Let me say from the start that All Inclusive hotels are not really for me. I like to eat out at a different place each evening. However, the Gloria Palace was recommended to me by a friend and as we were only staying for 7 nights, we thought we'd give it a try. The entrance hall takes your breath away and the staff at the desk are welcoming, friendly and very good at their job. This was just the start. We found out that the staff in every department were every bit as friendly and every bit as good at their job. I really can't praise them enough. Patricia in the restaurant, who helped me with my attempts at Spanish, and Hector who was so attentive without being intrusive. A young Italian guy whose name I didn't get gave an absolutely hilarious demonstration at the pool on how to make Sangria. They all seemed to be having as good a time as the customers. The room, we had 2613, was fantastic with a stunning view and for once it was a room that I enjoyed spending time in. The evening entertainment from 9.30 to 10.30 was good with some quality acts. There is a lift down to the main road where we were able to walk within a few minutes to either Puerto Rico or Amadores and take advantage of the numerous bars and restraurants on offer there. The hotel restaurant had plenty of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was always a choice of meats or fish to pick from that were freshly cooked for us. Although I haven't changed my mind in as much as I would still like to eat at a different place each evening, the staff, the setting and the quality of the hotel made for a really relaxing, entertaining and enjoyable week. We stayed at the Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso & Hotel from 1st December - 5th December 2016 for our Honeymoon. I don't even know where to start, from the moment we walked into the hotel, we were greeted with a choice of drinks and a complimentary lunch. Completely unexpected but a very nice touch. Our room as perfect - very clean, modern and very spacious. AMAZING views from the balcony. The food is fantastic with so much variety. The waiting staff are very attentive and welcoming, always saying hello, remembering where we like to sit etc. The hotel itself is in the perfect location - not too far from the airport, beaches to either side which is literally minutes walk away. Close to all the shops bars & restaurants. Entertainment is fantastic - every single entertainer makes you feel welcome, makes you feel involved. Even though we didn't travel with children - it is a perfect place for kids! Loads and loads to do! We would 100% recommend this hotel and we are already looking at returning in the summer 2017! Wouldn't even look anywhere else. Collapse

We went as a group but we didn't always stay together in this hotel. We mainly met up in the piano bar or the pool bar depending on the time of day and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The rooms are very spacious with a private balcony lots room for all your holiday clothes and Noelia the lady who looked after us did a wonderful job. The food in the restaurant was plentiful and tasty. The down side is only minor, on arrival we had to call housekeeping to come and clean the toilet (it was still dirty ) which they did and apologised for. Thank you . Next is a small thing but would improve things for vegetarians at meal times, there was no V on the labels of the food so e.g: rolled aubergine in tomato sauce looked fab but it had small bit off ham inside when you cut into it, stuff tomatoes had fish inside but you had no idea until you broke into it, so if a symbol like V on the labels would save waisting food and time. Saying all that I still had good meals I just had to be a little more careful x This hotel is lovely and the walk down to Puerto Rico is help by the lift that goes the front and you can easily walk to the beach or shops. I would recommend this hotel ***** Thanks for a lovely stay Collapse

Stayed here for a week from 28th Nov All Inclusive to celebrate my 50th Birthday, Check in was quick and the hotel layout was clearly explained. We knew the hotel has slightly unusual in its layout from previous reviews and this turned out to be correct but the map and explanation given when we booked in was fine. We asked for 2 rooms close to each other and the hotel provided this with 4504 and 4505.Rooms were indeed very large, probably the biggest rooms we have had for a Med hotel. We booked a Deluxe Thalasso Room so should have had bathrobes and slippers but these were not provided- also no bottle of Cava as mentioned by many other guests - would have been a nice touch as my birthday was the day of arrival- never mind though, perhaps the hotel can take note and improve for future guests who have big birthdays while at the hotel. Large flat screen TV, 2 chairs, table and sofa, 2 large beds and large balcony, fridge provided but not stocked. One tip for the TV, there are a couple of English channels but many more Spanish ones. If you come across a channel showing a film or TV show you like CSI Las Vegas for example, press "tools" on the remote and go down to Video Language and select "Undefined" or " VO" and it will revert to English, Downside is that when you change channels, the process has to be repeated. Works though as we watched a few late night films after the bars closed. 11.30 for All Inclusive by the way.Great room service from Claudia, always did an excellent job.Shower over bath with a screen and was very powerful, again mentioned a few times in other reviews, Pools were fine, we used the top one, cold but once in was fine. No issues with getting sunbeds at any point during the week we were there. Snack Bar also good, limited choice but more than enough for snacks(burgers, hot dogs, pizzas and toasted sandwich) if you want a wider choice, go to lunch in the main restaurant. Talking of the restaurant. breakfast was very good though busy and would recommend you go before 9.00am as very busy after this. We went for dinner between 7-8pm as this seemed the best time. Wide choice of food and cannot understand people who have said the choice was limited. We had bottles of water and bottle of house red with meals and this was on the All Inclusive. Entertainment was ok and as mentioned by other reviews, some ok some less so but watchable.Bar service through most of the hotel was waiter only and if you approached the bar, you are usually asked to return to your seats and someone pops over to take the order. All Bar Staff worked very hard with the exception on one called "Silvio" who seemed to do all he could to not take orders. He spent most of the time walking endlessly around the room not looking anyone in the eye to avoid having to serve anyone. This was very strange as the orders are taken by the waiters, keyed into a PDA and the drinks are brought over by another member of staff. Think someone needs a word with "Silvio" as he is letting the hotel down badly. To sum up, hotel was lovely, majority of staff were very helpful and hard working, great location and good food options. Entertainment was ok but could do with slight improvement and All Inclusive ending at 12.00 as per majority of places we have stayed. We would return to this hotel which I think can be used as a yardstick to gauge its quality. Collapse

Stayed here from 12th to 26th November 2016 All Inclusive. A fantastic hotel, superb food and drinks and perfect staff! On arrival we were given a glass of bubbly whilst checking in, which was fast and efficient with all the information we needed for our stay. When I booked the holiday I emailed the hotel after reading reviews to ask for a room in Block 4, as it seemed to be the quietest. We were allocated room 4502 which was huge, besides two massive beds there was a sofa bed, two arm chairs, a flat screen TV, dressing table, wardrobes and tea/coffee making facilities. There is also a small fridge (empty) don't forget to get your bottles of water from the bars to keep in the fridge, it is not stocked for you. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in and I wanted to bring the pillows home with me. The balcony was very big with a view to die for overlooking the ocean. It was also very secluded, not overlooked at all, in fact the only people that could possibly see onto the balcony would be someone on a boat with a pair of binoculars! Nice big bathroom with his and hers sinks, separate toilet and an over bath shower. Warning don't turn the shower on full, it will knock you off your feet - a real POWER shower. We received a call from reception on day two asking if everything was OK with the room, it was, I did ask if there was a chance we could have two sunbeds on our balcony as I'd seen others had this. I was told they would see what they could do but the sunbeds never materialised. Block 4 was definitely quiet and central for Reception, the Salon/Pool, Restaurant and Pool/Snack Bar, Thalasso pool, also the glass lift to take you down to the Paseo. Once on the Paseo turn right for a 15 minute walk to Amadores beach or left for a 5 minute walk to Puero Rico Marina. Floor numbers a bit confusing at first in Block 4 we went down in the lift to floor 5, but you soon get used to it. The Salon/Pool is where the children's pool and the animation team are, we used the Snack Bar Pool which was quiet. Plenty of sunbeds at any time of the day. Both are infinity pools. We received a bottle of bubbly in the room, which was a very nice touch. It was cleaned every day with fresh towels whenever we needed. The hotel charge 10 Euro deposit (refundable) for a beach towel and 50c each time you want to change it, which I thought was quite reasonable. However what I didn't think was reasonable was the 2.60 Euros per day they charged for the use of the safe deposit box in the room, nothing short of extortion in my opinion! Also had to pay a 5 euro deposit (refundable) for the safe deposit box. The deposit I can understand but a daily charge??? I have never been in a four star hotel where there was a daily charge for a safe deposit box before, the hotel needs to rethink this charge as most people want to keep their valuables safe, the hotel are obviously making a killing on something that is a necessity for their guests. Buffet style restaurant with various cooking stations every day cooking steaks, chicken etc. The food was beautiful, plenty of choice with theme nights, the salad bar is great. There is even a sandwich toaster at lunchtime to make your own toasties. The cornflakes and branflakes at breakfast actually tasted of cornflakes and branflakes and not cardboard, which is what they usually taste like in hotels. If anyone says they can't find anything to eat at any meal time in this hotel you must be the fussiest person ever. My hubby is a fussy eater but was thrilled with the choices. There are two drinks menus, if you're AI make sure you use the green one not the blue one as it says in the information sheet given to you at check in. I think it must be a printing error. The menus are clearly labelled AI. Great choice of drinks including some premium brands included in AI. I can recommend the Whisky Cream - nicer than Baileys and the Torres 5 Brandy, though the Torres 10 is nicer but you have to pay for that.. The house red and white wine is good and you can order a bottle if you want to. No need to queue up at the bar for drinks they have a great system where a waiter comes with a machine to take you order, keys it in, swipes your key card and within a few minutes another waiter delivers your drinks, very efficient. Proper glassware, not plastic cups, unless you are taking you drink round the poolside. No problem taking drinks back to your room. The staff, without exception are very friendly and helpful and funny, a special mention to Oscar and Javier in the Lobby Bar, you were absolute stars! Checkout is noon, if you have a later flight be aware your AI finishes at noon. We have travelled all over the world and never go back anywhere but both said we would definitely go back to this hotel, that's how good it is. Collapse
