Close to lots of busses, the metro and the train station. Breakfast is good. The breakfast staff are overworked and service is very slow. The room is large and the bed pretty comfy with extra pillows. The desk staff were always helpful. However the bath smelled of mildew. Our room faced the street and was pretty noisy. The wifi requires you to redo the password whenever you stop using it for a few minutes which is a nuisance. The price is good for the convenience and breakfast. Collapse

My mother and I stayed at this hotel from 8/28 until 9/6/2016. We checked out for one night during that time to travel to Venice. We changed 3 rooms (all 3 with terrible views), and only the last one was more or less okay. The first room was too cold because the temperature was set at 16C (60F) and it was impossible to control the temperature regardless of my efforts. I turned the air conditioner off and then was not able to turn it back on. I requested assistance, they turned it back on, but it was again running at the freezing 60F and the temp control did not work. I got sick on 9/1 and still am sick on the day I am writing this review! (9/12/2016). After we returned from Venice on 9/3 we were moved to a different room with the water leaking and not working air conditioner. It was 100 F outside. We immediately requested assistance, but were told that they could move us to a different room only next morning. Nobody even tried to fix it that evening. So we slept through the hot night with the water constantly dropping from the air conditioner. They did move us to a better room next morning, and the last 2 nights were the only decent nights at the hotel. Some staff members were friendly, some were indifferent and kind of rude. To end on a positive note, breakfasts were not bad with a variety of bakery, breads, fruit, and cheese and lunch meats, and servers were very friendly. I am giving the hotel only 2 stars due to the issues I described. I do think the rates are overpriced because the hotel is very old and requires a lot of repair. Again, the location is perfect, next to the railway station (Termini), close to Nazionale, Piazza della Repubblica and a 20 minutes walk to Piazza Venezia and Largo Argentina. Collapse

I checked into Hotel Fiamma on the 22nd of July, after having travelled from Venice, down through Tuscany with my girlfriend over the space of 8 days, with Rome being the final destination of our trip. We were perfectly aware that the hotel wouldn't be luxurious, but we were happy enough to sacrifice that given the location, just a few minutes walk from Termini train station. The following describes our experiences at the hotel. We booked a double room for 4 nights between the 22nd and the 26th of July. We arrived at the hotel around 4pm on the 22nd of July, and on the outside it appeared as expected, which was dated but retaining some sort of charm. We were allocated room 412 by the very efficient and well presented receptionist, and headed upstairs in the tiniest lift that I've ever been in. However, it was only on heading into the room that we were faced with what we would have to put up with over the next 4 nights. The room itself was tiny, to the point that there was no space for both suitcases. Not particularly a huge issue, and something that we could easily deal with. What my girlfriend and I could not tolerate were the following issues: 1. The floor was filthy, particularly in the corners of the room. It looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time, and the surfaces were thick with dust. 2. There was a large stain on the curtain 3. The headboard of the bed was not actually attached to the bed, it was in fact purely for show, and when my girlfriend sat back against the bed, it came away from the bed completely. 4. The one and only plug socket in the room was hanging dangerously off the wall. 5. We were not provided with any small towels, instead being given a small pile of what I can only describe as linen napkins to dry our hands with. We decided that we would try and make the most of it, despite the issues above, as the bed itself was comfortable enough, and as with any city sightseeing break, the hotel is just somewhere to sleep and eat breakfast. The first morning of our stay was, unfortunately, the straw which broke the camels back. Having taken a shower, I stepped out to be faced with practically a river in the bathroom, as the shower had obviously leaked everywhere. I am not lying when I say that there was a inch of water on the bathroom floor. After showering and doing as much as possible to mop of the water, my girlfriend and I headed down to breakfast. "They can't do breakfast wrong, surely?" I said as we walked down to the stairs to avoid the claustrophobic lift. The breakfast area itself was fine, but the food looked of a very poor quality, and tasted even worse, while the waitresses which were on duty were unkempt (one in particular, with died red hair, was wearing a very off-white blouse which hadn't seen an iron in months) and was cleaning tables using the palm of her hand to just brush crumbs to the floor, and then serving coffee to guests straight away. We made the decision that, for the sake of our sanity, we had to get out of the hotel, so we found another hotel to move to, putting us some €200 out of pocket I might add. When we advised the gentleman on reception that we were checking out, around 3pm on the 23rd of July, he looked very disappointed but could not have been more apologetic about it, even offering to try to find another room in one of the group's sister hotels. We politely declined his offer, as we did not have high hopes for another hotel within this group given the quality of this one. He took down details of or concerns and promised to pass them on the management, and arranged a taxi to get us out of there. In conclusion, we were both highly disappointed, to the point of being disgusted, at the standard of this hotel, and feel that the room which we were provided does not meet the basic standards for human habitation. Having pre-paid for the room, we were unable to only pay for the one night which we had stayed, but safe to say we have asked for a refund for the nights which we didn't use. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. It's honestly the worst hotel that I've ever had the misfortune of staying in. Collapse
