Enjoyed every minute of our holiday to this hotel. We had a pool facing room on the 2nd floor. There is absolutely no reason why this hotel shouldn't be 4 star if they put air conditioning in all of the rooms. Which I think needs to happen because the ceiling fans are pretty useless and that's my only complaint. The food was excellent and always hot. Lots of choice, was very happy with the sirloin steak one night. My 5 year old loved it and made some great friends. The rooms are very big with a full kitchen if you need it. I think the bad reviews come from those who stop there because it's quite an upmarket area of the resort hoping for the same standard's of the neighbouring 5 star hotels for a quarter of the price. Would definitely recommend. Collapse

After reading the reviews on this hotel I was a little weary of what to expect...on arrival it was very nice...clean tidy...however not all the rooms have air con..we did however and I think my and my daughter were lucky on the room we had. Found out that rooms without air con guests were uncomfortable at night with only a fan to keep cool but as you know it would only circulate warm air. Cannot reserve sunbeds and sunbeds are unlocked at 10am and you have to be out of the pool area at 6-6.30pm. There was a life guard at all times the pool was open which is very good. The food varies in restaurant but could always find something that we liked. If you go all inclusive there is NO snack bar the pool bar does do food at lunchtime but follows the times that the restaurant is open for lunch. There is entertainment every night however no kids entertainment on Sunday nights, this is outside and as we went in October it can be a bit chilly in evening, but I feel the cold anyway so this may not be a problem for many. I’m not saying you need to take a coat!! but a light weight hooded top or cardigan. Overall we had a lovely holiday but if I was being honest I would not go back to this hotel. Purely because we cannot be guaranteed a room with air con which is important to me. Food choice and would rather go back to previous visited hotels in Tenerife. I’m hoping you have found this useful. If you have booked this hotel do not let reviews put you off, as said we enjoyed our stay had a lovely holiday but I NEED guaranteed air con. Collapse

We have just returned from two weeks at the Aparthotel El Duque. After reading some negative reviews we were somewhat apprehensive however we needn’t have worried. We travelled as a group of nine with four kids. We all had a ball! Reception staff were friendly and always willing to help. The apartments were spotless and we loved spending an evening on our extremely large balcony. The pools were immaculate and we never had an issue getting a sunlounger. The bar staff were amazing as was the animation lady who worked tirelessly. The food was good with a huge variety and plenty of fresh fruit. All in all we had a fantastic time and would return in a minute. Collapse

Its a great place to stay good night life and a good selection at meal time, rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels rooms come with a kitchen, fridge, microwave and kettle also a safe inside the room which they charge extra The view from my balcony was a bit of an eye sore due to building work being done but this only effects one side of the hotel hopefully it will be completed next year and also theres no aircon in the room just a noisy ceiling fan but i would stay here again Collapse

We have recently returned from a 2 week family holiday, mum and dad and children of 16 and 18.This is our report from a family of 4. We booked this holiday in the 3rd week of January this year, we already knew about the building work before we had left, which was emailed to us a few weeks before we left as we had an email from Thomson, regarding the shopping complex immediately in front of the hotel,to say the building work had stopped. Yes it had been stopped, but unfortunately we were allocated rooms overlooking this horrendous, filthy dirty derelict mess. It made the room feel very dark and dank. We were incredibly disappointed with our room allocation, when we had paid over £4500.00 for a family holiday. The hotel receptionist didn't appear concerned about our complaint and said the rooms allocated to us were in line with our booking. If the Thomson/First Choice Staff in store were more aware of the resort information this situation could have been avoided completely. We asked to speak to a Thomson rep or hotel manager to be told this was not possible, so we had no choice but to stay in these rooms for the first night. The next morning we awoke to find notes under our door to contact reception immediately when were offered better rooms but at an extra un-budgetted cost of 260 Euros which we had no choice but to pay otherwise we would have had to have stayed in the terrible rooms initially allocated. Our replacement rooms were of a much better standard with pool views. We requested aircon but ended up with ceiling fans which in one of the rooms was very rickety and looked like it would fall of at any time. Our biggest issue over the all inclusive was from what we learnt before our arrival from trip advisor was that your wristbands were removed at 12.00 midday on the day of departure, yet we were not advised this by the travel agent who claimed this was stipulated in the small print of the T&C's we signed at the time of booking. Animation Team... or lack of, a real hit or miss affair which was such a shame as we all love taking part in the water sports and other activities that are usually on offer in hotels across the world. The few times we did see people walking past was done in a very half hearted manner. Evening entertainment promised lots via the notice board outside reception but unfortunately it failed to deliver with most nights just 35 to 40 minutes long of very amateurish, most night’s guest got up and walked away from it. On our walks around the resort at night we noticed most other hotels had a much higher standard of entertainment. On a more positive note we must say the bar staff were excellent and 2 in particular who got to know us very quickly and were very efficient. The pools were excellent and the hotel and grounds were always clean and tidy. The restaurant was always kept clean and tidy and there was a good choice of food, apart from at lunch time which became a bit repetitive. Cooks/waiters/waitresses were always polite and friendly. We didn’t book any trips with Thomson as we found a better choice by shopping around with local companies. The trip we did around the Island which included Masca and the National Park was just amazing. Plus a must is a boat trip out to sea the whales and dolphins. Along with the trip to Siam Park and Loro Park Overall a great 2 weeks and we were pleasantly surprised at the diversity of the landscape of the whole isalnd Collapse
