Stayed here for a couple of nights for my birthday. Lovely old fashioned hotel, staff were delightful and very helpful. My partner who is a bit of a foodie, thought the food here was amazing, congrats to the chef. Good location, near to town, bit of a steep walk back up to the hotel but understand that there is a bus. Beautiful grounds to sit and relax in. My only gripe and this is a tiny one was that the hotel advertises intimate candlelit dining or eating in the family restaurant. Both are next door to each other and there is no wall, just open arches that join the two. Well we must have been unlucky as when we were there the young children in the family restaurant were making such a racket both at breakfast and dinner that my partner and I could not even hold a conversation in the 'intimate candlelit ' area! Such a shame as it did spoil our dining experience. I'm afraid the days have gone when children were told to sit at the table and eat reasonably quietly at the table without running around or shouting and screaming at the top of their voices. Apart from that a nice old place to stay, would recommend. Collapse

Recently visited the spa for the day with my daughter and mother in law. We were treated extremely well from start to finish. One of the beauticians Learne was amazingly helpful and polite. All the staff went out of the way to help us. I am disabled and they saw it would be difficult to get to the restaurant area for our cream tea so they kindly brought it to us on the spa terrace. The facilities were lovely. The pool was lively and warm and the spa was outside shock made it special with the fantastic views. Thank you Fowey Hall Collapse

Fowey Hall is a stunning location and after having a pedicure my friend and I ordered a cream tea. We sat on the terrace and waited - the tea pot with milk arrived with my friend's coffee minus her hot milk. Waiting again and asking the hot milk arrived too late for the coffee - still no scones etc. When the scones arrived they were on their own!! Minutes later the cream and jam arrived then after that plates!! The scones were delicious but why the long waits inbetween - we had booked!!!! Very poorly trained staff or kitchen staff which is a shame as the place is beautiful. Collapse

My wife and I decided on this excellent hotel and location after looking at trip adviser reviews and they were good. I booked a large sea view room which was well equipped wit tea and coffee making facilities a huge, clean and comfortable king sized bed, sofas and chairs all over the room, very nice. I booked a mid week break direct with the hotel with a lovely lady called Morgan, we met her and the other ladies during our stay and they were all very nice indeed, nothing was too much trouble, we decided to go to the Eden project the second day and the reception lady booked the tickets for this and charged our room all very efficient. The breakfast and dinner service was very good indeed, the food was all good quality and served hot! The oldies like us had a separate dining room so we got the peace and quiet without the children who used the other dining room. We love the children around the hotel but also enjoy a meal on our own, this was very well handled by the staff and caused no problems at all. Top marks must go to the Chef and waiting staff as this was excellent in every respect,an interesting menu with a good choice of food, the wine list was comprehensive and covered all qualities and prices. This hotel is clearly equipped for family holidays and think it ideal for this. The swimming pool and spa complex was very good and very clean. Being an old listed building it did look a little tired but this only added to the charm of the place, please don't change anything,it is lovely. There was plenty of parking in the hotel car park but the huge public one was next door if needed. Finally a really big thank you to all the staff who made this short stay so enjoyable, we both would recommend this excellent hotel to anybody, you will enjoy your stay! Kindest regards Chris.A Collapse
