My Father booked this hotel for his 80th Birthday celebrations with the family. The staff were very helpful when booking as we required disabled facilities as my Husband is in a wheelchair. This Hotel was actually our second choice as we had wanted to go the Langtry Manor Hotel but on checking their disabled access you can only get through the front door but if you require the disabled toilet this is on the first floor with no lift! Not suitable if the guest only has one leg!!!! We were however very pleased that we decided to use the Elsted Hotel instead. They made the table up which Birthday Balloons and Birthday Confetti which I had purchased and were very happy for us to provide our own Birthday Cake. The menu is a Table d'hote but the choices were very adequate for our needs, especially as one guest was a Vegetarian. Nice food and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and I would personally like to thank the manager for making my Father's Celebration a success and wish them all the best for the coming season. Collapse
A bit run down but very clean and friendly

I was in Bournemouth for one night in February for business and wanted somewhere close to the office with a gym. The Elstead met those criteria and whilst it is somewhat dilapidated it is clean and well run with a friendly helpful team.

Positives: Nice quiet location, not far from the train station or too far from the town centre. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean room and very comfortable bed. Swimming pool and gym were useful facilities. Breakfast was OK, nothing special though, coffee was not great though! Negatives: As others have reported, the hotel really has seen better days, the décor and furniture is all very dated and looks pretty awful. As you walk in gives the feel of a lack lustre old peoples' home. You might be doing some business at the moment but the time must be here for the owner to invest in updating the hotel, I can't think that as you're older clientele die off you'll attract many guests with this state. I have used this hotel many times and it is now my base when working on the South coast. I find the staff very friendly and helpful and have always been made to feel welcome. It is located in a quiet street on the East side of the city. I stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and it is good value for the money. The dinner menu is varied and the breakfast is a buffet type, again with plenty of choice and good quality. Unlike some hotels in Bournemouth there is plenty of FREE parking and it’s well located for getting in and out of the town. There are also leisure facilities available free of charge to residents. The bedrooms are spacious and always clean. The television sets are on the small side but that is probably being a bit picky. I have already booked my next stay and will not be looking elsewhere if the standard stays the same. Collapse

All the staff we met could not have been more helpful and we met a few. It’s clean and comfortable and represents good value but the corridors creak, the floor of the lift flexes, our room had no cold water, the one next door (they let us use it whilst we waited) had no hot water, the bar had no real ale despite a banner outside proclaiming they did. They have a dark panelled lounge with heavy drapes, Swiss mountain scene pastiches straight out of the 1950s. Each of our quibbles were dealt with professionally and they have an excellent hot breakfast despite the absence of any sugar free cereal. Collapse
