I recently visited here with family as an early Mother’s Day treat for my mum. A lovely setting and dining room area. The table was beautifully laid out which set the scene for a really lovely afternoon tea. There were 4 of us and we each ordered different sandwiches from the selection offered - this in itself we thought was very good as you are often just given sandwiches with no choices. The bread was so fresh and the fillings of cold meats of high quality - nicest sandwiches we have had on an afternoon tea. We also received 4 mini cakes each which were delicious and a fruit scone with clotted cream and preserve. There was a good selection of teas and coffees which were unlimited. The service was excellent and I would definitely return and recommend to anyone wanting an extra special afternoon tea. Collapse

When to reception to tell them, the chef came out and apologised. He said he would get the manager to speak to us. When the manager came see saw to 2 workmen, the receptionist took my name and number and would get her to ring me. This has not happened yet Collapse

In February our daughter and son-in-law held their wedding at Farington Lodge - what a day, what a hotel! From start to finish the staff could not be praised enough, on our initial visit for a wedding open day the staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. On the day of the wedding they could not do enough for us to make sure that everything ran smoothly and our daughter and son-in-law had the best wedding they could imagine. Our heartfelt thanks to all the hard working staff, your hard work helped to make this a perfect day. The building and grounds are superb for a wedding, including the bedrooms. We were given breakfast in a private room which was a lovely thought so that all the guests were together. Thank you Collapse

We had an afternoon tea voucher and chose the venue as it was close to home. We had been before and enjoyed the experience. The house and grounds are beautiful, the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea. We were shown to a window table with lovely views of the gardens. The food was presented well, tasted lovely and there was a good selection. However attention to detail was not great. It was a cold day and we were the only ones in the dining room. It was cold and we were left alone for long periods. The tablecloth was stained, the jam and cream pots were chipped, the cake tier had a rubber foot missing and we were not supplied with butter. We could have asked for this at reception but didn't feel we should have to. We could have just walked out and no one would have noticed although there were plenty of staff at reception. We were disappointed and probably won't choose to go again. Collapse
