I booked this hotel under the name Gallagher's, but found it signed externally as McGettigan's which was a little confusing at first, particularly as all the logo's internally were still Gallagher's. It is in transition and I would expect this to be sorted shortly. Anyway, overall the hotel was good, it needs an update in decor, but again I'm willing to let that slide due to the transition between owners. The food at breakfast was good, though there was a lack of side plate and knife - egg and jam don't mix in my world. The major strength of this hotel were the staff who were really excellent, even in the face of a particularly nasty woman who felt that the receptionists unwillingness to break alcohol licensing hours to be unacceptable. I hope the hotel management works hard to retain these staff. Collapse

Have just returned from. 5 nights stay at McGettigans Hotel (formerly Gallaghers Hotel ) 14th October 2016. Staff from front of house right through made me feel very welcome .. the hotel has very good free wi-fi throughout. Food: Breakfast was very nice with a good choice ..loved the porridge as well as the full Irish with lots of coffee which was topped up by very attentive staff Ate in the evenings in the Warehouse where the food is excellent with very good portions ..again all served up very fast with staff that make sure you are enjoying your meal. Room: Great sized Twin Bedded room with bathroom that was cleaned daily as was the room .. fresh towells changed daily and toiletries were also left by very pleasant staff doing a great job. The room had a safe, tea and coffee facility, and plenty of storage space. Car parking: plenty of space with very easy access to the hotel . I very really enjoyed my stay and I hope in a few weeks time to return on another break to McGettigans .. see you all soon Collapse

The Receptionist that checked us in was very unpleasant so not a good start. Our room was very tired. Dreadful 'stagnant water' type smell from the bathroom. Found a pyjama top lying under the table so reckon housekeeping maybe not up to scratch. I mentioned this to the (different and pleasant) receptionist when checking out and she waived cost of some items on our bill. Breakfast was decent. It was a bit of a faff to get to our 3rd floor room, involving getting 3 different lifts. The Warehouse Bar is really modern, with excellent service and good food. I loved it! I doubt I would stay again unless rooms are refurbished. Collapse

we stayed in the hotel from the 18th to the 21st September. we found that the location of the hotel was great for the price and the staff was very friendly. the floor staff at breakfast were exceptional. on our second day of staying there, when we went down for breakfast on Tuesday 20th we noticed that it was extremely busy and the two girls who were on the floor cleaning tables and tending to people's needs were very helpful and very kind. even though they were ran off their feet they still managed to keep to a very high standard of work and always had a smile on their faces. unfortunately, we forgot to get their names to include in this review but i am sure that the manager is very proud to have staff like them on hand. i am sure that the manager knows who we are talking about due to the dates we have included. one of the girls is going on holidays to Europe soon (within the next year if memory serves me right) now to talk about the cleaning staff. they were dreadful! the reason i say this is that that we brought up a glass of orange to the room from the bar that is attached to the hotel ( which i would like to say has lovely food and the portions are quite big for the price which is nice to see) and we left the room to be serviced (ie cleaned) and when we came back we notice that nothing was touched the beds were just made that's all. at this point we started to realise that the room wasn't cleaned when wee arrived we noticed cobwebs in the bathroom and on the ceiling. the floor wasn't vacuumed and for Pete's sake, the bin wasn't emptied at all when we stayed there. the cleaning staff would want to learn how to clean a room then just make beds and also the bed wasn't made the duvet was just thrown over the bed the sheet on the bed was left tossed by us to see if they would fix it and they didn't. i know it sounds like i am just winding but when you are paying 300-400 for a room for 3 nights you would expect them to CLEAN the room properly. the reason i am giving the hotel a higher review is due to the other staff the two girls that were on the breakfast service and the bar staff which were very friendly as well. the bar is called warehouse it is the bar that we got dinner in one night and it was lovely it is the one i referenced earlier. also, the bar may get noise at night so noise pollution may very. we stayed in room 228 i believe and we hear nothing.
