Visited for a Business event and stayed over: Beautiful hotel with lovely facilities and stunning rooms. Good food and drink. Friendly and professional team. This place is a wonderful retreat if you are in the area or passing through.

If they hadn't fouled up our reservation and been a bit short with us when we arrived I would have given Fawsley an Excellent rating. The setting is breathtaking and the service and breakfast of the highest standards. I suggest that guests walk around the grounds which can be either a short stroll or a 5 mile hike depending on you. My recommendation is that you stay clear of rooms 44 & 46 unless of an extremely athletic disposition or the climbing ability of an Ibex. Had a great time though. Next time I will confirm my reservation before I arrive to make sure. Collapse

We checked into the feature Dadley room surround by beautiful furniture, a four poster bed and a large ensuite. The whole suite oozed features from century's past with high ceilings and the odd squeaky floor board. I haven't slept in a more comfortable hotel bed in some time and the toiletries along with tea and coffee were quality and plentiful. The included breakfast in bed was fantastic and the staff were helpful throughout our overnight stay. Collapse

Travelled her for my birthday and ordered afternoon tea for when we arrived. I must have asked for that bill about 5 times over a 45 minute period and got more and more frustrated. Swimming was between 3-4.30 for children so my daughter was getting more restless and in the end we went to reception and told them to put it on our room we were leaving. Got to our room and my husband had ordered me flowers which weren't there an they didn't arrive until after 7pm :o( Swimming was ok, not great and a bit boring for children. The place is stunning and charges an arm and a leg so really should be better than it is. The evening meal was ok, but the service was great. Breakfast was odd, more interested in what we 'didn't want' from the menu then what we wanted to order? Just strange. The biggest issue was on check out, we asked the previous day for a late check out and were told yes. Next morning my daughter and husband were swimming when the maid rapped the door telling us we had to leave, I explained, we had a late check out and she said 'no, you haven't'. I was taken aback and phoned reception who said 'no sorry, we need the room back so we need you to leave'. To say I was fuming was an understatement. We got ready, and went to reception and asked to speak to the manager. By this time she'd 'found' our late check out details but what use was that, it was all too late and left a very bad taste in our mouth. she offered us lunch, but we declined as we just wanted to leave and couldn't be bothered with any more of their poor service. Suffice to say, we won't be back. Collapse
Disappointing and over priced

Arrived after returning from a holiday to Cuba, as a sixtieth birthday and Mother's Day treat. Table we were shown to was next to a very draughty window so asked if we could sit at the table directly behind. Only one other table was occupied at the time but the waitress said some people request a particular table, but didn't actually check, just closed the curtains. Ate off the Al A Carte menu, seafood bisque, which was okay. Then filet steak at £32 per person. I asked for medium and when it arrived I had barely had time to start the food when the waiter asked if everything was okay. At that point it was, however as I got to the middle of the steak it was clearly undercooked with blood running from it. I left a little bit of the meat as it was too under done for me. When the table was cleared we were asked again about the quality of the food, I said the steak was a little under, to which the waiter said he would inform the chef! Coffee was taken in the Great Hall £4.50 per cup and no sign of any treat to accompany it. When it was served we were asked to pay the bill. I think this was because there were no staff around and you are seated near the front entrance. Implying to me that you are going to leave without paying. Most of the diners were on Dinner, Bed and Breakfast so that wasn't a problem for them. My coffee (a latte) was cold. I had to go back to the restaurant to find someone to ask for a second cup. It arrived after 5 minutes or so and took the skin off the roof of my mouth. It had clearly been microwaved. Bill was £155+, food average and service terrible. Will not be dining there again.
