Very welcoming and helpful staff, lovely sea view room, clean and tidy. We stayed last weekend for three nights, bed and breakfast basis. Good choice of buffet style breakfast and was very impressed to see other choices available to order such as smoked haddock with poached eggs. We didn't eat dinner in the main restaurant but had an evening meal and lunch snack in the bar which were also nice. All food was lovely. Good idea to give residents a loyalty card which builds up credit to then spend in the bar on drinks and food, we enjoyed a few extra drinks for free at the end of our stay. I'd definitely recommend the hotel and hope to go back soon. Collapse

The location with its views is spectacular the cleanliness in the hotel is very good. But.....the service in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. We booked a table for Dinner for 7.15 and assumed that was for the duration of our stay. On arrival at the restaurant on our second evening we were told we hadn't made a reservation and that we were on Bed and Breakfast basis when in fact we were on half board. The information provided on checking in was very sparse. This was our first visit to this hotel and we were unfamiliar with the routine . . One evening we waited 45 minutes between our starter and main course. My husband spoke to the Hotel Manager about this and she said she would look into it.. Whether she did or not we do not know as we didn't have any feedback following our complaint. The Staff in the Restaurant were very pleasant but there is a major problem whether it be in the preparation of the food or the service I don't know but towards the end of our stay hardly anyone ate in the restaurant. Surely this should alert management that there is a problem which requires immediate attention.. The bar area was professionally managed by efficient and pleasant staff. It was open to non residents and there was no Lounge for the sole use of hotel guests. Collapse

We stayed in early April for 3 nights. We had stayed here once before and loved it so we were hoping for another fabulous break. We booked through Secret Escapes which had flights and car hire included, which was excellent. We booked a 3 night stay. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by Stuart and Sabi, and check in went smoothly. The room was lovely, as we'd enjoyed previously, and it was a pleasure to be back. The sea views are absolutely stunning. The weather was fabulous - we couldn't have asked for warmer. We were very blessed. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, and were well looked after by Katarina and the team. They catered well for my gluten free/vegetarian needs. However, a couple behind us left the restaurant when one of their starters was wrong, and one of their main courses was also wrong, causing the lady to have to watch her husband eat his meal whilst her own was cooked afresh. They did not wait. Steven, the manager on reception next morning, apologised. Unfortunately, the theme of wrong or slow food arrival continued. Breakfast next morning was fine, but tea and toast orders were taken straight away before the half hour wait to receive them, which seemed long. This seemed to be the case with most tables each morning. Breakfast is buffet selection with a hot plate for cooked food unless you want to order alternatives from the kitchen, which we did. Our next evening meal was in the bar, and ours, too, arrived late - my husbands first and then mine 20 minutes later. The waiter apologised - he had put the orders through separately rather than together, for reasons he couldn't explain, but I accepted his apology. Our last evening meal was also in the bar area, and was the best of all; tasty, prompt, and we were well looked after. I want to give special mention to John, bar manager, and both Thomas and Daniel who, under John's guidance and direction, kept service as it should be with politeness, professionalism, and excellent humour on Sunday lunchtime when they were at their most busy. In contrast, hotel reception staff never seemed busy and rarely smiled. They didn't leave a lasting impression on me, which was a shame. It had previously been much better. The hotel is still lovely in terms of its situation - right on the beach. The sound of the waves on the shore each morning is a delight. The quality of the food is excellent, but the food service let it down on this occasion. Housekeeping was great. The room, as I've said, was lovely. The beds are extremely comfortable and we slept well. All in all, a nice stay, thanks to John and his boys, and Katarina and her team in the restaurant (which also included Thomas and Daniel). Both sets of staff couldn't do enough to please even though some of the service was lacking in parts as mentioned. We were asked to complete a survey on our final day. I hope note is taken of the comments regarding food service, which I also heard others talking about. As we left, the receptionist didn't wish us a good homeward journey nor did he say he hoped we'd visit again. That summed up the reception for me. It was lacking, and in contrast to those I have mentioned who were always so very busy, but still took time to smile and talk. Collapse

We have just returned from a short stay at the Golden Sands. We had chosen a sea view room and the view was exceptional. The room was really nice and very clean. There were tea and coffe making facilities and a free safe. There is a car park across the road from the hotel with plenty spaces. Breakfast buffet was lovely plenty of choice with special items cooked to order. The hotel is in a quiet location but there are restaurants/cafes in walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful and you can buy the parking tickets that you need for the island at reception were the receptionist explained how to use them. The bar was lovely and comfortable with outside seating for warmer evenings. Drinks were reasonably priced. Collapse
