I went here with the family for my grandads birthday for a sunday lunch. The drive up is amazing you feel like you could be deep in the countryside somewhere and then when you pull into the hotels grounds the hotel is beautiful. Nice big doorway entrance, when we walked in we was greeted and shown to the bar area where we got drinks and waited for the rest of the party to arrive. The waiter couldn't be more helpful and had plenty of knowledge about the hotel. The bar area had just been revamped in a hunting theme and it all looked amazing. There are plans in place for the rest of the hotel to be revamped in the near future. We was then taken through to the dinning room and the food looked gorgeous, we sat down and was offered some warm fresh bread and butter to start before we went up in a carvery style serving. It was all laid out extremely well with turkey, gammon and beef on offer along with bowels and bowls of veg and extra's!! I had a bit off all the meats which were cooked to perfection, then had all the veg and couldn't fault any at all so much flavour and taste in all the veg! The potato's were something else though and would highly recommend going! Once finished outside was set up French bowels and croquet to play, the grounds are just amazing, silent, peaceful and huge with a lovely pond at the bottom! The waiter kept coming out checking on us for drinks and if we wanted anything which was nice we weren't just forgotten about even with creme tea customers turning up. Had the most amazing experience here and will defiantly be going back and would highly recommend to anyone Collapse

Well it's sort of OK for a three star hotel but not wonderful, mind you we were working - and that's what it felt like - around a wedding they were hosting. We paid £174 for two nights DBB. We were staying because we were guests at a wedding a couple of miles west. Weddings do take over a place of course and certainly have priority in all sorts of ways. We normally order tea when we check in, and we could have done, but there was nowhere for us to sit and relax after our long drive from Devon because of wedding gusts filling all the areas, so we made tea in our room. Later we went out to find somewhere in Farnham for dinner as there was no chance of eating at the hotel. To be fair, the wedding set up, both in the garden and in the dining room, did look spectacularly good. No doubt there would have been a happy couple. Our room was on the ground floor and was clean - except for the stained loo - and comfortable; no bath but a shower. TV, Wi-fi and tea making in the room. This ground floor room (10 check if booking)has easy disabled access from the car park. Booking had been straight forward through ' booking.com' . On arrival we had a sort of a welcome but the normal offer of 'can we take your bags' never occurred. Things could have been made easier and more pleasant for us easily enough but we were left with a feeling of 'we are in the way' and so we were. We felt that the hotel should have advised us that a wedding was planned. Our night's sleep was disturbed by 'the empties' routine. This occurs when a tired staff member clears up the bottles after an event by chucking them into a bin round the back. Shattering glass is not contusive to a good sleep! This smashing process was resumed at around 6.30 the following morning. Breakfast was well done with a good variety of dishes available and taken in the pleasant, light and airy dining room. There is plenty of free parking in the grounds and the hotel was generally clean and tidy but a bit threadbare and dowdy here and there. Drivers will encounter the difficult entry to the driveway leading up from the main road (A31). This is a death trap if ever I saw one. Having slowed down to leave the fast road you may not be able to drive into the drive and you will become a major hazard. This applies in both directions on the main road but East to West (from Farnham) is more dangerous. Be wary. So overall it's all a bit 'average' and we would only return if there was no other choice. I hope this is helpful and a helpful tick would be appreciated if it is. Collapse
