An excellent choice for a visit to Prague. The room was very comfortable and clean and the service was excellent - the staff all very helpful and friendly. Location is good because it is in a quiet, more residential part of the city, but within easy walking distance of all the wonderful things Prague has to offer. Breakfast was very good too - buffet style with plenty of choice and everything kept well "topped up". I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Prague. Collapse

I stayed here for three nights with my boyfriend. Our room was huge! The staff was very helfull, we arrived early but they still check us in and put our bags in the lugage storage so we could go out in to town. Through out our visit they continued to be very helpfull at the reseption, I can not say anything about the breakfast room staff because they never spoke to us. Our room like I said was very big and it had everythign we needed. The room was clean and spacious and had a safe which was nice. We also loved the bathtub that was in the bathroom. Wi-fi worked well! The only down side was that our room was directly under the breakfast room so in the morning we could hear people moving their chairs in there. I felt that the connections to the centre of Prague were pretty good from the hotel and you could find places to eat pretty easily as well. Just do not go too late in the evening (like after 10pm) then it might harder. There are as well a lot of bars around the hotel so finding a place to grab a drink before or after dinner is easy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone! Collapse

We stayed in this hotel for four nights on a Jet 2 city break on bed and breakfast terms. We upgraded to a premier room for an extra thirty euros a night (you can pay in the local currency if you want) and were given room 111 in the new part of the hotel. The room was large and very clean, with tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge/mini bar, WIFI and a security safe. It had a good sized bathroom with a bath, shower and bidet and was well stocked with toiletries. The room overlooked a main road but the sound installation was very good and all you could hear at night was the muffled sound of the trams. I would agree with another reviewer that a small sofa or some armchairs would be a welcome addition to the room; however, there is a pleasant lounge area on the bottom floor of the hotel and a bar. The only meal served in the hotel was breakfast and this had plenty of choice including hot food and plenty of fruit. The only complaint my husband had was that the toaster does not toast and requires replacing, as all it does is make the bread warmer and tougher to eat. The hotel is about twenty five minutes walk away from the centre of Prague but has plenty of good restaurants, bars and shops in the immediate area. One of the bars is called Bernard's which is nearly opposite the hotel and the hotel reception can give you a ten percent discount card for this pub if you ask. A lot of the pubs in Prague do not have a smoking ban so some of them can be very smokey! To get to the castle and cathedral you can take a number 22 tram which you can catch about a ten minute walk away from the hotel. Travel on public transport is very cheap and you can buy a 30 minute ticket (24 CK), a ninety minute ticket (32CK), a 24 hour ticket (110CK) or a 3 day ticket (310CK) You can buy a 24 hour ticket from reception in the hotel, other tickets can be purchased at stations or certain tobacconists. The time starts as soon as you validate the ticket in the machine on the tram, bus or metro train. The hotel can arrange transfers for you to and from the airport and a taxi will cost about 650 CK each way. There is also a shuttle bus which you can book. Two very good restaurants close by to the hotel are the Leggero (Italian) and the Kozlovna Tylak (very good Czech food and beer). Most of the museums and attractions in Prague have a concession entrance price for pensioners so make sure you have a copy of your passport as proof of age. In summary we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Galileo and we would stay there again if we ever re-visited Prague! Collapse
