One bed apt was basic and clean. Too small for us + two small kids. Couldn't make use of balcony at night as kids' pull out bed blocked door to it, so had to go out every night. Air Con a big plus though. Nearest pool ok. Beach was great and at bottom of street. Highlight of wider area is Cala Mondrago beaches and food at bar there. Starfish boat to Cala Figuera and long lunch at restaurant at top of main street, full of locals, was excellent. Collapse

Cala Gran is great value for money, we always get a great deal.. You get what you pay for, the hotel is clean, bedrooms basic but comfortable, nice pool and good food (and plenty of it throughout the day). For the price, you cannot fault this place. We have visited with family a few times.. Great all inclusive, 2 mins from the beach and about 20 mins walk from the beautiful marina. If you’d like a short break or a last minute beach holiday, cheap and cheerful, I would definitely recommend the Cala Gran. Staff friendly also! A few pools to choose from. Great for families. We will be back. Collapse

Visited the hotel along with close family to rest for a short break during half term. The hotel although large is spread across two sites joined by a bridge. The rooms were basic but comfortable. In need of a update soon hopefully. The meals were plentiful but lots of the same things. All inclusive was the usual plastic cup brigade. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was swift Collapse

I went here on a last minute booking with husband and 2 teenage daughters, the plus points are definitely the location, situated right in the heart of Cala d’Or with the beach and everything on your doorstep, also the staff especially the reception staff were always very friendly and helpful and deserve to be congratulated for there excellent service they provided always with a smile... the negatives, the hotel is rather dated and the 1st room we were offered smelled a little of damp and not situated in the best place( ground floor on the road side of the hotel opposite a bar) we asked to upgrade for the cost of a small fee which the hotel staff were extremely helpful in sorting this for us, the room we were given was much better than the first, only complaint really was balcony’s are very small for a family of 4 to sit out on, I would recommend if anyone was to come here that they also choose the self catering option , we went half board and ended up eating out on many occasion, the ‘English breakfast ‘ selection was barely warm and the sausages were awful, most mornings we went for the safe option of toast! A couple of mornings we paid and went for a lovely English brekkie at the restaurant over the road, The evening meals were just ok but somewhat felt like school canteen meals, would definitely recommend eating in the town at many of the lovely restaurants instead...all this said for the location , the friendly staff and the price we paid we had a lovely hol but because of it being quite dated and food not great sadly don’t think I will be returning. It takes an hour to arrive at this hotel. And we where the first off the bus.We recieved a glass of cava and kids got juice which was nice.We where on the 6th floor over the bridge. The room was clean and big enough for the 3 of us .You have to hire a fridge for the room as they dont have them in the rooms the 1st did not work so they brought another 1 which was bigger and a lot better. If you have problems with walking this hotel is not for you it is so big and were we where it has just a small lift to the floors it barely holds 2 people and there luggage. Now when going to the restaurant if you are at the pool you have to come up stairs and walk over the bridge and then go down stairs again. This hotel is far 2 big and the pools arent big enough for the people that be there .All you seem to do at this hotel is walk, and then up and down stairs. We were all inclusive drinks and snacks ok my g/son like them so he had always something to eat.But in the dining room it didnt seem big enough for the people who where staying at this hotel and at times you had to wait but the staff tired there best to get you seated as soon as possible. But the food at times was warm not hot and i like my food hot and not cold so most of the time i was disappointed with the food .the dining room staff was very helpful and friendly . The hotel is on a bit of a hill so the sreets around it either go up or down as i said before if you have trouble walking this not for you. There is a spar in the next street but it is up hill and round the corner but they have a door in the street but it is never opened and would save you a hell of a walk if it was opened and there is a couple of bars and restaurants in the street as well and they look nice. As i said before we where on the 6th floor and our balcony looked over the street that runs along side it ,it is noisy at times you could hardly hear what anybody was saying while sitting on the balcony and having a cup of tea or just chilling at night. And hardly any sun just some dead old tree that should be cut down for some space . Now entertainment kids disc and some quizs and games some to me seemed risky running round the pool as most people had drink on them and could have fallen in so was dangerous. It didnt suit me but everybody is different The bar staff are very friendly and helpful and got to know you and what drink you had so top marks . Went to the marina on the sunday just boats thought it would be like lots of marinas i have been to lots of shops and bars and restaurants but not this one just boats and more boats so no thanks to that .But we found the jolly roger pub im nearly sure that was what it was called the owner was a english lady and was so friendly and helpful and telling us where to go and phoned a taxi for us to get back to the hotel so many thanks. We had to hire a kettle because my own that i bring everywhere with me broke down so 14 euros it was only for 2 days you had to bring it back when leaving to get your deposit back and the old man on the desk was really grumpy and could barely speak to you to check you out so everybody bring your on kettle and cups .And then you have the tourist tax so on the day i arrived for the fridge and tax was almost 50 euros and they keep trying to charge you not just this hotel but all in majorca.bring you own towels for the beach or pool why would you not. Im sorry if i went on a bit but this is a review to the best of my knowledge i dont write bad reviews for the sake of it .I always give and take in reviews so i went to cala dor so would i go back no thank you.But many thanks to all tha staff cleaners dining room and bar staff Collapse
