We had a lovely couple of days at The Swallow Golf View Hotel. Our 4 year old son particularily enjoyed himself. We swam in the pool everyday and went for walks along the beach and he started to ride his bike without stabilisers. We went to the play park and investigated the rock pools just beside the hotel looking for crabs and shells. Itwas wonderful. The hotel was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough to help us. The family room was great and Matthew had a bunk bed for the first time and loved it. A nice relaxing and fun weekend for us all! Highly recommended. Collapse

The excellent food and service made a short stay to celebrate a birthday into a memorable occasion. Of particular note was the friendliness and professionalism of the bar and restaurant staff and the quality of the food both at dinner and breakfast.

Had a lovely day at the spa. Lunch was very tasty and the glass of bubbly made it just that bit more special. The spa was very pleasant although i agree with others that the changing area needs some tlc especially as there are only two toilets and one lock was broken. The massage was good. The sauna was over hot but the hot tub was wonderful. Collapse
Very nice and comfortable, but a little more attention to detail needed to justify 4 stars.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay. Our room was very comfortable and clean, although we found it too hot (we turned both of the radiators off and slept with the window open in January) due, I am sure to the very mild weather. The curtain in our room was torn, and the wardrobe difficult to open, but other than that it was spacious and comfortable. The sea view was wonderful. We slept well, although I woke several times due to the heat. The bathroom was a very good size, but there were black hairs on the floor (not ours) and a nasty stain coming from the cold tap. We arrived with another couple and had to wait 15 minutes to check in - then after being told there was not a table in the restaurant at the time we wanted, we found we had been booked into the wrong restaurant. We had the taster menu as part of our package and were able to choose from both the vegetarian menu and the main menu, which gave us plenty of choice. The food was of an excellent standard, although we found the service very friendly, it was slow, and I came away from the table still hungry - waking at 5.45am the next morning ready for breakfast. We also had to light our own candle on the dining table as the waiter didn't get round to this, and 'stole' some salt from another table as ours didn't work. The second night we chose an option from the main menu as well as having the taster menu and that stopped the night hunger pains! The spa treatments were very nice, if a bit on the expensive side. What really let the hotel down was the (ladies) changing area for the pool/gym. It was quite dirty with one of the toilet doors hanging open; for a 4 star hotel I would have expected something smarter. The gym itself was quite small, but more than adequate for the number of people using it - and there was a helpful member of staff in, who helped us with the settings on the treadmill so that I was able to enjoy a 'woodland walk' Other minor issues, the wifi was poor outside the lounge area, some of the staff could do with a little more training/knowledge of what the hotel offers or how to pass it on to guests, but I don't want to be too picky as overall we had a very nice, relaxing weekend break. Our review looks like there are more cons than pros but this is because I have explained the cons in more detail. Overall, we would recommend the hotel. Just a little disappointing in some areas. Pros: lovely location right on a beautiful beach and promenade; great for walks. We were lucky enough to have a family room with a sea view. I liked the traditional style of the hotel. The breakfasts were lovely with a good choice. Facilities in the room were good (apart from shower-see below). Great leisure club. I had a massage which was ok but very expensive. The cost was reasonable. Cons: the shower in the room was unpredictable; sometimes the water was cold, sometimes scalding hot with the controls not working properly. We reported this at reception and were told someone would look into it. If they did, we were not informed and the problem did not improve. The bathroom needed updating overall. My partner was scalded by the leisure centre shower; when we reported this at reception (twice) we were told that the manager would be informed and someone would get back to us .... no one did. Robes were only supplied at a cost or if a treatment was booked- disappointing. We asked whether we could drop postcards off at reception for posting and were told this was not a service that was offered. This is the first time this has happened in a hotel for me and surprising as the hotel must have outgoing mail. We did not eat in the hotel as it was expensive. The restaurant menu was too similar in price and choice to the brasserie menu. There could do with being a difference to suit different budgets and tastes. We would have loved to have eaten in the restaurant or brasserie as both rooms were lovely. The children's bunk beds in the family room were uncomfortable; my daughter said the mattress springs dug into her. Collapse

We have visited this hotel in January for the last 4 years! It just keeps getting better! I thought it was great before but it is excellent! The rooms, the staff, the food and the area are all perfect!
