This hotel is well located to easily walk into the center of the action in Bruges. It's 10 minutes from the train station....and footsteps away form a local side street with several lovely shops. I would recommend consideration of this 3 star hotel...but please note my specific room assessment below. The lobby is modest, with a small sitting garden just behind. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The rooms seem to vary. We were travelling with another couple and their room was a decent size, including with good space to move about and to accommodate luggage. Our room was #10...and I would recommend that you explicitly ask NOT to be placed in that room. It is literally right at the elevator door...and because of the hotel structure, it does not easily accommodate any additional space to place luggage or for you to move around. I found it was not a comfortable room. Bed comfort was mediocre. Bathroom was very large and bright...but with a very odd shower configuration. To be fair, the manager was willing to move us after the first day...but we chose not to take the time nor inconvenience ourselves to pack up and move for our next night. Collapse

Hotel nice and clean. Young girls staff very nice and work hard. Bedroom quite noisy with the traffic outside. Quite a pleasant stay. Breakfast quite good with English tea. Could do with a kettle in the room.

We stayed at The Golden tree hotel for 3 nights and I would describe our stay as almost acceptable but not repeatable. We had requested a quiet room because we were travelling with our toddler and they gave us the 3rd floor room. It was something like an attic and we had the floor to ourselves (or at least that is what we thought..). The room was very quiet but also very hot as it didn't have ventilation (it had an ac though) and we couldn't open the roof windows as often as we wanted because of the rain. The room had 3 safes, a box with two extra hairdryers and no fridge. It reminded a bit of a storage room where the owners put some of their extra supplies and hoped we didn't notice. The sheets were never changed and on our last day they didn't even make the bed (the sheets were just as we left them, they just straightened the duvet). I used to do it myself before we left the room for our breakfast but the cleaning lady usually did it again. They didn't change the towels, altough we left them on the bathroom stool. We accidentally stained our duvet cover on our first day but that was never changed either. Finally, we took a beer from the vending maslchine and a gpass but no one took that either the next day. Not even the bottle. We had to take it back ourselves and put it on a tray for the "used glasses of beer". The bed wasn't very comfortable and the upper mattress was bigger than the lower one. On our last night there, an old couple came to our floor and unlocked a door which had the sign of the emergency exit above it, while saying "we are staying here". Probably a private use and not hotel guests... On the other hand, most of the staff was very helpful and friendly with us. Breakfast was ok and had fresh and tasty things to eat. We didn't find very convenient the fact that breakfast was served 8-10 and the reception was closed after 8 p.m. The location was very good and the town center was within walking distance (10 minute walk). We probably wouldn't stay there again due to the lack of cleaning service. Collapse

Visited Bruges for the Christmas Markets and stayed here for a couple of nights. Accomodated in what appears to be a new/renovated annex at the rear over looking the carpark. Room large and comfortable only proble was water didnot run very hot. Breakfast standard for hotels in this area with the exception of a large server of scrambled egg. Only one person running around the the provable blue **** fly trying to keep the breakfast table topped up and clear tables as they were used. The hotel is a short walk from town centre (15 Mins) and only has a small carpark which needs to be booked in advance but it is literally adjacent to the entrance of a city underground carpark which is cheaper than the hotels and very good, left the car for the duration of our stay no problem.
