Although the bathroom could have done with a refurb the room was large, clean and the bed very comfortable. Asked for a quiet room and got, 1 at the back. Car park good for a city centre hotel. Hotel in easy walking distance to the Alhambra. See more

Went for afternoon tea. Booked in person but turned up to no booking! Had to wait ages for food which was disappointing. Sandwiches nice and fresh, but a tea cup full of cream with some jam at the bottom? The disabled loo was unacceptable. The waste bin had no lid and the pedal that would have controlled a lid was broken. The water , even when tap fully open, barely flowed. Loo roll balanced behind the user..... disabled toilet! We booked a wedding package that included the ceremony the wedding breakfast and right through to the disco and supper. Everything was perfect, we couldn't have done anything better. Everything ran like clockwork. The staff were brilliant and the wedding co-ordinator chrissie was fantastic. Guests were coming up to me saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a stress free wedding day . Thank you to all at the Great Victoria you all helped in making my daughters wedding day the special occasion it deserved to be. After perusing the compare websites ect for a hotel to stay. We decided on staying at the Great Victoria. The rwviews were a mixed bag. But we thought what the heck, and booked it. I rang to reserve the room. Was told the price, gave card details just to reserve the room. Saying i would pay for the room upon arrival. I was given no other info during this conversation. Anyway we arrived early evening and was greeted by a lovely friendly young lady. Then she dissapeared into the office and a younger gent took over. We went through our reservation details, ect. Then we were told if paying by cash they required a £50 deposit. We would recieve this back upon checking out. Once our room was checked.Luckily we did have enough cash on us for this. My gripe was, we were not told this important imformation upon booking. The young man informed us the lady who took our reservation often does not give guests this important info. Well ermmm if it is a recurring happening. Surely it should have been addressed already. We had i need to point out booked a double room. Eg 2 persons DOUBLE BED. However upon arriving at our room. We saw that is was indeed 2 single beds just pushed together, and not the double bed we expected. Also the window catch was broken. So my husband went down to reception to tell them of our dissatisfaction of the room. The young man on reception tried to tell my husband that we had indeed got a double room. His attitude was dire and not very professional at all. When another member of staff(duty manager) joined in the conversation. He was asked did no one want the TWIN ROOM. He said oh no they didn't. This was after telling my husband it was a double room. So very untrue, and unprofessional for not telling the truth. After some discussion we were upgraded too another room. Although this was a better room. It too was not with out it's faults. The lampshade on the bedside lamp was very damaged and one of the tiles on the bathroom area was cracked in several places. Also the tiles in the bathroom had been repaired. Not too a very good standard either as they were very uneven. The shower although should have been like a waterfall style shower. Was more like a rainfall in June. Not that impressive really. So after a quite nice sleep. We went down for breakfast. This was very plentiful and tasty. There was also an amazing choice for vegitairians. Upon checking out. The young lady was as welcoming as a cold tin of beans. We told her we checking out. She took our room cards and said that was it. Well ermm no it was not. There was still the matter of our £50 deposit still. My husband told her of this. Told her we had been told the room would be checked and we would be then given it back. Nonchalantly she shrugged and just gave us our money back. No, customer interaction. "Did you enjoy your stay, was everything ok ect" hence my reference to as much care as a cold tin of beans. So were we impressed by this hotel. Well obviously not. I have stayed in other hotels in Bradford. That cost a lot less money. Yet recieved a much higher standard of room. Collapse

I saw the Festive Afternoon Tea advertised to booked it for today so I could meet a friend for a catch up and Christmas present exchange. At £9 per person I did not expect much but we were pleasantly surprised! We had a box with a selection of teas, a selectiin if sandwiches including turkey & stuffing, salmon & cream cheese, cheese & tomato and ham & mustard. The mince pies and scones with clotted cream were were to die for and the many minature chocolate cakes & treats were plentiful and delicious. In fact there was so much we didn't manage to eat it all. The staff were polite and attentive, nithing was too much trouble and the atmosphere was relaxed. Despite there being a number of Christmas lunches going on throughout the Hotel that afternoon we were not rushed and spent a good couple of hours chatting - Loved it! Collapse
