Nice hotel, we had corner room on 7th floor, the time of year meant it was quite exposed on 2 sides obviously and the wind noise at night was intrusive and disturbed my husband and I. Not the hotels fault of course. We'd booked 2 rooms, our adult sons fancied a family holiday with us (code for Mam and Dad will pay for AI, we'll then go out when AI ends at 11pm and then sleep all day until dinner at 7 and do it all over again) We had twin rooms, beds were wider than average single, but separated quite readily being on castors, gave me reason for merriment, less so my husband when being 'romantic'. The hotel was nice, food choices extensive to be fair but a little samey, plenty of pork dishes to choose from. My youngest son is a vegetarian and was a little desperate by day 4, even the fried eggs were sprinkled with fried chorizo. More vegetarian choice would have been good. Green beans as a vegetable accompaniment had pork mixed in, I thought it was delicious but he was stuck with chips, bread, paella some days, pasta and pizza. We had a few meals out, particularly good curry in The Kathmandu, just a short walk from hotel. Central position for hotel, everything in walking distance which my husband liked, I usually pick prettier places to visit with hotels being quite remote but knowing my sons would want to party this seemed perfect. Not enough going on for them locally though because of the time of year, they took themselves off to Malaga and other resorts after my husband and I retired for the night. Would I go back, perhaps not, I liked hotel, rooms were fine, drinks good, SAN Miguel flowing freely served in wine glasses, but not a problem to walk back to the bar, the areas not really for me but the 3 men in my life enjoyed our week away. We visited for a week break with family. The toons were adequate. The food, you would be hard pushed to find something you didn't like. It suits everyone. However, the cleanliness of this hotel is second to none. Better than I've seen in 5* hotels. The staff work tirelessly. I'd go back. It's central, no entertainment but if you want that it's a stones throw away. Collapse

Just returned from the Cervantes. Stayed here every year for the past few years usually alone or with my Two Daughters & Grandchildren to visit a friend, My Partner came with me on this occasion. The Cervantes is Very clean, staff are hit and miss I have never found them rude but at times they are not over friendly either but I do not find this a problem. The inside pool & tiny gym area very quite, outside the footballers ventured in on the Sunday as it was very warm. In the past I have taken Room only as I know the local area well I choose were to eat. We paid for all inclusive this time as the difference was a few pounds with Sunshine holidays ( well recommended) Drinks wise we absolutely had our moneys worth.. Whoops !! However personally did not find the food great certainly edible but each to their own there is a great choice it is a little bit all over the place as it is buffet style and set in different areas of the dining room but it was very busy mainly young men (Footballers ) on a football tournament. We did eat out a couple of times at Local Authentic Spanish restaurants to sample the amazing Tapas dishes and Steak. It is quite all around at this time of year not every were is open and 90% of shops on Calle San Miguel are closed. Venture of the main stretch for authentic Spanish Food & Tapas. For those wondering about the weather 14th Jan - 17th Jan.... Day time was Beautiful & Sunny I would compare to a warm Spring day. Trousers / Shorts , T-shirt with thin jacket are ideal. Evening was very windy and chilly so need a coat and warmer clothing. You will see the locals in thick coats hats & scarfs at this time of year. I will be back at the Cervantes in Summer, Great Location. Everything you need within minutes, Train station 5 minutes away. Collapse

We love Andalusia, it is a great place to live and spent holidays. We will back, but not to the hotel Gran Cervantes by Blue Sea. It is a good location, near the metro station. We visited Malaga. We rented a car and drove to Gibraltar. Fantastic time, but... we had to got back to the hotel... The food was ok, but service could be nicer a bit. The furniture is old, all the carpets and wall should be changed... The hotel has a 4 stars, but it doesn't deserve it. The swimming pool on top of the roof and the sauna is complete disaster... the view is nice but it is dirty and old. We can't recommend. Collapse

Booked in near the end of November 16, hotel was not too busy to begin with and got busier near the weekend. most of the reception staff were very friendly and helpful the hotel was clean with plenty of places to relax, Rooms were clean but beds were very hard.. The location is in the town centre so convenient for most things, train 100mtr from the back door and buses about 300mtrs, beach was accessible via the nearby Lift and a short walk at the bottom but not beach weather this November. the food was good always something to choose from lovely cakes!! and food was served at 10.00- 11.00pm in the bar. Entertainment each evening was ok usually a singer and musician, Unfortunately unusual weather torrential rain for three day meant most of the town almost closed down apart from those who had canopies outside. The rain also affected the hotel which has an "indoor" pool on the roof which is ok in the dry weather but unfortunately because there were so many leaks in the roof it became an outdoor pool and could use any of the facilities ie. fitness room or sunbeds. but apart from that we enjoyed our stay.
