We stayed at this hotel for a couple of days and booked two rooms for our stay, one of which was quite large and full of light whereas we had to switch the other one twice. The first room was very small and timid (and depressive! It had posters of scary movies hung on the wall and it was making you go crazy!) and the other one had a water leakage. The rooms were quite old and lacked some renovation. Bathrooms were small, offering no bathroom kits - only a shower cap and a shower gel that was empty the first day. The breakfast was quite good though: it offered a beautiful view of the city and a good variety of foods as well. The reception staff was extremely friendly and nice - we got to talk to them a lot about switching the rooms and other small details and they happened to be very friendly and helpful, always ready to solve your problem. If you need a transfer to the airport, just contact them and they will organize the transfer with a proper car and at a good cost. Overall, this was not a bad choice considering that it had all the amenities and a great location. Collapse

I had read mixed reviews about this hotel but chose to go for it for the original interior design concept and because most importantly it had air conditioning. The hotel was centrally located and a walking distance of avenue de la liberdad just like promised. I had booked a room for 3. We were given a room that consisted of some sort of long entrance adjacent to the actual room itself. One of the beds were put in that entrance and the two other ones were in the room. It didn't bother us at first until we found out that that "entrance" didn't have any air conditioning. When i asked reception if they had a room with air conditioning everywhere the receptionist was borderline rude to me and giving me attitude for asking a stupid question. Also when we sat down on that bed we noticed it was a sofa or some unidentified object on which they had put a big wooden piece to place a mattress on it. The bed was very unsteady and could fall if two people sat on it. The side lamps were not working in our rooms The red lights were extremely annoying to the eyes. Also for some weird reason the electric socket was related to the light switch. So what happened is that the first night when i went to sleep i switched off the light thinking my phone would charge and i woke up the next day with my phone empty because i had switched of the lights which also switched off the electric socket Also i get that we need to preserve the environment but if i keep the air conditioning on in my room because the small room adjacent to us doesn't have air conditioning i would like to have house keeping keep it that way. It's summer in Lisbon and it gets hot sometimes. I would keep the key card in the key socket but turn off all the lights and only keep the AC on and leave. I would come back to the hotel to find that the AC was switched off and the small room adjacent to the main room was hot. Also the room service number didnt work and the reception number didnt work. We kept calling because we wanted another pillow but no one ever answered And one last thing. One of the closet door was missing Overall its not a terrible hotel but i wouldnt want to go there again if i ever went to Lisbon again. I would try to find something different Collapse

We stayed in the Jimmy Stewart room, which was clear and spacious, but showed a little wear and tear. Overall a great boutique hotel, about 10-15 minute walk to Restauradores metro stop. Visit the Sky Bar for a drink.

Retro is just another word for 'old' in this case! Wallpapers came off the wall and the ceiling. In the corners of the bath there was a lot of filthy things. Towels didn't smell very fresh. Staff didn't even look up when we came in, a 'good day!' was too much asked. But the luggage guys - in our case - were very friendly. Breakfast is good, but simple. It isn't too far away from the center. Wasn't a nightmare, but we're not going there again. Collapse
