Just got back from a weeks holiday at the el trebol. Overall we had a good time. The apartment was clean, large and modern. Shower was excellent. Food was very good with a wide selection. Sometimes the food was a bit cold though especially at breakfast. Location was good with only a short walk to the beach. Staff friendly and worked very hard. Have to say that we didn't stick around for the evening entertainment but the children seemed to enjoy it. Good value for money. Collapse

We are leaving today after one week. Came here with my grown up family. For an all inclusive costing £270 each. I was apprehensive as what to expect....However there are NO Negatives. Ok the reception is basic and bland but ALL the staff are very efficient, helpful and friendly. Our room was immaculately clean and had one of the best showers I have used in hotels. The pool area was always clean and welcoming with plenty of sunbeds always available. The restaurant was inviting and had the usual selection of food, a little basic but always enjoyable. Drinks were always flowing with NO queuing. The entertainment staff mainly 4 of them, worked their socks of day and night....however if your looking for top class entertainment the poor guys had no budget and had to improvise, Sometimes cheesy, but often funny and always managed to get everyone involved. Would recommend the market Square , band stand ( 4 mins in a taxi, €3 ), for some good evening entertainment, market and quality restaurants. Excursions...MHT, over sold but depends on yr taste we let's say....enjoyed the evening but would not rush to go back...The Catlanza 4 catamaran is worth a day out. Get the hotel to call them directly and mention you have been on one of their cruises before to gain a 20% discount. So overall we had a fantastic time and highly recommend the resort.......unless yr looking for top quality West end evening entertainment....Fantastic value for money.... Collapse
Excellent location and facilities

After a quick 15 min journey from the airport (private taxi), we arrived at the hotel. Don't be put off by the un-imposing reception area as once you're beyond that it gets much better. We'd asked for a room behind reception based on earlier reviews and that's what we were given. Rooms are basic but very spacious. The hotel has had a major refurbishment since being taken over by Thomson's and everything was clean and new with a kitchenette, lounge area with sofabed, seperate bedroom with large wardrobe but weirdly only one door which slides from one side of the wardrobe to the other? Super comfy beds - maybe because they're new. Each room has a huge balcony and most look over one of the pool areas. Rooms were spotless and very clean, but as I said before they are brand new at the moment. Cleaners were a bit sporadic and there were a couple of days where we didn't get one at all. In our first week we went 3 days with no change of towels but the hotel was having problems with power cuts at the time so perhaps it was all hands on deck. It was also very quiet with only the odd bit of noise from the room above who seemed keen on moving furniture around at odd hours for some reason! Despite what the brochure says, there is no kettle, however the cupboards are well stocked with crockery and pots and pans (no idea why you'd need all this on an all-inclusive!). We used a saucepan to boil water for hot drinks, or you can rent a kettle from reception at a cost of 1 Euro per day. You'll also have to pay a deposit for the tv remote - it will work without the remote but for some reason, without it, not all the channels are available and it switches itself off after a period of time. Wi-fi is available in the rooms and reception will give you a password, however it's pretty poor and we were lucky to get 10 minutes decent wi-fi at each log-on. There are 4 pools, including a children's pool with water jets and slides. The pools are absolutely freezing at this time of year though and the hotel really should consider some form of pool heating system. People were claiming their bodies had actually gone numb whilst swimming (I can't confirm this as I'm too much of a wuss to even dip a toe in!). Pool areas are all spotless and are cleaned daily. Sunbeds are plentiful and in the 14 days we were there we would always have been able to find a sunbed at any time of day. The food was really good. I saw some earlier reviews complaining about the food so didn't really know what to expect, however we were pleasantly surprised. I'm a really fussy eater and my hubby is a big meat lover. Each night there were at least 3 meat options, roasts, stews, curries etc. Fresh and stir fried vegetables, rice etc...pizza, chips, pasta was freshly cooked to order, soup, breads and a very good range of desserts as well as lots of different cheeses each night. On Sunday night they do roast dinners including yorkshire puddings - there's always a bit of a rush for these :) In the dining room as you go in, there are soft drinks machines in the mornings, and beer and wine on tap at dinner. On the other side of the dining room are the coffee machines. I really cannot see how anyone can complain about the food now...we couldn't really fault it. Location-wise - it's about a 5-10 walk to the beach from the back of the hotel (through the piano bar), immediately adjacent to the hotel is a square with large Spar shop (stocks everything!), bars, restaurants, shops and a hairdresser. Through the hotel bar, across the square and turn left and walk straight down to a larger shopping area which leads onto the lovely beach. There's a gorgeous promenade which goes on for miles and if you turn right here it takes you into the busier part of Costa Tequise, including the music square - a bandstand which often has live music acts, surrounded by restaurants and bars. The entertainment team, Sophie, Timmo and Claire are employed by Thomsons and are therefore new, only starting at the beginning of November. Timmo is a real favourite with the bigger kids and is an absolute star in the mini disco. Entertainment was low key but adequate with the usual quizzes, bingo and the odd outside act brought in. There's also a small 'adults only' bar which is a bit like a quaint English pub. Drinks are the usual, but included local branded malibu and baileys. All in all we had a great time and I would say this is a 3 star trying pretty hard to be a 4 star with some pretty good qualities and facilities and staff were very friendly throughout. If management read this, please fix the dreadful squeak on the bedroom door in room 232, I used a full bottle of suntan oil lubricating the hinges every night so that I wouldn't wake up the whole floor everytime I needed a trip to the loo lol, and on that note, please tighten up the toilet seat whilst you're there ;) Would we go back? Yes we would....location was very good with everything on your doorstep. Having said that the weather wasn't great and we had rain most days so didn't venture out too far very often, so if we went back to Costa Teguise I'd probably look at booking a hotel further along the coast just so that we'd get a different experience. If the price was right though, we would come back to the El Trebol. Collapse
good 3 star for price

Stayed here beginning of November for a week, when we started the holiday Thomas Cook were involved they finished and Thomson took over entertainment etc. The one bedroom apartment we had had recently been refurbished with the bathroom having a much safer walk in shower. All the rooms have a pool view, there is a tv in the room if you use it you will have to stand close as it is so small. Restaurant has been modernised food is quite good with a bit of choice drinks are okay. The pool area is clean and lots of sunbeds some people get out the beds as soon as they are unlocked the pool bar has snacks like hotdogs burgers but no cakes for tea or coffee. The staff were always friendly and sociable Collapse

Just arrived back from a cheeky CHEAP week away. Fearful of other reviews. However, for what we paid, shower hot and good pressure, rooms a good size, balcony large, bedding clean and there was always something to eat. We had room 312, sunny most of the day and good view through the complex, go for a third floor if you don't mind not having a lift. We have been to Lanzarote before but not this area, and for us its not somewhere we would return, not a lot of charm and felt a bit "kiss me quick". The hotel is more for families so if you are looking to have a romantic meal in the hotel its a no, no. Meal area a bit noisy, the snacks in the pool side building are worth much. Pools are cold. Hired bikes and headed down the coast which was great. On the whole not bad. Collapse
