There has been a hotel on the beach at Garryvoe since the early 1900s and while the world has changed beyond recognition, some things have thankfully remained the same – the golden, sandy, five-mile beach; the view of Ballycotton and its lighthouse, and the smiling faces at the Garryvoe Hotel - a family-owned, independent four-star hotel.
We now have 82 Bedrooms, including Suites, Superior Room, Standard Rooms, Family Rooms, Interconnecting Rooms and 6 Accessible Rooms all with open showers. The Accessible Rooms are twin bedded and others have a double bed. The entire hotel is wheelchair accessible with lifts throughout. Our accommodation options include a Bridal Suite, Junior Suites (which have individual terrace or balcony) and our new and upgraded Standard and Family Rooms. (Non-smoking and smoking rooms are available). We offer guests Cots, Chair Beds, DVD Players & DVDs, Board Games and a Babysitting Service (must be pre-booked). All Guests have Complimentary Access to our Health Club which has a Jogging Ring, Swimming Pool, Sauna, Steam Room, Jacuzzi, Outdoor Hot Tub & Fully Equipped Gym. There are dedicated Children's Times in the pool from 10-12 each morning and 2-6 each afternoon.
When you have the best and freshest ingredients in the world you do not mess with them. And at the Garryvoe Hotel we are really lucky, they are all on our doorstep. We get our seafood from the pier at Ballycotton and if you are up early enough you will see the boats landing in every morning. Our meat comes from all local farms through Kelly's Family Butchers up the road in Killeagh. And our vegetables, well you only have to take a trip to the renowned Midleton Farmer's Market on a Saturday to see the selection from our local growers, why would we go anywhere else? That is why we always have a fresh prawn cocktail on the menu, it is why our fresh fish nearly leaps off the plate and it is why people travel for miles for steaks the way nature intended them (it is also why if you ask for new potatoes in December you will not get them!). Whether you choose to eat in our hotel restaurant, the Lighthouse Bar and Grill or snack in the comfort of the Cave Bar, our head chef Kevin O'Sullivan and his team will deliver three simple things: Flavour, Freshness & Simplicity.

This review is long overdue. Last week I stayed in The Garryvoe, this being my 6th visit, and it just gets better. They have totally revamped the Bar & Samphire Restaurant, and with the new library, it is so relaxing, you just don't want to leave. We dined in both The Lighthouse and Samphire Restaurant during our visit, both are excellent and staff so friendly & helpful. Thanks to Stephen, the general Manager and all the staff for making our stay special. We will be back. Collapse

I've stayed at Garryvoe a few times now, and every time has been consistently good. We've always had a very comfortable room with a view of the ocean, which helps when you arrive a bit stressed as it helps to relax. The one-night stays are always enough to feel much better when leaving. Dinner at the restaurant has always been solid with good service and tasty food. Stayed for a wedding in a family room which was clean and comfortable with a balcony with sea view. Wedding food was good fare, had a goats cheese starter and beef main which was plentiful and served quickly. Breakfast was good in general with excellent gluten free selection and continental options. Full Irish and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were above average but could have been better. Spa and pool are excellent and suitable for small children and adults alike. Lots of toys and floats available. Outdoor hot tub was nice and warm. Only other criticism was the the wifi was patchy and slow. The staff were excellent. Would definitely return. Collapse

Our whole experience of the Garryvoe, from the first day we viewed it to the day we were checking out after our wedding, was absolutely seamless and so enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble for the event manager, Ben, and he was always quick to reply to my email queries (and trust me, there were alot!!) All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, our guests are STILL talking about the food... i personally strongly recommend the chocolate marquis for dessert... and the reception room itself was elegant. I would not change a thing looking back, my only regret is not spending more time in the magnificent honeymoon suite!! Highly recommend the Garryvoe for your wedding, and a major bonus is it wont break the bank! Collapse

Stayed here as part of a family group of ten to celebrate an important anniversary. We were sorely disappointed. We used to spend time in the area as children and were really looking forward to the trip. Firstly we had some fussy eaters in the group and didn't want to book into the main restaurant for dinner but wanted to book a table in the Bistro. We called about 6 weeks in advance only to be told that the hotel doesn't take bookings for Saturday evenings but asked us call back the day before we were due to stay just in case anything could be done for us. We did call back only to be told again they would do nothing for us. Eventually we ended up going to a restaurant in another area where they were more than happy to take a booking for ten on a Saturday night. Secondly the rooms were really disappointing. They were clean and presentable but so incredibly dull. No paintings on the walls, old tired furniture and generally tired decor. Also we found it strange that there were no safes in any of the four rooms that we had. The staff were very polite and the public areas of the hotel were lovely but given the price of the rooms I don't think it was too much to ask to be able to book a table in the Bistro even if it was Saturday night. When I spoke to reception staff the following day expressing our disappointment I was greeted with polite smiles and vague explanations but nothing satisfactory. All in all it was a really disappointing experience and we won't be back. Collapse
