Nothing "Sweet" About This Embassy

As a loyal Hilton customer and frequent Embassy Suites guest, I had very high expectations for my first visit to The Big Easy. Boy, was I ever disappointed! It is inconceivable to me that an Embassy Suites would attempt to put anyone in a room as bad as the first room we were sent to. There was a horrible oder in the room, and the fix was to offer to send up some Fabreeze. There was no overhead lighting in the living area, and only one lamp. The thermostat in the room was a dial on the wall with no numbers and no directions on how to adjust the room temperature. Wh immediately decided to request a different room. When the bellhop came for our luggage, his first words were "I don't know why they try putting anyone in this room. Everybody comes right out and asks for another room". Really? At an Embassy Suites? When the staff recognizes there is a problem with a room, why doesn't management either fix the problem or close the room? This is not the standard I have experienced at other Hilton properties. I can excuse human error, but when management knows there is a problem and continues to deliberately subject its customers to it, that is unethical. While I requested and was eventually put in another room, the fact that a well respected hotel brand would conduct itself in this manner is a major disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel until management demonstrates that it truly cares about its guests. While I will continue to stay at Hilton properties and other Embassy Suites, I will not stay here again. There are better options where management does care, and Fabreeze isn't necessary. Collapse

Great hotel! Friendly and helpful staff. Complimentary breakfast and evening reception with snacks and drinks. The hotel is slightly old but extremely clean and our overall stay was exceptional! It's located in the warehouse district (where most of hotels are) and it's only a short walk from the French quarter where all the action is happening! Also, 5min walk from the riverview outlets (in case you'd like to add a shopping therapy stop to your trip)! Collapse
Nice large suites but could use a slight updating.

Rooms at all embassy suites are larger than traditional hotel rooms which are nice. The rooms can use new furniture soon as they seem to be showing its age. I also like to take baths but the tub really needed to be reglazed that I didnt dare sit in that tub. Overall, I'd go back if the price was low but I'd probably choose another newer place or one a bit closer to the French quarter. Collapse

Im a bit of hotel snob so I choose to up my rating from the 2 I really wanted to give to a 3 as I know most don't have my high standards. This hotel is so old. The lobby is fantastic and when you enter you will feel it's beauty but that's exactly where it ended for me. Our room was ok. Spacious, but no more than the type Embassy. I booked this suite for myself and two girlfriends for a weekend getaway- this is why I choose this hotel as opposed to other Hilton properties....the suite really did satisfy our needs but it was basic. The bathroom was extra small compared to the room. The toilet made a strange sound after you flushed it. The lights in the room were extremely dim!!!! Beds were ok. We stayed for two nights and the room did not get cleaned during our stay. Cleaning lady came in while we were getting dressed, we asked to her to come back, she agreed but never returned. We had to call down for extra towels. Valet was expensive! We were charged $90 for two nights of valet. Had I known we would have parked on the street. Breakfast and Happy Hour were the biggest plus! Service was fine. Employees seemed knowledgable and helpful, no issues. The biggest turn off that'd keep me from returning was the condition of the hallways. I hotel is built very strangely. We had to walk up/down stairs to get to the elevator on our floor. The hallways are so old. The hotel losses all of it's beauty once you board the elevator. Location was much closer to the FQ than I expected. We walked to Harra's daily as it was only 3 or 4 blocks up the street. All in all I'd stay here again for a short stay when using my Hilton Honor points but I wouldn't pay cash to stay here unless I truly needed the space...and even then i'd shop around. Collapse

Our stay at Embassy Suites was a very good stay. We spent one night before our cruise. Tevin at the front desk was very welcoming when we arrived, which made us feel special right away. The breakfast was OK but you can't complain too much as it's a free breakfast. I will add that the breakfast area was spacious and had plenty of seating, unlike some other hotels that have limited seating in the breakfast area. The hotel is in walking distance of the cruise port if you are staying here before or after a cruise. It is also within walking distance to the Riverwalk Outlet Mall, which has lots of good stores to shop. You can also walk to the National World War II museum which we did visit and I recommend. I like Embassy Suites as you get a separate living area from the bedroom which makes it a bit roomier. We had a nice view of the bridge from our balcony which was nice. There was nothing extra special about the room but it was clean and updated. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel. Collapse
