We booked this hotel with an open mind considering some of the reviews. How delighted we were when we arrived we were greeted with a warm and genuine welcome, the check in staff were very efficient but with a personal touch. Our rooms we're both great, recently refurbished and everything about the hotel was clean and tidy. The hotel has quite a bit of history to it and the hall in the first floor is both grand and artistic. It's a 20 second walk to the beach with there are some amazing casual dining experiences, many of them, we can get some great food and watch the Sun go down. All the staff we met were very helpful and positive, there is definitely a new leader/ manager around as I couldn't have felt more welcome and when I needed some help with a small issue, that was of my own doing, the concierge sorted it out in no time. As someone who travels a lot for business I tend to very picky and expect a lot- the Kurhaus didn't let me down. Collapse

This is a beautiful hotel looking in from the front entrance and from the beach. The interior is very grand also but seems very wide open and with a lot of unused space. It would be nice to be able to go sit in a lobby area with seats and maybe music. The rooms are nice, seems like the carpets were a little tired and could use some updating, but very nice space. My only complaint was that when we asked the front desk for help, the answers didn't seem to be the correct info. It was a nice experience in a pretty setting. Collapse

Wow, where to start? We stayed here a few times over the past years and came back for a 1 night stay. Valet was very poor, we waited for quite some time and were told to check in first and the car would be dealt with later. Check in was swift and smooth and rooms were made available at 11.30am for check in, great. F&B offering has clearly gone backwards. Empty Kurzaal, fine dining disappeared etc etc. Waves restaurant service was hideous, waited outside for almost 10 minutes being completely ignored by a short waitress with long black hair. I had to go inside to be explained that service is only provided on the lower terrace and was smiled at. We moved down and then again service was so so, a waiter with long hair tried to pick up the slack, but damage had been done. We will go outside for remaining drinks & food. This was our last visit and we will no longer recommend this hotel. Usually staff can make the difference in a hotel or outlet, unfortunately in this case they sure did... Collapse

For many years I lived next to this hotel, therefore when I left the hague i thought i would spend the last nights in the Kurhaus. What a disappointment.! It all started with a relatively unwelcoming check-in experience, long queue (very long queue), no smile when eventually reaching the desk, and relatively robotic check-in process. How could a lady, at peak check-in hour, be alone at the check in desk and answering the phone in priority on the top of that. The lifts were not operational, therefore i had to climb the 4 floors with the luggages and three young children around me. No-one to help or assist. We booked interconnected rooms for 3+2 including 1 extra bed. i called 2 days earlier and same day lunch time to ensure beds would be ready. When we arrived late, the extra bed was not installed, the interconnecting doors closed. I went back to the reception, ask about the extra bed ASAP and went for late dinner with the kids. When back, 1h later, the extra bed was still not installed. I went back to the reception, faced and agressive lady and eventually called for a manager that sorted out the issue at the end. The check out was the same experience. Long, long queue, then not happy to see that they tried to add an extra cost for the extra bed, despite the original quote received for the hotel showing no extra cost for 5. In a busy morning, the lady "welcoming" people for breakfast literally forced us to have breakfast in a ugly room with no windows, probably because we were a family of 5. 20 second later, 4 persons from the middle east were welcomed in the main bright room. We decided not to go to the "bunker" room and found a table in the main room. The waitress literally run after us to force our way back to the bunker room. I had to intervene a little be more strongly just to have the right to have breakfast with the other guests. Bottom line: the hotel has a certain form of past prestige and grandeur, with a service completely inadequate to the place. At his point, it soul be a management problem, probably not of the top of the situation. We booked for 5 nights, we attend 4 nights and will probably never go back again. Collapse

We visited the Kurhaus in 2005 while escaping from a boring tour. What a "find"! The bar was exquisite, service was stellar, and the adventure was one I'll always remember! The bar was one of the art deco style where the bartender is about three feet below the bar. If only those beautiful walls could talk: from 1885-1964, I'm sure there are thousands of memories of the rich and famous as well as newly weds and couples and families on a "special holiday". The interior of any of the public spaces was so grand and the essence of elegance...and there we were, having a cocktail. We returned in 2017 and while still a very chic Hotel, and still very grand, the spirit of the old Kurhaus was gone. The bar had been redesigned - and not for the better - but at least they saved some of the beautiful photos of celebrities who had either performed or stayed at the Kurhaus as guests (I've attached a photo). Among the few old relics on the internet is UTube video of the notorious 1964 Rolling Stones concert at the Kurhaus where pandemonium broke out...glad I was able to enjoy a shred of the old grandeur before the modernization!
