We visited this hotel at the beginning of August as a family of 3. I had read up on here about the hotel so was aware that you can't wear sunglasses on the pool and that rooms aren't ready till 3 so I was prepared and brought our swimming outfits in our travel bag. Sorted!! We booked with Firstchoice on the All Inclusive option. When we arrived yeah your are queuing at check in for a while but that's expected when a coach load of you get off. When it is your turn they go through everything and answer any questions so you are there for about 20 minutes. I gave them my mobile number and they sent me a txt to let me know my room was ready. Rooms are basic but we didn't spend much time in there. The only issues we had a couple of times was the maids not replacing the towels that's just basics and when I tried to ask a maid we needed towels she acted like she couldn't understand us and appeared quite rude (although I couldn't understand what she was saying) Pool area is good there are plenty of deck chairs we never had a problem getting some but you have the ones that are out first thing sticking their towels down and not returning until after dinner. There does need to be more entertainment around the pool bit of music or something. There are two bars around the pool ones a self service both good. Food in the buffet area is alright there is a variety plenty to pick from, a lot of fresh fruit. Only a 5 minute walk to the Theme park which is really good and we went there in the evenings as we found the queues to be quicker. It's a 20 minute walk to Salou beach loads to do there. Overall good hotel, unless you have kids though this is not the hotel for you. Collapse
Good in parts.

We are a family of 4 - Grandparents, Mum and 7 year old Grandson. Probably the best way to do this is list positives and negatives. Positives. Great for the theme park and water park and if on all inclusive basis you get lunch vouchers to use in the parks. Saved us about 60 euros each visit. Please note that you need your room key to get into The park not your wrist band. First visit I had to walk back to the hotel as we had only taken 3 of the cards. On check in at 3:00 the staff were friendly and it took about 15 mins. Swimming pool is a good size with a large kids pool which my grandson loves. Plenty of sun loungers available even if you come down mid morning. Negatives Nothing major. Food is plentyful but of a typical all inclusive quality. Room is fairly basic and could do with an update. Drinks are a little limited compared to other AI hotel I have stayed at e.g. no cocktails. I would not put anyone off coming here but as commented by other people do not expect a 4 star. Access to the theme park is the main selling point. If you are not particularly interested in this I am sure that you fill find somewhere better for a similar price. Collapse
Great hotel, short walk to theme park and beach

Stayed here with my boyfriend this year in July, had a wonderful time. 15mins from the airport. Check in was 3pm but we were able to use the facilities while we waited. The staff on reception take your mobile number and you receive a text when the room is ready (But don't expect this to be until after 3pm - if you arrive early grab your swim wear and head to the pool while you wait) Lovely big swimming pool with extra bubble pool. 2 bars around the pool serving drinks/ ice creams etc. Hotel rooms slightly dated but very comfortable, our double bed was huge. Great air con! Powerful shower. Wifi worked well. Cleaners come everyday and leave clean towels when needed. Buffet restaurant was very good. I am gluten free and had no problems. If you let the waitress know any allergies they will bring a manager (even sometimes the chef) over and there were always a selection of options cooked fresh and delivered to your table. The buffet food itself changed daily, always fresh, lots of options. You also have the fast food/ sandwiches around the pool. Portaventura World is a very short walk away. Great themepark, lots to see and do. Open until late. Some really good shows/ fireworks in the evening/ rides to suit all ages. We were also able to use vouchers from the hotel for meals in the park which was added bonus. The new Ferrari World opened this year right next door was worth paying the extra for a one day pass in there. Salou beach is around a 15/20 min walk from the hotel. Lovely beach and fountain show in the evening. Lots of restaurants/bars/shops in that area. Entertainment in the hotel wasn't the best, mostly a kids disco and some singers/dancers, not a problem as you have the theme park so close. We spent most evenings watching shows in Portaventura. We would definitely stay here again. Collapse

We stayed in El paso from the 30th June for 1 week, 2 adults, 2 kids. We had a fantastic time. The rooms and pool area was very clean and never had an issue getting sunbeds. The food was good, can be a bit repetitive but we still enjoyed it. Ate in El coyote one night and it was gorgeous, also the food vouchers for the theme park were brilliant if we wanted to eat there. My boys loved the snacks from the snack bar and one of the ladies who worked there taught them a new Spanish word every time she served them. I loved the slush puppies at the other bar, especially with a drop of malibu in them. The access to the theme park is brilliant and we went up every evening and got on everything numerous times. Our room was a good size for the 4 of us and the maids were brill always folded pj's nicely on our beds. All in all we had a fantastic time and I would definitely return to El paso, the benefits of the all inclusive, the food vouchers and the theme park make it well worth the money. Don't worry about the negative reviews, make your own mind up. Oh and regards to the roots in the pool, as long as it's swimming tops and hats you are fine. Yes no balls allowed but we improvised with other items and played with water weights. Loved it Collapse

On arrival we waited two hours to be given our room, rooms are very dated and a little unclean, cleaners forgot to leave clean towels in the room for three days in a row, despite going to reception and telling them still no towels were given to us. No mini bar in the room and for an all inclusive hotel would usually expect this. Especially as there is no drinks from 23:30 till 10am, not even the water machines were turned on on a night. There was no activities for children and no clubs all there was was a 30 minute mini disco on the night. There was a lot more Spanish guests in the hotel than there was English and they seemed to be prioritised by the staff. Staff were very rude in the main restaurant especially on our last day, we arrived for breakfast at 8:30am and waited in a que to get in which took around 15-20 minutes we then got told to follow a lady to our table along with groups of other people. She forgot about us as she was showing others so we decided to sit on a table of our choice which we then got a telling off off another member of staff. Food is very basic and the same things are on every day. Best thing I could say about the holiday is the pool, my children were never out of it and loved playing on the little ship and of course the theme park which was included in the price. Being with most the family made it a great holiday but Would not stay here again. Collapse
