It was a memorable visit to Killarney, made all the more enjoyable by the comfort and staff of the Gleneagle Hotel. Our room was beautiful and spacious. The staff were very helpfull and as usual nothing was too much for them.

Just had a lovely stay in the Gleneagle in Killarney. A rolling metropolis of various decades, it certainly is a unique spot. It's an old hotel with areas that feel like your in the 1950's one minute with other areas back into the 21st century. There are lots of cosy area's in the hotel but there are a few area's in the hotel which are bitter. We had dinner one night in OD's & it was very cold, also going down to the leisure centre and some of the corridors were Baltic . To be expected in older hotels I guess and didn't bother us to much. The food was lovely and the staff were all top class & most friendly & accommodating. The room was clean but in need of tlc & we were just beside the ventilation shaft and the delivery van area so we had an alarm every morning. Can't really complain about these minor things though as the house keeping were top class although a little early sometimes. The entertainment was on going so never a dull moment at the Glen Eagle. The leisure centre was full of options with the gym, pool, squash courts, pitch & putt & tennis. So really impressed with the options. The gym though is not sold very well and is poorly represented I feel. It has all the potential & equipment but no atmosphere & a dreadful grey colour that would depress a Quokka. As a fitness professional & seeing what's on offer out there I feel their missing a trick on this one . Generally though I love the place as it brings you back in time but offers something for everyone . My only one major gripe & experienced by quite a few other guests was the kids running riot at all hours of the night. I have children myself & they know when to respect other people's space, they even mentioned that they didn't enjoy the kids running all over the place in supervised. It's the parents responsibility but surely the staff need to gently enforce some order. The kids club was in the front area near the reception and I spoke to a few people that had to leave over the noise and were not to happy. I have seen several hotels with kids clubs but not remotely aware they were running as they didn't interfere with other guests. Anyway I did enjoy the hotel and the facilities and in particular the staff who were great. Will I go back, the jury is out on that one , but we'll see. I guess I would recommend it for certain people or groups. Collapse

So disappointed before I go in February 2017we are booked into Paul Claffey tours country week from 19th to 23rd February and rang to book Saturday 18th so that I could drive 6hr journey and get rest before the dancing started on Sunday, only to be told there was availability but they were only taking bookings for two nights even I have already paid for Sunday to Thursday that did not make any difference. Hope when we go from 19th to 23rd February customer services will be better. Collapse

Rooms are great , pool great , staff are excellent , foods fantastic and it's in one of the most beautiful places in the world. This is a family hotel, there'll be kids and with that comes kid sounds. If your not a kid person don't bother. That been said at night It's always quite. Always entertainment in the inec or the hotel. Push for a good rate and if they can they will. Huge thumbs up. Collapse

Rooms: We had a flashing light in the bathroom. I rang reception but no answer which was understandable as they were so busy so I walked down to let them know. They sent someone up to repair it. Room was so warm that we turned off the radiators and opened the window but could not leave it open as there were noisy ventilation fans on the outside of our window. We couldn't sleep with the heat and then the noise.People next door to us were so noisy but we let that go as we thought that they were just excited as they probably had just checked in like us. The noise continued during our two night stay. The room above us decided to join in with the noise but this went on til the wee hours of the night. We got hardly any sleep during our stay. Dining: Very organised for breakfast as in the queuing system and a good variety of food but when we got our toast there was mould on it. We let this go and didn't complain as we didn't want to get any staff into trouble but we did mention it to the breakfast manager the next morning as we were cranky and awake all night from the noise. Had enough of the hotel by this stage. While we were having our breakfast, people came in wearing pyjamas. This should not have been allowed. We dined in the bar on our first evening. Food was lovely. The diner was open the first night but not on the second night even tho it stated on the sign that it was open from 6pm. I asked about it at reception and they said it was only open for big event night. We were able to order food at reception and it was served to our table but two toasted sandwiches cost us €17. Entertainment: We were very disappointed with the entertainment in the hotel especially for New Years Eve. The bar was empty from 11pm and no live entertainment til a band came on at 1am. There were a band on in the ballroom but they were so bad that we went back in to the bar and rang in the new year among ourselves. We asked the bar staff to put on some music for us which they did. There was another band on in the green bar but they were not good either. Overall: The hotel is lovely but needs to soundproof the rooms. Also, they need to have a strict dress code as pyjamas are not a good look while staying in a hotel. There were parents in the lobby with their children in their pyjamas too. We went to this hotel as we heard good things about it over the years. We do understand that it is a family hotel but it is not acceptable when the parents are sitting drinking in the bars and letting their children run wild. We were not the only guests complaining about this. Collapse
