We brought our family to the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria about 7 years ago and we came back with our family and friends for this trip. It was even better than I remember. The rooms were beautifully appointed with spectacular views. The breakfast was phenomenal - elegant buffet spread with some of the most delicious homemade breads/pastries, egg station and juice bar. The pool is spacious and relaxing and the staff was incredibly attentive - proactively adjusting our umbrella as the sun moved! And all you need to do is walk out the garden path and you are right in the middle of all the action in Sorrento. The concierge was also extremely helpful with recommendation and booked a full day Amalfi Coast boat trip that was one of the highlights of our vacation. I highly recommend this hotel. Collapse

Today, in Sorrento, we had lunch on the terrace at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. We left the busy square and walked down a wide path, under leafy arches, flanked by trees and plants - an oasis of peace and quiet, as was the hotel when we stepped in the spacious entrance. We were directed to the terrace where a ‘light lunch’ was offered. Tables were beautifully set with white table-cloths and the view was simply magnificent. My Salad Nicoise was one of the best I’ve ever had with little touches such as olives wrapped in anchovies. The pasta with shellfish in a seafood broth was also very good. The lemon and orange sorbets and the limoncello were most enjoyable. The service was professional but very friendly. We would love to return to this hotel and terrace restaurant. Collapse

From the moment you drive on the grounds, your every need to taken care of. The staff mysteriously all seem to know your name and address you as you come and go. The pool service was incredible. The staff made sure you had shade or sun, your towels were straightened and drinks were served with a smile and. Aqualung friendly conversation. The rooms were amazing, and the maid service was incredible. Of all the hotels we visited this trip to Italy, Hotel Excelsior definitely ranked as our top choice. We loved everything about the hotel from the well manicured grounds, incredible staff and accommodations. We loved our visit and will definitely return. We wish we didn't have to leave. Collapse

We stayed at the hotel during peak season, in a partial sea view suite. The room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was one of the best things I've ever experienced, the room was grand with stunning painted ceilings, fantastic sea views, a live pianist and the most delicious selection of food, coffee and juices. The pool facilities were superb and the basic gym does the job. The surrounding gardens on the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and very calming. There is a convenient private lift for guests which goes directly to the harbour which saves a lot of time. The michelin starred restaurant serves interesting and exciting Mediterranean cuisine. My wife and I traveled to Sorrento in April and split our time between the Excelsior Vittoria and another 5* hotel in town. The Excelsior Vittoria was absolutely fantastic and was one of the best resorts we have stayed in. If you are deciding between this hotel and other 5* hotels in town (as I did and researched ad nauseum) - stop your research and stay here. Room: We had booked a base room but were upgraded to a room on the top floor with a view of the bay. Absolutely fantastic view! While you could tell the room hadn't been updated/renovated since probably the mid-90's (it was still nice, don't get me wrong) the view made everything worth it. Location: Right smack dab in the center of the city, which is perfect as you can walk to everywhere in 10 minutes or so. The best part though is that the grounds are an oasis of calm - its set back from the main street so you really feel like you are at an oasis. The hotel also had an elevator to take you down to the harbor level, which was fantastic and saved us so much time! Amenities: Everything was fantastic. We didn't use the pool because it was too cool, but went and it was a fantastic layout. My wife also said the spa was amazing. The breakfast buffet was great. We also ate at the Michelin star restaurant, which was fantastic as well. The best part though was just being able to sit at one of the tables on the terrace and admire the view over the Bay of Naples. Service: Absolutely amazing. The concierges were very helpful in helping us with dinner and tour reservations. Everyone also learned our names (somehow - its not like this is a small hotel!) and greeted us personally throughout our stay. In short - fantastic hotel. This is where we will return to when we are back in Sorrento, hands down. Collapse
