We only stayed one night bit, contrary to some other reviews, we actually had a pretty good experience here. We had a room on the first floor and could find very little to fault it. The room was a good size and very airy with a huge bathroom. Décor was new and well co-ordinated and furnishings pleasant without being anything special. The bed was large and really comfortable although the pillows weren't the best. There was secondary glazing installed which worked brilliantly to keep out street noise from the main road. two issue I could raise on the room itself; firstly, it wasn't madly warm on arrival (early evening) although was much better in the morning and, secondly, the carpet was very marked and grubby. The hotel itself is a magnificent building from the Victorian era, clearly built to serve the adjacent railway. There hotel retains many original internal fittings and fitments but is very well decorated in a contemporary style. The internal woodwork etc. has had its inevitable share of ear and tear over the decades but the decorations are very well maintained non the less. Location is superb, city centre and just across the road from the rail station. There is free private parking, which was great, but we did have problems finding our way in. The hotel actually backs onto Bridge Street which is the main vehicular approach and this threw us a bit. You need to turn left onto Drake Street immediately before the hotel (if you get to the hotel you've missed it) and then first right to the hotel main entrance and the car park is ahead on the right. We went around the block 3 times before we worked it our and there was another car struggling to find it so it wasn't just us. Breakfast was a pretty good buffet and plentiful, with choices of toast, cereals and full English cooked options. Fruit and yoghurts were also available but less inspiring. Collapse

Attended a 'Hollywood' themed party night function for my works xmas dinner. 3 couse dinner fairly average. Entertainment and disco good. Room was very very hot though. Got to bed about 1.30am. Fire alarm went off around 2am. Then quickly switched off. Room nice, little noisey, shower hot and powerful. Breakfast this morning was poor. The room was messy, tables not cleared. Kept running off out breakfast items. Didnt seem like there was any ownership by staff. Overall an average night at best Collapse

We booked a 4th floor room which is suppose to be pretty plush, it wasn't plush or nice at all, the furniture was chipped, no mirror in the room, lamp which in my view was dangerous in that the connection was faulty. The shower had one knob to use with all 3 appliances and it was basically like having a pair of pliers to each knob to work the shower. I got in and had to use the knob and the shower was freezing cold until you worked out how to turn the temperature up, horrible experience, didn't bother with a shower in the morning after my experience the night before. Pulled out a cabinet to find a plug socket near the bathroom so I could use the bathroom mirror to use the hairdryer and behind the cabinet looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a decade. The breakfast was incredibly poor, probably the worst I have seen. It was cold with no fried eggs and the scrambled looked awful. This hotel is probably one of the worst I have seen, it definitely needs updating and rooms refurbishing, if the knobs have come off the showers, replace them - don't just leave a knob on the holder and expect people to struggle!!! All in all not a great experience and not one I would recommend. Collapse

We have used the Great Victoria before for team activities during the day and have always had a good experience so, based on the website photos I booked two rooms for an overnight work stay with another colleague. Central with free parking and a really good price. We got booked in and went up to our rooms, the rooms we had were not what was advertised on the many booking websites. Brown and dark, the toilet was making a lot of noise and the bath was filthy - don't know how long since it had been cleaned. I also had an adjoining room - I could hear the chap next door opening the zip on his suitcase and sneezing throughout the night. An awful nights sleep. My colleague had swapped rooms already at this point as she had stains on the carpet, over the bedside lamp, most of the bulbs out on the main light and no blind at the bathroom window to a point where a man at the bus stop opposite had waved at her - thankfully before she went to the loo! I went to reception to ask for a change but there were a number of people waiting to decided to stay. The bedsheets were clean and the bed comfy. The bar area was nice and comfy, food OK but poor service, we weren't offered any dessert menus or drinks so moved back into the bar. All in all a massive disappointment. I would certainly check beforehand that you are offered a room to the standard of that which is advertised on the websites. I appreciate it was slow price but there is still an expectation of a certain standard of cleanliness and care. Collapse

I stopped at this hotel whilst I attended a show at the Alhambra theatre. The location was very good - pretty much central to Bradford and only a five minute walkk from the theatre. Also the car parking was free though it is limited. Thhe staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was comfortable though I would say some aspects of it were tired. I wasn't too put off by this as depending when you stay between refurbs you'll probably get this at most hotels. The room was large, clean and quiet. Collapse
