I stayed here with my boyfriend for one night in order to be 15 minutes away from go ape. We were really happy with the room size, cleanliness and facilities. There was an iron and ironing board, a kettle, and tea/coffee/hot choc making supplies. There was also a hairdryer but i did not use this. We were pleasantly surprised by the provision of a little bottle of bubble bath. Nice touch. The bed was lovely and comfortable and there were spare cushions for use as we both usually sleep with 2 each. Only issues- the room got really hot, luckily the air conditioning worked really well to cool the room, but it was very loud. Also in terms of noise we did hear a lot of noise coming from the restaurant/bar area til around midnight which was just generally a lot of bass thumping music. Luckily we are late sleepers, but for those who like an early night this may be annoying. We did not have dinner at the restaurant as we did not fancy anything on the menu, however there was a nice chinese literally a couple buildings down so we went there. We also made use of the tesco express next door to the hotel. We did have the breakfast however, and we were really happy with the quality of the sausages and bacon. The reception staff and other staff in the dining room were friendly and helpful. Quick check in and check out. We would definitely stay here again. Collapse

Arrived here on Friday afternoon for a Mother's Day Weekend Treat and we were checked in quickly and professionally by Daniel. We were allocated room 12 on the first floor as I have mobility issues and had contacted the hotel in advance to discuss this, however, there is a stair lift if required. The room was comfortable and had everything you would need eg iron, board, hairdryer, etc. Bed was really comfy and there were extra pillows which we used. Restaurant was very nice and the staff were all very pleasant and attentive. The food was really good and arrived hot and tasty. Drinks were not too expensive for a hotel! Breakfast was an assortment of cereal, juice, hot bacon, sausage, hash brown, tomatoes, mushrooms etc along with pastries, toast and jam. Eggs were cooked to order if you didn't want the scrambled eggs on the buffet. There was a wedding here on the Saturday during our stay but, it didn't affect us as they used a designated room, the disco was a little loud but enjoyable and finished around midnight which was fine by us. I think the rooms would benefit from a mini fridge for keeping bottled water cold and, just a little nit pick, there are no views from the bedrooms but, this shouldn't be a problem unless you plan to spend the whole of your stay in the room. All-in-all my husband and I really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend this hotel. Collapse

Stayed at the Gainsborough overnight for a business trip. On arrival the receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. My room was up on the top floor which had about 5 flight of stairs with 8-10 stairs on each flight, downside is there is no lift. Having said that the receptionist did arrange to have my luggage carried up to my room. The room was pleasant, clean with TV, tea/coffee making. I met a colleague in the bar/restaurant for an evening meal and the food was very good. Only downside is the restaurant could maybe do with a little more ambiance, and it was a little cool. Breakfast the following morning was self service and plenty of choice although only scrambled egg (you could maybe have asked for a poached egg?? but as I was strapped for time I didn't enquire). would be good to have some mugs at breakfast rather than the small cups. There is plenty of parking on site, the building itself is a big old building and could do with a bit of updating, the Wi-Fi does need upgrading too. A pleasant enough stay Collapse
