i have written a review before on this park and hotel but i had to write another after reading the ridiculous negative reviews lots of people have written, they must have stayed in this hotel but on another planet?? 1. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are so clean, confortable, spacious and very worthy of their 4 star rating. you would have to go around with a magnifying glass to find any dirt? 2. The staff are very freindly, very attentive at dinner and breakfast and in the four times we have been to the park the longest i have waited to check in, max one hour. dont go there is peak seasons to expect to check in immediately, they process 1000's of people a day. 3. Its a theme park, haute cuisine is not on the menu, how could they produce high quality food for the thousand's who eat everyday. expect what they advertise, ok food and you get a good selection. The breakfast is brilliant. if you want high quality cooking you will have to go to Tarragona, you wont find anything that is the dump salou. 4. the park and its rides are amazing. 5. we cannot wait to go back 6. ignore the negative comments, they are injust and not accurate to the experience we have had four times. We chose this hotel based on the tripadvisor ratings. We had never heard of Port Aventura before and it came up whilst we were looking for a last minute half-term holiday. The attention to detail for the Wild West theme was amazing and even though none of us are really into Westerns it was still appreciated. The check-in experience was fine and we were well informed about the theme parks and resort. We thought our room (standard) was spacious and as one would imagine a room to be in the Wild West. We agree with other reviewers that the toiletries were rather lacking for a four-star and the bathroom did smell of drains at times. It was also a nice touch to have a little kitchenette with microwave. We'd read the negative reviews about the buffet meals so opted for breakfast only as we had a car to get around. We did try the expensive buffet one evening and it was disappointing (not for our five year old though!) so we were pleased to have not gone half-board. I thought that breakfast was reasonable and ate tortilla with beans, pancakes, fruit and yogurt every morning. My husband was not that impressed and thought the coffee was substandard. It was a real shame that the pool was closed, though the water temperature was too cold for us to swim anyway. It should not be low-season as it was the school holidays for some countries and also Halloween. Our son loved the mini-disco as he loves all the Spanish kids tunes and having that entertainment was a real bonus. The park itself was incredible (not too sure about Ferrari land) and the way it was decorated for Halloween was awesome. Overall we had a fab time, got some Winter sunshine and will be returning someday I'm sure! Collapse

I stayed here during half term week with my children. It was meant to be a much-needed break for the three of us. Whilst we have all enjoyed the theme park - some fantastic rides there if you like rollercoasters - the hotel itself has been a bit of a disappointment. This is not a 4* hotel. The state of the decor let's it down. The room could have been cleaner and a smell of damp lingered - I eventually worked out that this was coming from condensation from the window making the blackout curtain wet. Food was at best average. What four star hotel offers cheap watered down orange juice and pineapple juice as the only juice options?? Plenty of cereals on offer and the usual ham, cheese and bread. But the cooked breakfast was not good. The sausages in particular were awful. American style pancakes with maple syrup were nice, but best to wait for freshly cooked ones otherwise expect them to be stone cold. Dinner was ok - but quite repetitive and often luke warm. The pool area is lovely, but beds a little uncomfortable after a while. Expect the pool to be closed from late September. I wasn't aware of this at the time of booking. The first day of our holiday was 26 degrees and a maintenance guy came round telling everyone to get out of the pool. The reason I found out later was due to there being no lifeguard. Very disappointing. Reading some other reviews I can't believe that no one is complaining about the TERRIBLE piped music that is played throughout the hotel resort from 9am til 9pm. It drives you insane!!!! It would be so much better to have no music at all. It truly is awful. On the day we decided not to visit the park we were pleased to visit the beach, which is beautiful. Beware of pick pockets though. The saving grace of this hotel is the free park entrance. The park is fantastic. At this time of year - outside of weekends - the wait times are not too bad. Furious Baco often has the longest wait times, but the rest we found to be 20mins maximum. If I came back again it would be solely for the park entrance. The hotel itself could do much better.
