I booked an afternoon tea for my Daughter Alice's birthday requesting an Alice in Wonderland theme. Didn't even think it was possible however the catering staff proved otherwise! The tea served was far above all expectations, the staff and service was brilliant and I will be very happy to recommend this to anyone wondering if they should pay a visit or not. Highly recommended and will certainly return. Collapse

First time at Fawsley Hall. Beautiful setting, glorious historic building, superb views across peaceful fields and woodlands. Lovely staff. So far so good. But...we had booked a room to celebrate an occasion, and when booking, I wrote to the hotel to give them details of the short list of things I cannot eat. Easy to cope with for any cook. This was a few days in advance. Lots of opportunity to contact me and discuss, if it was a problem. We arrived. In the room, biscuits made with ingredients I can't eat, and chocolates, which I can't eat. Nothing for me. For the evening meal, I explained again, and asked for two particular dishes from the menu. The waiter, who was very kind and friendly, went to ask the chef. We were given those dishes, and assumed from this that the chef had understood. Unfortunately, soon after, clear signs that I'd eaten a problematic foodstuff. They also offered me 'gluten free bread', but I explained that it's not a gluten allergy. ( I hadn't written anything about gluten intolerance). I explained that the bread would contain cornflour, which was on the list of things I cannot have. It did. As a result, I had to do without bread, and biscuits, which is OK - but no substitutes were offered. It's possible to use flours made of rice, tapioca, lentil, potato, etc and make a very simple something in a very few minutes. I do. I'm a rubbish cook. It's a two rosette restaurant, so one would assume that the chef and team know their way round a kitchen with far more skill than my own. For an expensive Al La Carte meal, it's a shame to just leave a guest without something as an equivalent, for two courses. So, in summary, fab hotel. We'd recommend to people who do not have food allergies or intolerances, but I'd be worried about sending any of my team here if they had health situations after eating certain foods. Collapse

40 family and friends joined my husband and I for A lunch Party at Fawsley Hall. Ambiance , service & food were superb. We started with drinks in the Grand Hall which is a beautiful room lots of character and charm.Lunch was served in a bright sunny ( yes the sun shone on a late February day) room. Waiters were cheerful professional and attentive. All three courses of food were superb wonderfully cooked and beautifully presented. All the staff involved deserve to be mentioned by name, however, this review would then go on indefinitely.Sam Stacey , events co ordinitor , was excellent Sam listened to my requests offered suggestions and advice was always cheerful smiley and professional. This Lunch was a surprise for my husband Sam was discreet regarding this however a surprise to me was that our son who lives in the USA and ͏m͏y cousin, who was our Bridesmaid and her husband who live in Australia were coming to the Lunch !! Sam and our daughter had also been liasoning regarding extra guests and table plans etc.as a surprise for my husband and I. Many many thanks to all the staff who made this day very very special,Chris assistant general manager and Mark the general manager do a wonderful job in making sure this fantastic hotel and Spar are well run and people friendly. Fawsley Hall is a beautiful hotel and the staff are nice, particularly good restaurant service. We have an issue with our room in that the air-con units will not cool the room below 19 degrees centigrade. This was an issue because we like it cooler in the room whilst sleeping and the room we were in was quite warm as the windows didn’t open very far. So, Fawsley please make your air-con units more adjustable. Collapse

Really sad to say that after being a regular visitor to Fawsley Hall for 17 years I won't be returning anymore. Stayed 3 nights in February as a treat with a friend and didn't sleep well any of those nights. This is because Fawsley has now put in place "controlled" air conditioning which means paying customers can no longer turn the temperature down below 19 degrees - which can be too warm. Very disappointing particularly as when we complained the staff confirmed they would fix it during our stay, but were unable to do anything to help us adjust the a/c settings. Pity HandPicked Hotels have chosen to focus on keeping costs down over retaining long-term customers like me, who recall how wonderful Fawsley hotel was before they became part of HandPicked. I won't be recommending or visiting this once favourite retreat. Collapse
