What a wonderful room we had while on a tour of Chicago. The breakfsts were wonderful. It was a full and hot breakfast with many many items. Cocktail time this hotel provided four free alcoholic drinks.

I stayed in this property for a conference with my colleagues, this is a massive hotel with buffet breakfast and free wifi. the room is big with a foyer area(sitting room) with tv and desk. it makes your business trip easier since you have a separate area for work from your bedroom. the hotel is well maintained despite it being an old property. The front desk receptionists were superb. i cannot believe it when I went back the following day to give my hilton honors number, she ( i forgot to get her name but she was the blond girl) actually remembered my name. I though that was amazing for a big hotel. The breakfast area gets very busy in the mid morning but it was ok. the spread was alright with the usual egg station with sausages, breads, pastries and all sorts of drinks. they could improve in giving more fresh fruit varieties. You will get tired of the same menu everyday if you stay more than 3 days. The buffet staff were not very friendly, i guess they have to hurry cleaning the tables for the next guests, there were not much interactions with guests. Overall, this is a good hotel to stay and very comfortable and i feel the warmth of the staff. Collapse

Nice new glass version of an Embassy Suites that is well-located. Close to Navy Pier, the river, and Mag Mile, this Embassy is nearly perfect. The only downside is that they cut corners when building and have very thin walls; we could hear the very reasonably-decibelled family's conversation next door pretty clearly... Even more so when in the bathroom. Bring earplugs, I guess, because with the bomb view on the glass elevator ride, it's almost worth it. Collapse

I stayed at the Embassy while in Chicago on business. I was actually attending a training course at another hotel down the road but chose to stay at the Embassy instead due to past experiences which were good. This hotel did not disappoint. The check in was quick and effortless even though it was late when I arrived. The cooked to order breakfast was delicious each day and was never too busy. The same goes for the managers reception which is handled extremely well given the large number of potential guests. The corner room I had was extremely large with a large sectional sofa in the sitting room, mini fridge, microwave and bathroom leading to the bedroom. Lots of large windows allowed for great views of the city. I was expecting a bit of a noisy experience with the building next door being under construction and the large open air atrium being open to the lobby and bar below but this was not the case at all. Very quiet both day and night. The location of this hotel is excellent. Close enough to main Chicago attractions (magnificent Mile, Tribune Building, Navy Pier) that are all within walking distance but far enough away that you are not within the chaos of being right on Michigan Ave. The only two items that prevent me from giving the review 5/5 are as follows: The lobby/checkin is actually on the 3rd floor. So when you arrive at the hotel you take an elevator up 3 floors to the lobby, then another elevator to your room. It's a bit of a pain to have to wait to two separate elevators just to make it street level. Just a minor inconvenience though. Second, I was forced to cut my trip short by 1 day due to a family emergency. On Tuesday I let the front desk know that I would be checking out on Thursday instead of Friday (48 hours notice) and was rather rudely told that I would have to pay for my unused night anyway because all reservation changes must be made at check in. I certainly didn't know at check in that an urgent situation would arise. Also, I can understand this policy if I was giving 24 hours notice or less however in this case felt that the policy was simply a money grab (especially at about $280/night including tax). Eventually the desk agent allowed me to change my reservation without penalty but not without much huffing and puffing and a scolding from the front desk that they "would NEVER make this exception again". Didn't exactly make me feel like a valued guest. Otherwise an enjoyable stay. Collapse
