Stayed In the Carson Tower for 3-days in January and wished we would have gone little later in the year so we could use the beautiful swimming pool..Room was very clean with all ammenities even 2-pair free house slippers..My only beef as with 95% all hotels in Vegas there was no coffee pot in the room but they will rent you a Keurig for $10 if you are a coffee drinker like me..I will admit I was a little upset to learn that even after dropping around $900 in the casino i could not get a free cup of Joe and had to purchase it at one of the many Starbucks or a bar for $4..They also have a great Buffett..Also as with many Casino's unless you are on a table playing cards or craps free drinks are really not gonna happen because of limited wait staff working slots.. This hotel was much better than expected. Very clean, comfortable beds and pillows, nice amenities (robes and slippers) and large rooms. Wish the pool would have been open, the slide through the shark tank looks awesome!!

Not really worth the price.

Pros: Drew! Food was good Cons: Room was dated Mold Blood in bathtub? Rust in bathtub A few rude staff members Smelled smokey in some rooms Small beds (2 bed room) All towels smelled like smoke WE WERE GETTING MARRIED!!! So it was special to us. We have been saving every extra penny for about a year. Now we had our ten year-old daughter with us for two nights out of three, so we needed two beds. I made reservations about 5 months in advanced. I always wanted to stay at the Golden Nugget. My (new) husband and I are avid scuba divers and we wanted to stay here because of their awesome shark tank. Just to set a bit of detail, I should mention that I have worked in the hospitality and travel industry for about 20 years, and I do have high standards, but understand that mistakes happen. It's how the staff responds to mistakes that is important to me. We checked in on Friday morning. We were were welcomed by the doorman, Drew. Honestly if he was my only criteria for a review this man would have received ten stars out of five! He was amazing. He set such a wonderful first impression that I thought for sure we were going to have an amazing stay. Drew, Thank you!!!! Our room was also ready early which was excellent, and the young lady who checked us in was also very pleasant. Off to a good start. The Rooms: I opened the door and was pretty disappointed. It really looked like my Nana had decorated the room. Not horrible, but not really modern. I then noticed the bed. Most hotels have either one king or two queens. Not this room, nope, two full size beds. (my husband is 6'3") We stayed at a $34 per night room in Primm the night before and we got a modern, clean room with two queens. The room was decent size so not sure why a modern hotel would choose full beds over queens. I decided to take a quick shower, while in the shower I noticed a little stain on the tub. Upon further investigation it looked a lot like a very small drop of dried blood. Since I didn't have my lab kit to confirm I took a bit of toilet paper, wiped it off and squirted a bit of hand sanitizer on it. The tub was very rusty, so it might have been rust. Regardless, not acceptable in a $200 per night room. As I was washing my hair I looked up and around the decorative flowered curtain. I noticed a few lumps of what looked like mold. Not sure if it is the infamous "BLACK MOLD" but it was very dark in color. Now, it was a busy holiday weekend, and we had settled in at this point and we had so much stuff I didn't want to move rooms. Not to mention I was still on such a high from Drew's awesome personality, I figured I would let it slide since my first impression was so good. We were on a non-smoking floor, had no issues with rooms smelling like smoke however the towels were a very different story. We had lunch at Claim Jumper. It was pretty gosh darn tasty and very good service. After lunch I realized I had to break a $100, so I when to the front desk with my daughter (10) with me. I was told I couldn't do that at the front desk and I had to go to the casino's cashier. There was a line with several other children with their parents. Now, I get there are rules and regulations regarding children at a casino. However since I was told by a hotel employee to "Go to the cashier", and my child was NOT at the roulette table putting it all on red, I figured it wasn't a problem. Suddenly a cashier screamed at the line, "CHILDREN ARE NOT PERMITTED BY THE CAGE GET THOSE KIDS OUT OF HERE NOW!" Um....wow! Do I want to follow the rules, sure. However not sure why someone didn't politely let us know. I walked over to a machine, right next to "the cage", with my daughter, and had my bill broken down while other employees walked in and out of a door. Some of them smiling and giving me a friendly nod. Saved me a tip. We needed to go get our marriage license. We stepped outside and... YES DREW WAS THERE! We asked him where to go, he gave us amazing directions "See that radio tower over there? That's where you need to go. You have yourselves a fantastic day, congratulations and please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you." Have I mentioned how much I love Drew! Before heading out for the evening (went to see Love....AMAZING). I needed to grab my jacket which I accidentally left in the car. We went to valet to see if they could pull the car around so I could grab it, as well as a few other things. Well, the valet attendant acted like I asked him to rewrite the phone book in hieroglyphic, or asked him to help my child with her 4th grade math homework (she gives me the same response he did). Finally he said, "ugh, where is it in the car so I don't have to pull the car around". I told him where it was. As he was looking I put the $5 bill away I was going to give him (I know it was a pain in the butt for him and would have given the $5 before his attitude) gave him $2 instead when he gave me my jacket.....he was a bit more friendly when he returned. I had a few other friends stay at the Golden Nugget. I was a bit surprised that they had to pay extra for a refrigerator in their room, considering it was for my friend who is a nursing mom. Their room, on the other hand, did stink like smoke (they requested non-smoking). My friend (who has asthma) called to request a new room. No luck, they did come with spray which helped a bit. The day of the wedding I knew I would have girlfriends in and out of the room. I ordered coffee and a continental breakfast. A bit later our coffee arrived. I asked about the continental breakfast he said it might be coming in a bit. After waiting about 1 1/2hr I called again. The lady told me I never ordered the continental breakfast. Oh yes I did! As I mentioned, mistakes happen, but it's how people handle mistakes that are important to me. She didn't offer to fix it, or ask if I would like to order it. She acted like.... you didn't order it, its not my problem, no continental breakfast for you. PERIOD. I think this is what upset me the most. Also while playing in the casino I was a bit surprised that there was a panhandler in the casino asking people for a dollar.....not really the hotels fault. As we were leaving I called the bell desk (very nice) and they asked if I had valeted the car ( I did). Now my ticket said "Rush Tower" (different valet location) but I told them that I didn't think the car was over at the "Rush Tower". I also explained it to the bellman (who was also very nice). He confirmed what the desk told me.....Rush Tower. He would meet us out in front of the Rush Tower entrance. I checked out (went well) and walked back to the Rush Tower, where my husband and the bellman were walking back into the hotel to let me know I was right, it was not at the Rush Tower......so I had to walk a bit extra, no big deal....I could probably use it. Bottom line, I paid (with resort fee) $200 per night (averaged) for a dated, moldy room with a rusty (or bloody) tub, smokey towels and small beds. There were a few super stars (which is why the review was "poor" and not "terrible") but several bad eggs. As I mentioned, my hubby and I are scuba divers and would love to try out the shark tank water slide.....we were hoping to have a "first look" moment by the tank, but it was closed for renovations.....hey, it's January and cold, good time to do that. However, we really have to think long and hard to see if we will ever be back again. I'm guessing we might look else where for future Vegas stays. Collapse

The Cadillac Bar is great for happy hour and will fill you up with special food items that are outstanding. A MUST is to go see KELLY at the main casino bar. For 3 dozen years + this GENTLEMAN is the reason I go to have a cocktail and a conversation. Kelly your the best. Collapse
