We have just returned from a week long stay at Chico (2 adults 2 boys 11 & 17). We took Taxi from Airport at cost of €75 taking around 45 mins compared to a 1-2 hour coach transfer. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady on Reception who issued bands, took tourist tax and copies of passports. Within 15 minutes of arrival we were in our room. Apartment A26 was lovely position with 2 sofa beds for boys in Lounge area and a double in the main bedroom. Basic but very clean. Only negative my wife found with room was lack of Mirror on dresser to do her makeup. Entertainment was very good kicking off with kids Club at 9 followed by Adult entertainment. No entertainment on a Saturday which is strange but it gave us an excuse to have a night up the town. Beach is max of 5 min walk away, a beautiful little cove with sandy beach, sun beds (€6 per day), pedlow (€25), and amazing rocks you can climb and jump off. Local shops on doorstep. Food was as good as any other 3* resort I've been in Europe but you may struggle if you are a picky eater. We found entertainment staff very friendly and Bar staff very good especially Rebecca and Mauros. Wifi chargeable but cheap at €15 per week. Pools lovely with plenty of free sun beds. The only complaint I would make is that there is no or very very low level music around pool in day, I expect to hear music whilst lounging around the pool. October weather was good but not scorching with 2 cloudy days. Booking again for next October! Collapse

We arrived late on the Wednesday evening and after a long transfer from the airport we were greeted by a security guard to check in. All he seemed concerned about what getting the tourist tax and our passports. He then marched us across to the apartment building over the back of the complex in the pouring rain and then marched off again. Upon entering the room we were confronted with a couple of sofas and a 'double' room which consisted of 2 unmatched single beds pushed together which didn't even leave enough room to open the wardrobe. We then looked at the sofas which turned out were for the kids to sleep on. So tired, wet, hungry and thirsty we were expected to then make the children's bed for the night! I was not happy so went back over to reception to see what could be done. I was basically told I would have to come back in the morning and when I asked if there was anything they could do in terms of a drink, not even something to eat the same security guy just shrugged his shoulders. Not a great way to start the holiday. In the morning we spoke to reception and we were moved into the main building which was more secure for me but still the children didn't have proper beds to sleep on but I wasn't going to go through changing again with no guarantee there will be proper beds for them in any room. In the end we had the kids in with us for most of the holiday. I wouldn't say this is a hotel, its more apartments which isn't what we really wanted when booking. We also had an issue with the evening entertainment as this took place over the road in an open air venue. Sounds nice but due to it being open air there were no restrictions on smoking so we spent the whole time avoiding clouds of smoke and vape and ended up cutting short the entertainment most nights. One positive was the kids club. We used this for a couple of days and the kids loved every minute although the hours its run don't allow you to go off and do anything in the time between apart from a bit of shopping or having a quick drink. On the whole the location of the hotel is quite good, its clean and we enjoyed our holiday despite the set backs but unfortunately we would not stay in this hotel again. I think they have some way to go to achieve good customer service. Collapse

I have waited until now to review this place in the hope I might save like minded people from making the same mistake as us. If you are considering this place for a self-catering holiday for next year I would strongly advise against it. I stupidly ignored all the negative reviews and booked us for 17 nights in what turned out to be cell block H. I will not give you a monologue of events but believe the bad reviews and photos of rusty cutlery, holes in curtains, soap scummed shower curtains, towels like wafers and the very thin sheets which I had to threaten to bring to reception after they were not changed for almost 12 nights and of course the old monstrous T.Vs. (I have put better on the skip) The place is soulless and some of the smells and views from the rooms ????. You cannot buy a decent drink or cup of coffee anywhere as no one tends the bar. It's set up for all inclusives to help themselves. We went half board for 4 days. When we tried to buy two glasses of wine we were given the wine on tap in the dinning which again was for the all inclusives to help themselves. Frankly I would not disgrace chips with it so we sent it back and bought a bottle. We were then practically accused of stealing the gut rot when we took the remnants of the bottle in. the next evening. Yes some of the staff are hard working and yes the food is quite good. So if you want a week all inclusive lying about the big pool the worst of wear and being territorial about sun beds this may be the place for you. As it was this turned out to be one of the most expensive holidays we have had and the most disappointing. The whole experience has put us off every returning to Cala d'or. We will return to Turkey or Tenerife where we feel valued and welcome. P.S I did e mal Giselle who normally answers these emails while we were there and surprise surprise! No reply Collapse
