As the name suggests, this is really a grand Hotel in Stockholm. The service is fantastic. We stayed there for 2 nights as part of official conference. Rooms are large and spacious. Bathrooms are really good with very large bath tub and nice bathing area. The amenities in the rooms and bathroom are of excellent quality. Beds offer excellent sleep and this is a comfortable hotel to stay in. The gym is well equipped and opens from 6 AM on weekdays. The spa has a heated pool and again service is world class. The breakfast spread was also good and they could also give Assam Tea which was a surprise. Overall a great place to stay.. Collapse

Forget about all the gimmicks and trends of the modern luxury hotel class. The Stockholm Grand Hotel has been housing discriminating guests and luminaries since 1874 and have mastered the fine art of fine accommodations. Making everything appear simple and elegant, they capture the true ideal of seamless luxury. The staff is friendly, efficient, and highly trained. Their focus on guaranteeing customer satisfaction is so much in the nature of the hotel that one does not need to ask. Even our request for a different room (the first was closer to the main elevator than we prefer) was met cheerfully by the shift manager who reviewed every available option on the hotel's floor plan to find the correct class of room and view that met our needs). The rest of the staff - concierge, door staff, restaurants, spa, housekeeping, etc. - all offered the same high level of support and attentiveness to guests. The hotel sits directly across the canal from the royal palace and offers excellent views of the water and city. It offers several dining options, including the Michelin-recognized Maltbaren on site. The spa is full service; beautifully outfitted and maintained; and offers sauna / cold plunge, steam room, whirlpool and warm pool facilities to all guests. The rooms on floors 1 through 4 have been recently beautifully renovated. Although we stayed in a 5th floor, unrenovated room (voluntary change as noted above), the older rooms were also well appointed, beautifully decorated, and in excellent repair (most other properties would not consider these rooms in need of renovation). The beds (a special design for the hotel called Dex-beds) are incredibly comfortable. As this is a luxury hotel, I should mention the few things that did not go perfectly for us, both for the benefit of guests more critical than I and to highlight how the hotel responded. First of all, the rooms on the front of the hotel have window awnings that automatically raise and lower to control light intrusion into the room - ours did not function, nor did the push-button controls operate. We did not consider this a big problem, however, since sun was not very oppressive during the time of our visit. We had an issue with the bath tub drain not holding water. A call to customer service had a technician in the room within 5 minutes. When we mentioned to a staff member later that the fix did not quite hold, another mechanic promptly arrived. This issue would likely require the renovation work performed on the lower floors. Overall, these issues were not enough to cost a star, and the hotel's responsiveness was certainly within expectations. Finally, I must mention the beautiful Veranden restaurant, at which we spent so much time. This is a ground floor (elevated above street level) restaurant which serves the breakfast buffet as well as other meals. It has the feel of a sunroom / conservatory and overlooks the waterfront. Although the menu is a bit expensive (especially for wine), the food is very good with a focus on local cuisine with fresh ingredients. It is definitely worth a visit. Overall, this is a lovely hotel. Regardless of my travel budget on my next trip to Stockholm, I will definitely return to the Grand Hotel. Collapse

Grand Hotel Stockholm provides a unique experience that's bespoke and personal. My wife and I had a wonderful time staying there over 4 nights in this beautiful city. The hotel gave us a sense of history, old charm and luxury of this tightly integrated city. It's situated along the waterfront, and is within walking distance to the Royal Palace, Gamla Stan (old town), and the train station. We enjoyed having breakfast at the Veranda restaurant - the freshness of the buffet ingredients including the salmon and salad, with hot meal made to order. The floral arrangement in the restaurant was tasteful and it complimented beautifully with the old time charm of the decoration. We liked having our breakfast next to the windows under the warm morning sun. It's refreshing. In the late evening before we retired to our room, we would spend a little time at the Cadier bar, which was a popular spot for royalty and common people together. I don't think we could see that in many places in the world. Our room was spacious and we could feel the quality of the bed and furniture were of solid quality. They were simple yet had that touch of Nordic class. We would recommend staying in this hotel to appreciate the grand experience. Collapse
