Located a short shuttle ride from Al Seeb airport in Muscat, The Golden Tulip was a pleasant experience overall. The staff were extremely pleasant and very professional in their work. The hotel itself has some very good points and a few average ones which let it down a little. The rooms are a decent size and are very clean. There was some noise from outside which kept me awake for an hour on one of the nights (I stayed for 1 week) but otherwise it was quiet inside and out during the night. The high points are the fitness facilities. The gym is as good as many independent commercial gyms. The swimming pool is a good size and is clean. I saw a few women wearing bikinis and nobody bothered them (just cover up when inside the hotel). There are also well used tennis courts. In-room-dining is reasonable. The buffet downstairs is good on nights where they have themes etc. Itherwise it's very basic. Several times I was given food which wasn't cooked thoroughly. Overall, I'd stay here again without complaint. I'd just dine-out more often next time. Collapse

I checked in on 9th March 2018 and have prepaid for room till 24th march 2018. It's the worst hotel you can ever visit. 1. Rooms are shabby not enough light. 2. AC is so cold that it freezes room in 5 minutes after many complaints they did something in fall ceiling but still too cold. 3. The staff is really racist I was on roof top hotel for drinks and my first order was taken after 40 minutes of wait and no snacks provided which is standard and was provided on all tables, so I had to ask for it but no body ready to even look at me but they are proactive to go on other local and white tables to ask if everything was good. Very racist towards Indians. 3. Their food is as worst as the people who work here. Any hotel in the world who serves microwave food has to be worst and best part is if you return the food they take it back and handover the bill too you. Hmm very nice correct. 4. If you are visiting this hotel be ready to be humiliated if you are Indian the reception staff specially guys address you by "hey you" and locals/white are sir. 5. Be ready to shell out a fortune for water. They have a drinking water station at reception but you can't fill your water bottle there if you try to and if you are Indian they will say this which happened just a hour ago " hey you can't fill bottle here if you want water take glass and drink no filling bottle not allowed " no respect in the statement . They charge 2.5 OMR approx 450 INR for one bottle. But I have seen all other white customers filling bottles from there. * In short worst staff, racist, no good food, not at all INDIAN friendly, and first hotel in world who says can't take water to customers. I travel many times to Oman due to my office work and normally would stay for a month. I think this hotel is out from my company list so they just lost lot of revenue as we normally book 3 rooms. The sea food night is great. we were lucky to meet the sweets chef, she is a wonderful woman who is very creative with sweets. we ordered a 3d nutella chocolate cake for our son's birthday from the hotel which made our stay perfect. The hotel has a nice pool and gym. The service of the hotel is amazing and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. it's a highly recommended hotel especially that you get much more than what you pay Collapse

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights as a business trip. One main reason I selected this hotel was its close distance to the airport. Also its price was really interesting in comparison with similar 4-star hotels in Muscat. I guess one main reason for their attractive price is because it is an old hotel; which is not a negative point. Hotel is located about 5 minutes from the airport, it is adjacent to Muscat Exhibition Center. But there is nothing special around it if you want to walk. But a very big shopping center is near to the hotel, within jsut 5 minutes by car. Hotel area is nice, it has wide green area in front of it, which is for me an important point! I always prefer to stay in hotels which have garden and green area; which makes morning walks become more enjoyful! Check in process was very fast. During check in, I asked to book a car with driver for one full day, they helped me and introduced a very nice and helpful Omani person with a good car. As expected, room was dated, but big and clean enough. Of course wooden furniture was really old and needs to be changed. Breakfast quality and diversity was good indeed; and you can try to sit outdoor. Specially in those days that I was in this hotel, Muscat weather was fantastic and you enjoy eating breakfast in outdoor. I tried its gym and outdoor pool. It was well and according to a 4-star hotel; staff was helpful and well behaved. The only tiny problem was, connectiyity of WiFi was not well and it was disconnected sometimes; but as I asked reception to give me a room at the end of the hall, so maybe the reason was far distance of my room from WiFi modem. Of course WiFi speed was good; it just sometimes disconnected for a short seconds. I had one of my meetings in the lobby of hotel, fortunately this hotel has big enough lobby with nice decoration and convinient furniture. Checkout process was also very fast, and I used their airport shuttle (free) to return to the airport. In one word,I really enjoyed staying in this hotel, and if I come again for business trip, this hotel is definitely in my shortlist. Collapse
