Stayed for one night after a big trip across Scotland camping and cycling. The receptionist had our bikes Stored safely which was our biggest worry solved. We arrived a little late due to trains issues but the staff in the grill were very accommodating and we had a really good evening. The pool facilities were very clean, but no jacuzzi! The only annoyance was house keeping disturbing our first lie-in in comfort. If we haven't checked out leave us alone! Thanks to the great staff it's a well run and very highly recommended hotel. I booked a night in the Marriot with 3 friends as a treat, we were planning a night out in Glasgow with a number of things to celebrate and we felt that we would treat ourselves to a stay at the Marriott as usually we stay at the Radisson blu. I speak for all four of us when I say how disapointed we were with the entire experience. Once we had checked in our keys did not work in the door, two of us went to reception to get them looked at and ended up waiting behind a queue of 20 or so airmen who were all checking into seperate rooms, there were only two members of staff on the desk. The result of this is that when my friend and I got the keys sorted our other two friends had been sitting in the corridor outside our room for over 20 minutes, not a good start. We could not open the window more than a couple of inches as the room was stifling hot, i understand that this is a safety feature so we put on the aircon which also did not work. We called reception and they sent Konrad from maintenance who then fixed it for us. We attempted to log onto the Wi-fi and got a message which stated that the wi-fi was chargeable unless you were a rewards or elite customer which we were not. We also had two cars between the four of us and we were told that there would be a £10 charge per car added onto our room bill!! We did manage to get this removed after formally complaining however it beggars belief that we should be required to pay £20 in car parking after already paid £94 for the room for one night!! We did not have breakfast because at a cost of £15.50 it is somewhat overpriced! (I did read a response to a previous review where a Marriott member of staff stated that the breakfast is £12 if you book it a day in advance however we were not informed of this at check in so could not be expected to know). We were interrupted by the hotel maids on two seperate occassions asking if we were ready to leave so that they could clean our room, check out was at 12 and we checked out a little BEFORE 12 so surely we should have just been left alone until the 12 oclock deadline arrived?? Lastly when my friends and I were getting ready to leave and fancied a hot beverage in the room we discovered that we would be required to take it in turns to do so as we were only supplied with 2 mugs, 2 glasses, 2 biscuits etc. Why sell a room which has two queen sized beds and is therefore suitable for 4 people but only provide enough amenities for two people?? I cannot understand it at all. I thought that the Marriott name was synonomous with quality and luxury, the Glasgow Marriott was neither of these things and I will not be staying again and neither will my three friends. Collapse

Last time I traveled to Glasgow (a year ago) I stayed in Park Inn by Radisson and I wasn't really happy so I decided to try a different hotel this time. I'm glad I did - the hotels have similar rate per night but Marriott is without no doubt better quality! Big reception desk with several members of staff (in Park Inn there is a small counter and you need to call for service), large lobby, nice bar (with Starbucks). My room was large, quiet and comfortable, the bathroom was big and clean. The only complaint I can make is that there was no remote control in my room, but when I called the service desk they brought it immediately. I wish there were robes in the room and I wish they had room service - but I can't really complaint about it because it's a 4* hotel so they don't really have to (not really sure about the robes though because most 4* hotels I've been to did have them). There was also no mini bar/fridge in my room. I personally don't mind, since I never use the mini bar, but I thought I'd mention it. They did have a tea/coffee and biscuits and a number to call in case you wanted ice. I loved the breakfast (again no comparison to Park Inn) they served eggs (different types), sausages, beans, fried tomatoes, hams, cheeses, several types of bread, pastries, cereal, fruit (including dry fruit) and several kinds of juices. All nicely served, trays being filled up all the time (I had breakfast at 7 and at 9 the other day - all plates and trays were full all the time). There is also staff serving tea and coffee. I definitely see some room for improvement, but I enjoyed my stay and I would recommend this hotel. Let me say again - in comparison to Park Inn you get so much more for the same price, so in case you're hesitant, I recommend Marriott. Collapse

I really loved the classic decoration in the common areas and the room (red velvet, lampshades...). Very expensive, but rich breakfast buffet. It was kind of rude to be chased out of the breakfast room shortly after the breakfast hours are over. Otherwise, the staff was helpful. The concierge was particularly helpful. Too bad that there is a parking fee for hotel guests. The hotel is conveniently located in the city center, within a very short walk from the central station. It is easy to reach if you are driving in from another city. We initially booked for 3 nights, but wanted to cancel one of them at the reception as we decided to spend it in the Highlands. Too bad that the answer was no... Collapse

Upon arriving at the hotel after the designated check in time, we were advised there were no rooms ready. I expressed that we had plans and needed into the room. We then went to the room to discover that it had not even been cleaned! I contacted reception who asked us to return to the bar and they would get us a drink while we waited on housekeeping cleaning the room, which was a nice gesture but we arrived to check in at 14:15 and did not get into our room until 15:30. Really not great when we had other things on. Later at night we then went to put the TV on and it had no signal. I phoned reception and they advised me to 'check all the cables were in right'. So I did, but still not TV signal. I called reception again and they said they would send someone up. On arrival the unit had to be pulled out and the TV reconnected to the aerial. In the morning, after being disturbed 4 times by housekeeping, we found the shower to be very grubby and it was loose so kept falling out of the holder, resulting in a very unpleasant shower and the bathroom floor being absolutely soaking. The rooms are very dated and do not have a fridge. Definitely not worth the £150 we paid to stay here. One of the plus points is that residents parking is offered for a rate of £10. This was our first stay at the Glasgow Marriott and I doubt we will return to stay here anytime soon. Collapse
