We have stayed in every available classification of accommodations at the GN. This last trip we stayed in the Golden Deluxe VIP limited access 17th floor of the Gold Tower. It was a big nothing special. Low quality furnishings. I challenge anyone to wash their face in the sinks; the faucets totally obstruct the basins. The big screen TV emits so much heat that you can feel it radiating in your bed. Touch the screen with your hand and you feel about 120 degrees plus (your hand is about 98 degrees, so anything hot to the touch is usually over 100 degrees. The bedding was a joke. We had a queen size comforter on a king size bed. It is a Vegas tradition to have black out curtains in your room, not here, just cheap blinds that allow light through. Over the years we have tried every food service location on the property (except the buffet). ONLY Vic & Anthony's is worth eating at, everything else is just disappointing. The staff in general are unaccommodating, bordering on the surly and rude. The Staff in the VIP lounge and check in were humorless, unwelcoming and non-engaging. Some strange person was listed as staying in our room and the VIP staff were annoyed when I asked them to please remove them from our reservation. I also asked if they could call me back to confirm that this correction was completed. I never heard from them. We actually enjoy staying downtown. It is a lot of fun. After this trip we feel it is time to try another casino hotel. the Golden Nugget is just not cutting it anymore. Piece of advice: Take care of your customers, if not the innkeeper next door would gladly do so. Collapse
What it does well, it does very well. Other things, not so much

Stayed here for a long weekend for our 20th anniversary. We pre-paid for our room, but when we checked in, it was not available. They asked us if we would take a smoking room, and as compensation they would waive the resort fee and upgrade us to a better room in our original tower (we booked the Rush tower.) It was nice to have the resort fee waived, and we were tired, so we agreed. Besides, what choice did we have? The Gold Tower room was very nice, but even smokers might have objected to just how smoky the room was. But we made do for the night. Moving to the next room was a bit of a hassle (we only had a 2 hour window to take the new room, and we had to be there to move our bags). But the new room in the Rush tower was absolutely splendid. Customer service in the hotel areas was very nice. We also had an exceptional dinner at Vic & Anthony's steakhouse, with service that was exemplary. Granted, it was NOT a cheap meal (we both ordered steak, a bottle of wine for the meal, a starter cocktail, accompaniment, and dessert each.) But even a casual lunch the next day at The Grotto was very nice, with quality food and great service. The store attendants were also very polite, and the pool was very clean with polite staff. The problem is the gaming. We are not ignorant of table games, but stuck to Pai Gow and Blackjack. We wanted to expand our horizons. This is where things went awry. First, their players club is not a good value. You have to spend a lot to get your slot free play, and the slots do not pay out AT ALL. And that is knowing full well that slots are basically grown-up video games. Our roulette dealer was very nice, but the table games dealers for the poker derivatives were very disinterested in actually teaching us how to play the games. One lady (I wish I had gotten her name) was helpful in teaching us progressive 5 card, but the dealer at the straight flush table was so unhelpful I will not be gaming there again (I would provide details, but I am filing a complaint with the casino manager about his conduct.) In short, I would eat there again, I might stay there again, but I seriously doubt I will ever spend one cent of my gambling budget there again. Collapse

We stayed in the Carson Tower and had a beautiful room with a nice view towards the Strip. Great location on Fremont St. Beautiful pool areas. The adult pool was especially nice for us. Many restaurants to choose from.

This was our first time staying at the Golden Nugget. We usually stay on the strip, but decided to give this a go. From the get go we were pleased, things got even better with the room upgrade they gave us. The pool was great, a little packed a couple of days but that's to be expected. My only complaint is that some of the bartenders in the casino bars make lousy drinks! If you order a whiskey and 7up, at least make sure there's enough whiskey in it to appear darker not completely clear!! Collapse

Our stay was fantastic, check in was quick, room was very clean, every employee we encountered was very professional. Our boarding passing for our flight home were printed out for us to be pick up. We used express check out so no waiting. The pool is a 10 out of 10, we stayed 4 days but wish it could have been longer. We have stayed there before and will be going back, it is also in a central location Thank you Golden Nugget for making our stay so nice. Thomas Bentine Collapse
