Just returned from staying at this wonderful hotel - 4th year in a row Daddy & daughter holiday Standards remain as high as ever and every year we return its the same great staff. Retaining the staff means the managers must be doing something right. Mention must go to Cristina and Goofy (as always). Fantastic animation staff that allows (if daughter wants to) to go to kids club while i have time to relax knowing she'll be having alot of fun Mini disco and bingo is fun. Michael Jackson act was great again Looking forward to returning next year for our 5th time Collapse

We spent a week at this hotel in early October and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a superior room which was ample for me, my wife and our 3 year old girl. So, things I liked... 1) The kiddies pool is smashing for little ones 2) The rooms are a good size and comfortable 3) The service in the hotel is spot on 4) The food in the restaurant is varied, plentiful and hot (we stayed half board) Things I wasn't so keen on... 1) The room we had (216) was opposite the entertainment, which was far too loud. This is not me being a moaning old man (I'm under 40!) the volume was unnecessarily loud. It did however finish punctually every night 2) being October the pool area was quiet(ish) but still felt a bit crowded, I wouldn't like to be there at peak season 3) the kiddies pool is great for the little ones, but freezing cold. The larger pool gets no sun, so is even worse! 4) Calling the beach in the literature is a stretch at best, it's a 10 metre wide bit of rock with some sand and seaweed 5) they need bigger bath towels, I'm not a big bloke but they were too small for me 6) we were told, as part of getting the superior room, we'd get a free mini bar. We did, but don't expect any beer / wine, you get a couple of soft drinks and water. Fair enough, it's refreshed each day, but we still felt a bit cheated Overall, this is a nice hotel and we very much enjoyed our week there. With just a few adjustments (and a room further away from the entertainment!) this could be a really great place to stay. I always ask when leaving a hotel 'am I going to miss this place and would I come back'? The answer in this case I'm afraid is no, it's a perfectly ok hotel, but that was its problem, it was ok, fine, decent, but not necessarily memorable. Collapse

We have just returned from a fabulous 11 nights at the Fergus (booked through Jet2 Holidays). Our room was on the 5th floor. Clean, bright and plenty of room in the bedroom to bring in the pull out bed. Not so much storage for clothes in the bedroom itself but a big walk in type separate room / wardrobe had plenty of luggage space, hanging space and shelves (including safe). Fridge (always with a fresh bottle of water each day), kettle and tea / coffee. Uncomfortable settee (didn't matter...we spent most spare time outside on the balcony...not in front of the telly!). Great bathroom with plenty of towels (changed daily if you wished) and hairdryer. Impressive sized balcony with table, chairs and sun lounger. Our room overlooked the outdoor area so some may find it noisy at night (we didn't) but evening entertainment generally finished by 10:30pm each night. The food was brilliant. My hubby is a vegetarian and there was plenty of choices outside of the usual pasta and salad for him. He did say that even after our 11 nights there, he still wasn't bored of the food or selection. The most we had to wait for a table was 10 minutes and by the end of our holiday (as the hotel season was drawing to a close), there was no wait at all. A special hats off to the chefs on Halloween as they really went to town with a whole range of themed and decorated foods. Also impressed by the fact that as all inclusive guests, you could book pack ups to take out which worked out ideal when we hired a car for a few days. We would book a lunch with reception the night before and then pick it up from the restaurant at breakfast. We discovered this service by accident (saw someone else collecting lunch bags) so not sure if this is something the hotel advertise as part of the services available...well worth knowing. There's lots of things for the kids to do. Again, we tended to be out most days but the mini club always seemed popular and our 7 year old loved the mini disco. We also discovered the inside GamesZone Room towards the end of our holiday (just to the left of reception...don't let the small doorway put you off as it opens out in to a fantastic space for kids)..mini cinema, games consoles, craft activities etc. Our boy loved spending half an hour in there while we had a game of bingo in the evening! As so many people have pointed out on their reviews, the Animation team were second to none. Quite possibly the best (and most talented) team I have ever seen at a similar type of holiday. Special mention to Christine and Goofy who just didn't stop! Bags of energy and clearly top pros at developing brilliant relationships with the kids and their families. Overall, we thought Fergus put on some great family friendly evening entertainment...some by the Animation team...others from visiting singers, acrobats, illusionists etc. Again, I must mention the effort that the hotel and Animation team went to on Halloween. We just wish we had known in advance so we could have taken costumes etc. with us. However, we had a lovely time in the morning carving pumpkins which were then displayed throughout the restaurant and on stage. As others have already pointed out...the outside pool was cold!! This didn't stop hubby and son but having taken a plunge once at the start of the holiday, it wasn't something I was quick to experience again!! Maybe it was the time of year we went or maybe its a fundamental flaw in the planning and building of the hotel, but the reality was the sun didn't shine on the adult end of the pool much so it was never really going to warm up much! The sea was a far better option. The hotel has a small bay area (don't go expecting a beach) where the sea was lovely. I see there have been complaints about the smell there and maybe that has led to a sign on the pool bar explaining that the smell comes from decomposing seaweed and explaining that local Government are responsible for the upkeep of all beaches i.e. not the hotel. What I will say is the sea was clear and there was plenty of life within it...great for snorkelling. The beach in Santa Ponca was also very lovely...about a 15 / 20min walk away. The grounds were lovely and well kept. The hotel has a couple of ponies. There's outdoor games area (football, volleyball and table tennis), a zip cord and even a little vegetable garden. Across the road from the hotel, there's also a little park. We hired a car for a few days (VW Golf, 31Euros a day) through OK Cars (booking stand available in reception) and had a great time exploring more of the Island. The hotel was literally closing up as our holiday drew to an end (they close 5 November until March time), but this didn't impact on the quality of service we received in all aspects of our stay. Would be more than happy to recommend this hotel. Collapse
