We were just staying for one night as a mid week break with dinner. Our room was Claire. The hotel is a little tired in places but the attitude of staff was positive. Our overnight stay, excluding any pre dinner drinks and wine with our meal came to about £350 inc coffee after dinner and two cups of tea on arrival. Dinner was 2 course for one person and 3 courses for the other. Dinner was fine and good quality with specials of mackerel and venison (the latter being slightly overcooked for our preference). The main disappointment was the room. We know the hotel accepts dogs which is fine by us but whe the B&B rate is £230 a night you don't expect stained carpets in the bedroom! Would we visit again - no. We regularly use the Pig group of hotels of for about the same sum of money we belive get a much much better experience, recognising of course you don't always have with them a sea view. Collapse
Still got it. Just.

We have been to Fowey Hall 6 times within the past 3 years and have (with the exception of one bad bed) always felt the hotel has exceeded our expectations. Perhaps because of this, we have come to take the little things that they do so well for granted. On arrival we were greeted warmly as is the norm; always good to recognise a few friendly faces and shown to our room. It was comfortable, fairly spacious although I did struggle to open the Velux windows as I’m a little short, and needed either my partner to open them or stand on a chair to do so! We felt that the standard of dinner had improved from our last visit but we were left a little disappointed that when offered coffees afterwards, the cafetieres for two had been replaced with a lukewarm singular cup. Touches we had come to look forward to such as the truffles had also gone. As were the beautiful lilies in the snug areas. Having said this, the waiting staff were polite, attentive but never intrusive. However, the biggest and most unwelcome change appeared to be made to the once superb and cooked to order breakfast menu. Instead of locally sourced, high quality produce we were offered a selection of bacon, sausages, hash browns and unattractive looking scrambled egg served at barely more than room temperature in a help yourself style buffet. Some may prefer this, but we felt it was a victory for quantity over quality. That said, once again we very much enjoyed our visit. It’s a beautiful place to stay, very quiet which may not appeal to everybody but if searching for tranquillity, Fowey Hall is hard to surpass. It was therefore a huge disappointment when coming to settle our bill to find that our agreed payment through Luxury Family Hotels for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast was treated as a deposit, rather than a full payment (which I had already made weeks prior to our arrival) and as such, had been subject to the same service charge as items we had incurred in our stay. We paid but seriously this leaves a sour taste. Collapse

This hotel has location, comfort, good design, good food but it does not have the top service that you are paying for. Don't me wrong, the service is extremely friendly, but it is a little unpredictable. Pay top prices for your wine, but do not expect the wine waiter to know anything about it. The rooms are large and well decorated and furnished. We gad two rooms and both were in the Garden extension. But, they have fabulous sea views. You would not expect this from the description. The walk into town is very much down hill but terrific. As is the cliff top walk to the West. The swimming pool is big as is the outdoor decking area. The hotel is very much pet and family friendly. Lovely hotel, that is family orientated in one of my favourite Cornish villages. Food was good, facilities brilliant for children and reasonably priced. Only nag was that even though our room was lovely, it needed a little TLC - painting in the main bedroom mostly. Apart from that it was great and we would return! Collapse
