If I can recommend one thing to anyone considering this hotel it is that you should absolutely pay for a room with the view of the acropolis. My girlfriend and I were able to lay in our bed and view the wonderful entirety of the acropolis. It was absolutely stunning. In addition to the beautiful views... the room, staff, and overall hotel is excellent. Great location. Good breakfast. A solid athens choice. Collapse

It holds five official stars and after my recent stay I can assure that it is an astonishing hotel and a great pick. Upon arrival the bell man on duty offered to assist us with our luggage but I asked to take it inside ourselves as it was only a small carry on. We stepped in to find ourselves in the glamorous and so elegant lobby that offers luxury touches that echo the essence of what you want as a traveler. It expertly bridges the past classic glamour with the present to unveil a magnificently crafted experience. There is a sense of place that entreats the senses, while the classy atmosphere and classic touch of luxury is decorated with attention to detail. The location could not be better and it is close to anywhere you need to be; within walking distance from most of the Athens main attractions, with Syntagma Square in less than 5 minutes’ walk, with the Parliament and shopping districts close by. We arrived a bit earlier and the luggage was kept until the room was ready, but we could enjoy a complimentary drink. (Beer, ouzo or soft drink.) Guests are given a card to present at time of their choice to any of the bars. A nice gesture indeed and we used ours the very last evening for some beers upon returning from our outing. In the meantime we are informed that we are upgraded to a Junior Suite and later on we are escorted to the suite by the same bell man whose name I miss right now, who indicated a few things we ought to know regarding the use of some amenities. The Junior Suite 136 overlooked the garden and meant to be our home for the time we were here. Spacious and colourful the interior matched well with the rest of the features of the suite. Wooden floor partly carpeted with the King sized bed dominating the bedroom and a sitting room with a comfortable sofa and working desk, a second LCD TV, and an elegant classic framed wall mirror. We enjoyed an absolute uninterrupted sleep due to the top quality plush mattress, the lux linens, but also the soundproof window and thick curtains that prevented light from coming in. Giving much attention to pillows as always, I can tell they were actually good. The suite had everything to assure a promising and comfortable stay including plenty of storage space, coffee/tea facilities, a fully packed mini bar, a safe and hairdryer, robes and slippers while iron facilities are upon request. I was amazed when I requested to be brought an iron upon our arrival and I had the set in the room in less than 5 minutes. A big thanks goes to Paola who was very helpful. The complimentary treat upon arrival, -a bottle of red wine and fruit was highly appreciated. The en suite marble-tiled bathroom was of average size and well lit with a deep soaking bathtub and plenty of hot water with satisfying pressure. Elegant and classic, it matched well with the rest of the interior décor, the feeling and style of the suite. A few more details really make the difference that you could spot yourselves if ever here. As for the complimentary set of toiletries, they were the popular “Korres’ brand for that extra pampering! There was nothing to fault and turndown service was great, however suites with view of the Acropolis do worth the extra cost. The place runs like clockwork. Staff is well trained to ensure clients are well served. A special mention goes to the Breakfast Restaurant which was great and had exceptional service, bearing in mind the hotel was fully booked and several turning up late, a little before it closed. I was honestly surprised and impressed. The Greek options included also traditional desserts that certainly added complexity to the operation. I came across foreign guests whom over a chat in the restaurant mentioned how they enjoyed this. Waiters did offer top notch service, they were friendly and discreet and ready to help. Being on just BB ourselves I cannot comment on the other restaurant this time. The rooftop, all-day Pool Bar located on the 5th floor is the perfect spot to soak up the Greek sun over refreshing drinks and snacks. There is a nice patio with deck chairs by the pool and the spot is way too popular with guests. Seeing this skyline oasis and its unobstructed view from much above, I was totally blown away! The little shady garden seems to be another peaceful oasis for guests to enjoy breakfast, have a drink or enjoy a Greek dinner. As for the Spa and wellness center it was indeed a lovely surprise. I felt totally spoilt the moment I climbed down the flight of stairs and entered the humble area of the spa with the small indoor pool. I was made welcomed by Marina and I had the “welcoming wooden tool massage” that anyone visiting the spa can enjoy. It was a matter of 3 or 4 minutes in reality but I did enjoy it. The pleasant fragrance in the air, the inviting ambience of the spa and seeing Marina talking with such passion about the popular Cretan Company O.Live and the different therapies, I was totally convinced to arrange a treatment. A combined package to fit my own needs is arranged before I leave the hotel that morning. I am back in the afternoon and this time I am welcomed by Tena who makes some recommendations and requests that I fill up a form with my medical history. Alexandra is appointed to be my therapist and shortly after I am escorted to the waiting lounge to enjoy a Cretan herbal tea prior to the treatment. During the session Alexandra answers queries I have and step by step explains the properties and benefits of the products and the package of treatments I am having. “Feet are washed” in my case sprayed, the exfoliation of body scrub to remove dead cells with benefits of Salt and high quality Oils to follow, a shower next, and a deep tissue body Cretan massage with a rich lotion of my choice for the end. Wow! The professional hands of Alexandra indeed managed to remove all tension. The Greek Herb Treatment goes back in time through the ancient techniques used to achieve rejuvenation and balancing of body and soul. Be sure to try both the Cretan and Greek Herb treatment. Just as excellent was my facial. Back at the Relax Lounge I am brought a bowl of hot water with drops of essential oils to inhale, while waiting for the next pampering gesture of a cool drink of natural pomegranate juice with detoxifying properties. The Spa encompasses the best of nature to give guests a unique wellbeing experience with fantastic products making you feel brilliant inside and out. The renowned brands used, guarantee a blissful experience, worth giving it a try. I loved every moment spent here not having to worry about work or the stresses of the daily routine and being helped into loosening up. A big thanks to all three ladies, with an extra credit to Tena. To sum up, the stay experience was remarkable and everything was perfect. For business clientele or not, for a relaxing spa getaway or a short stay in Athens, you can rest assured that nothing will let you down out here. Whatever the reason might be, make a booking and let the rest to the professionals. Collapse

This is a lovely hotel in the Planka neighborhood of Athens. The staff could not be more helpful. The hotel is very conveniently located within easy walking distance to the Acropolis and other sites as well as the numerous museums. The Jewish Museum of Greece is just around the corner and well worth a visit. Great shopping area and close to the both the Central and Flea markets. The breakfast buffet is extensive and varied. We had dinner at the Garden Restaurant. Good food, especially the lamb, and great views of the Acropolis. Collapse

The rooms are a little old fashioned. Only negative. The spa in the electra palace was absolutely phenomenal. After two days of travel as an abroad student (waiting to meet my mother), and full of exhaustion, I needed some tender, loving, care. The two women at the spa were so incredibly kind to me and did the most amazing full body massage. I can't believe for the life of me I am forgetting their names, I think one of them was named Anna? They wrote me a sweet postcard after and stayed to make sure that everything was satisfying. I loved the warm hospitality and kindness especially after spending so much time anxiously traveling alone. One of the best massages I have ever had, and their customer service was even better.
