First impressions as entered the drive were quite delightful. I would advise if you have a lot of luggage to use the drop off point at the entrance as the car park is at the rear, although there is a side entrance just near the disabled carpark. Check in was most efficient with our luggage being taken to the room while we checked in. We were allocated room 27 which was quite a walk & up stairs from reception but we were taken to our room by the concierge. The room was very spacious & just as advertised. The air con was excellent, very efficient together with 2 opening windows. The room & bathroom were spotlessly clean & remained so during our stay. Bathrobes were provided but no slippers. There was a small fridge which was stocked with fresh milk & 2 bottles of water daily together with an excellent selection of tea coffee, hot chocolate etc. Two comfortable chairs & table & a very comfortable bed. The only downside to the room was that on the first 2 nights we had someone in the room above in fact at 11.30pm it sounded like a herd of elephants!!! so noisy that it woke us both up!!! Shame because it was lovely & peaceful the following night. Breakfast was quite delightful, wonderful service (especially Jarid) & an excellent selection (I can recommend that you try the pancakes with caramelised bananas it was delicious). All hot food is cooked to order. Now the reason for 4* instead of 5* was sadly the service we received when we had afternoon tea. The afternoon tea itself was just amazing with compliments to the pastry chef for the most delicious cakes. Served in the wonderful setting of the Tudor Great Hall it is one not to miss, however when it came to placing our order & we were asked which tea we preferred, our preference of English breakfast tea invoked the response from the male waiter of "oh builders tea!!!!" In his country it might be amusing we however found it to be most inappropriate & ill judged. This was such a shame as they even brought a little plate of chocolates & sweets with a birthday candle for my husbands birthday which was so kind thank you. I can also recommend the room service club sandwich especially with the addition of chips, but be careful if like us you give a tip, as a service charge is also added to you bill when you check out!! The grounds & walks around the area were beautiful & even wellington boots were provided which was a nice touch. If you are looking for a typical English stay in the peaceful countryside then is not one to miss. I would definitely recommend & would definitely not hesitate to visit again. Collapse

We were given a night away package at the Hotel in Mid May. The Hotel is located in the countryside some distance from towns. The Hotel is about 1.5 miles from the main road along a narrow drive. The setting is spectacular and the building a wonderful old Manor House. Checking-in is not the normal procedure. Rather, you sit at a desk whilst the friendly receptionist gives you all the information you need for your stay. All the staff we met were very friendly. You are then escorted to your room and shown the places you need to know about. Our room was very large with a huge bathroom for a Hotel. Everything had been considered. Glorious old furniture, a huge bed.(Difficult to switch off bedside light which are very tall) There were USB points for charging, the modern TV had USB slots for watching you movies or playing music. Good WIFI. The Fridge (hidden in a bedside cabinet) was a good size and contained (real!) milk and a bottle of water. The bathroom had bath, shower and plenty of hot water. The automatic fan seemed a little noisy but look above the door and it can be switched off. Within 10 minutes of arriving in the room staff rang to check everything was ok. The information book gave details of the history of the Hotel including which room Queen Elizabeth 1 had stayed in.(Next bedroom to ours) It also had pen pictures of all the management team, their career details and personal comments about their current job. This was a nice touch. The Cream Tea was very good and there are choices dependent on your personal preference. The evening meal was 'fine dining' with a good selection and the food was very good. Again the staff were first class. The separate SPA was first class, a good swimming pool, Sauna, steam room and outdoor hot pool. with loungers scattered around outside. The grounds are worth walking for the views and wildlife. The Continental Breakfast was buffet style and cooked food was made to order. We had to wait to long for ours, think we were forgotten. I was really pleased as it showed they weren't totally perfect! There was also a slight mix up with our Bill that was resolved immediately. Fawsley Hall is not cheap, however, for the cost you expect excellence and that is what they deliver. Another superb Handpicked Hotel. Highly recommended Collapse

We stayed for 4 nights and had a stable room which was excellent for us with a young daughter as her bed was upstairs and separate from ours. She also had her own TV which was useful for a little while! The bathroom was a good size and had a separate bath and shower, Location is superb and the local church is well worth a visit. We also did the local walk to the next village and were very fortunate as the weather was spectacular. As usual in Handpicked hotels the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had one issue at dinner on one night, but after mentioning this to the management, who I have to say were excellent in how they handled it, and mortified that we had not had a good experience, the next night was excellent. Food was a good choice, although the menu did not change and we only ate in the restaurant for two nights, so I am not sure if it would have changed for the third night had we eaten there again. There is a very good spa, we used the gym and although small very well equipped and clean and tidy. I also had a massage, and although not too happy I was kept waiting after my allotted time, it was very good and the time was made up. Can thoroughly recommend as the house itself has had an amazing transformation and hopefully we will return. Collapse
