Our other hotel was cancelled due to hurricane Irma so last minute we booked Fontainbleu. What a treat. They had everything. The pools, the beach, the restaurants, the vibe. You could find a quiet spot if you wanted or be part of the party. And the service and people are the best. They are always smiling and willing to help. The rooms had everything and were very comfortable and we got an excellent view of the pool and beach. Sorry to everyone affected by the Hurricane but it was a blessing in disguise for us. Collapse

My family of four stayed over an extended long weekend. The hotel was absolutlely packed. Although it made for great "people watching" it also detracted from the visit. It was like adults trying to recreate spring break from years past. We tended to stay at the beach - the pools were "fun-loving" and the adult pool was beyond outrageous (people actually lined up chairs in the lobby to hoot and holler, and look down on the craziness below). I feel many people came stay here to take advantage of the location and low rates. It brought in a crowd that I don't feel would normally patronize this property. I know this used to be considered an elegant and upscale hotel years ago. While it still looks nice in the public areas, I'm afraid the current crowd has brought it down several notches. It got a little rough at times(?). Most of the balcony rooms had a nice view, however they were over huge airconditioning units on buildings below that drowned out any hopes of a romantic or relaxing time once you opened the door. The ocean is calm and warm here - much smoother than further north in Florida. The beach arrangement allows people renting the big cabanas to have the front row. This blocks the view of the rows of chairs placed behind them. Chairs are complimentary, but umbrellas are 25 dollars a day. The cabanas run around 200 per day. Having said that - the staff was consistently professional and personable. They were very nice. In particular, our server at the beach, Jessica, remained friendly and cheerful, even though it was over 90 degrees and crowded. She was great and attentive. We enjoyed our time together and Miami is always offers wonderful restaurants and fun things to do! Fountainebleau itself has several excellent restaurants! Plus the Chez Bon Bon! As I said, it is the clientele that is hurting the rating, not the hotel itself. Not sure how management can control that vs having filled rooms? The room next to ours was a double yet had six people staying in it. However, during our next visit, we will most likely stay at another hotel. Collapse

Stayed in the Versailles tower, room was modern and impeccably clean .We arrived at night and woke in the morning to a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean, Miami beach and the vastness of the Fontainebleau complex . This hotel really is huge , not dissimilar to what you get at Las Vegas. We never encountered a single problem while we there , all the staff were marvellous and the guests were well behaved too . Having said that. the night club LIV was down because of renovations and it would have been interesting to see what sort of crowd it pulled in . My biggest concern was for food and drink pricing , as a family of 5 , my wife , myself , and 3 ravenous boys , and judging by what people were saying , we were going to be hit hard in the wallet .......and they weren't joking , its very expensive . You do have the option to eat out of course but like others have said there isnt a gulf of restaurants nearby and you really would have to take a cab ride. We ate at Vida for breakfast every morning and it was fantastic , probably our best breakfast experience anywhere to date , attentive staff , great fixtures and fittings , marvellous selection of food. We chose the buffet and this turned out to be our cheapest meal time coming in at around $160 for five of us. For the evening meal we either chose Michael Mina or Scarpetta , both extremely professional and equally enjoyable .The staff at these two establishments really do look after your every need and theres plenty of them , when it came to serving our entrees at least 3 or 4 waiters brought our plates to the table , you feel special ..The bill generally came to around the $450 mark and we were not pushing the boat out either , both my son and me had a couple of beers and my wife and other two sons drank water , no starters and a couple of shared desserts . For us Miami was a once in a lifetime experience and with that in mind we took the knocks as far as pricing was concerned and in any case it gave us the full Fontainebleau experience. We used the gym a couple of times and it was extensive with great views of the pools and gardens, my 14 year old son was worried he wouldnt be allowed in but made it no problem. The weather could have been better , hurricane harvey was bringing a fair bit of cloud in but unlike a washout at some spanish hotel were everyone gets depressed and sulky , the fontainebleau has away of keeping the smile on your face , just being there is a cause for celebration. We loved our stay here and would go back in a heart beat , overall a stunning Hotel Collapse

Spent a week during Thanksgiving and had a great time with the family. The sushi restaurant is 5 stars, as is the spa. All restaurants are also excellent. The photos of Sinatra and other stars is a great nostalgic walk back through the cocktail society of the 50' and 60's. The pools are well laid out, with one for adults only. Service everywhere was pretty impeccable. The beach left a lot to be desired, as it was very narrow and extremely crowded. Collapse

I have been lucky to have stayed a number of times at the Fontainebleau...More than 6 different stays over the last years. It was one of our preferred business conference destinations and it became somewhat of an Annual/Semi-Annual tradition. As a business and conference destination the hotel delivers good value; very good, well equipped meeting rooms and conference facilities. As a holiday or leisure destination it offers so much; great banqueting, spacious and luxurious rooms, amazing pools, fantastic entertainment. I have enjoyed every single moment of every stay and look forward to heading back sometime soon. Very highly Recommended. Collapse
