they were supervised which clearly seemed differently as I know we were never allowed to act like they did when going away with school! . We are gutted that this happened on such a important holiday for the both of us so from now on we will be enquiring with the hotel if there is any large bookings of children etc. As we were treated very differently to the Spanish residents of the hotel and the children even in the bars. You couldn't even go for a meal without being pushed them jumping in or your chair being barged into .. (1 rule for certain residents and another for the Spanish) Collapse

Stayed from the 8th of Feb until the 16th There was 7 of us so three of my family members were in a room and I was in a room with my parents and brother.when we went to the first room for the three people the card didn't work so my father had to go back to reception and they didn't want to give him another key so they gave us another room it worked then my parents my brother and I went to our room my mum is in a wheel chair and the room was tiny it was squared and. Have a double bed and two single beds cramped into a room the to single beds were head to head blocking the balcony door my dad then went back down to reception and complained our room was to small so they moved us to the other side of the hotel and we got a lovely spacious room The lifts are way to small the hotel was very busy and sometimes we had to wait as long as 10 minutes for a lift There was always a que for everything including dinner There was a massive group of school kids late teens always pushed in at lunch and dinner and got away with it my farther even said the end of the que is down there just they just laughed Shame there isn't a indoor pool my family were disappointment because we all brought swimming costumes to go swimming but the outdoor pool was to cold There's was some kids in rooms near us and they always made noise blasting music loud ect Cleaners were excellent Restaurant staff were superb there was one guy I don't know he's name but he worked really had and was always sweating he was so friendly to my family Bar staff were nice but they only had 1/2 people on so there was always a que Ramps were way to steep outside my dad struggled getting my mum up in her wheelchair and going down is dangerous as its not. Far from the pool It was a shame the wifi was poor because on the tele at night there was only three English channels and me and my brother were to young for some of the programs it would be good if there as more English channels child friendly Of the wifi was better we would have watched tele on our iPads There was a stair lift in the lounge which was good but little kids would play on it thinking it was a game and they didn't seem to get told off by reception staff one time we had to walk my mother down the steps because 4/5 kids were playing with the lift what would make the rooms better is if they had mini fridges, a bin in the room for plastic cups ect as we either used the bathroom bin or had to walk to the lift to put stuff in the bin also a kettle and 2 mugs, tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar and milk because some people wake up early like 5/6 in the morning and my parents fancied a cup of tea but couldn't have one also late at night if u don't fancy walking to the bar just for a tea you could just make on in your room My dad asked if having a kittle was possible and they said no but. It would be much better if they could have kettles in the room Collapse
