I was in town for a meeting and stayed here for a few nights. The location was great. Easy walk to the river and the Navy Pier. The room was clean but the paint was peeling in the bathroom. It just felt tired. The breakfast was adequate but very crowded. A 15 minute wait for an omelet wasn't worth it. The free happy hour was also ok. Would have been nice if it included the Chicago beers on tap. Collapse

First time staying at this location.Picked this location, close to Navy Pier, less than 1/2 mile, easy walk. The free breakfast is really good, need to get there early though, gets pretty crowded.Staff is nice, cleaning staff good.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights first week of August. We picked it primarily because of location and reviews. Glad we did. Overall, this is a huge hotel that has to move many people around - breakfast, reception, check-in .... It does a very good job most of the time. We had stayed at other Embassy Suites that felt more luxurious and warm but this is great value and generous space for a big city/downtown Chicago. We didn't use the hotel parking. We used "SpotHero" app and saved a lot of money. There are spots very close to the hotel. Also, a car is really not needed at this location. Many places within walking distance. With Lyft and Uber, it is cheaper to than parking. Pros: - excellent location!!! Walking distance to Navy Pier, stores on Mag Mile, across from Whole Foods, Target around the corner ..... - spacious room for our family of 4 including 2 teenagers; one slept on sofa bed comfortably - clean - 2 sinks in the room (beside the 1 sink in bathroom) seemed excessive at first but they were actually convenient esp with four people in the room - fridge and microwave - great breakfast - reliable wi-fi for us - gym and pool (we used the gym with standard equipment) - rooms and common areas though not totally new, they are not dated either Areas of improvement: - breakfast lines - maybe the lines can be managed better; for the "custom order" line for eggs, I waited for 30 minutes one morning; by the time I got my plate, breakfast was almost over; running out of juice and some buffet lines were closing down; lesson learned - waited in line super early or just don't order eggs - the common areas and the rooms are pretty clean. However, I think the housekeeping can use more help in helping to turn the rooms over; we found shopping bag in the drawer and carpet not vacuumed underneath the sofa bed - the staff hospitality is of a wide range - some are very friendly; some are very distant Collapse

When going on vacation my family always looks to Embassy Suites first; have never had a problem and always left knowing we would always come back. Not so after staying at this particular location. Check-in was a nightmare - not enough staff (only 2) on a long holiday weekend; the wait to get a room was almost an hour which would have been tolerable if I were alone but I had my 93 year old mother and 9 year old granddaughter with me. Rented a wheelchair for my mother and trying to return it to the same service desk was worse than check-in! Pool is super small and very crowded so, if you have small children, may want to consider another location. The interior of hotel is nothing like the other Embassy Suites we have stayed at (very "sterile" looking decor). Worst part of trip - we lost a valuable piece of our luggage due solely to the negligence of the valet service and the hotel takes absolutely no responsibility for the loss as they do not own the valet company. Of course, the valet company (LAZ Parking) was less than sympathetic to our loss as well and we wound up losing ~$2K in belongings. If you choose to stay at this hotel I recommend you do NOT use the valet service. Collapse
