When we first arrived at the Gleneagle we were greeted by the charming Caroline who explained all the procedures that included all the meal times that were all very well organised as you can appreciate when there are a number of groups timing is very important, some people may think it's regimented but it's not the system they have works to perfection if you have a later evening meal one night you have an early breackfast the following day, this works well is fair to all groups and the wonderful Geraldine is always on hand to ensure everyone is looked after and you don't have to queue. All your#e luggage is taken to your rooms so there's no mauling all the rooms are spacious well appointed and clean and tidy and well equipped. If you want to go into town at night it's about a fifteen minute walk but don worry if yiu can't there is a hotel shuttle @2euros each way an run quite frequently. The number of excursion's available are amazing and can be booked at the hotel but as we were on a coach tour ours were included. There no a lot to be said about the wonderful Ring of Kerry and the Dingle peninsular that hasn't already been said stunning scenery on both trips. The only thing I can't emphasize enough that the Golden Rules as we travelled from Killarney Ring of Kerry tour Anti-clockwise Dingle peninsular Clockwise please follow this rule trust me the amount of people who didn't and kept running into tour coaches and other traffic was unreal and they all had to turn round .but when we were back at our hotel we did enjoy our Full Irish breakfast, and don't forget the Irish coffee . Currently staying in this hotel, as part of an Irish dancing event for 5 nights and on the second day we brought the kids to the Aquila club pool facilities, the staff had a policy that no fake tan is allowed In the pool, understandable, nevermind the fact that nobody informed us upon booking that this was the case, it being an Irish dancing competition you think that we would have been told! despite our kids not wearing fake tan, and our repeated attempts to tell the staff (a manager was not immediately available and our stubbornness was the only thing that eventually made the general hotel manager appear) we were told that due to one of the kids having tinted moisturizer on her legs - applied over a week ago, that her legs were "clearly a different color, which is proof she had fake tan on"! After arguing for about 15mins with a supervisor who was essentially calling us liars, (I'm not being bitter here, his demeanor was appallingly derisive) the hotel manager appeared, after about 10mins of speaking with the staff he came out and first addressed a woman who had the same problem, who had been waiting longer than we had, she said at one point that "we were here last night and you let us swim, and it's the same tan she had on last night". he appeared with another woman also a manager who did most of the talking and there was a further 10-15mins of argument where he (fair play to him) said that it "didn't look like all the other fake tanned legs" and the lady who accompanied him suggested that we "produce the product" they eventually agreed to let our kids in later on the evening. While this was happening one of our kids 9yrs old brought her sister 4yrs into the fun room next to the pool to use the ball pit and slides, one of the staff who had been dealing with us prior to management then told her she was too old and had to get out, as the age limit was 5, this again was said in a manner that was not suitable to speak to a child. Overall the whole experience was unsettling for the kids and infuriating for all the adults involved. the whole time from the first young lady (probably about 18yrs old) we spoke to who, when challenged suggested that "she didn't have to speak to us" before walking away to next the supervisor who shook his head smiling, adamant that we were liars and not afraid to make it known, to the management who eventually acquiesced, I have to say I'm thoroughly upset, and if I hadn't paid in advanced I would check out tomorrow, and book into a B&B. Shocking. Collapse
