The Edward Hotel is a grade 2 listed conversion of three terraced town houses. The hotel offers a blend of personality and professionalism, a distinct mix of quality and value for money. The emphasis is upon accommodation rather than fine dining and also upon peace and quiet. The location, out of earshot of the city clubs and pubs, is another bonus.
There are 25 smart ensuite bedrooms with High Definition TV, with 140 digital satellite TV/radio channels, and free WiFi. The Lounge retains the Victorian open fireplace and parquet flooring. Chilly winter nights can be kept at bay by the crackle and wood smoke from the log fire. The lounge closes with the bar around 11pm. The hotel dining room gallery has a theme. The pictures rattle the brain cells of many sleepy breakfast goers. Help is at hand with the cryptic and other clues on dining tables. For those that crack the theme another more challenging brain teaser awaits, which has been solved without aid, only twice.
The Edward Hotel also has a mature secluded garden and provides an ideal background for photos. There is a surprising amount of birdlife. Watch out for the sparrow hawks that nest at the hospital. In the summer you can take breakfast on the patio.

This is a standard three star hotel that is value for money and offers helpful service. Easy access to the Cathedral and other sites. Within walking distance of the Rugby ground. Lots of trades and business people use this site.

I stayed here recently in a single room. The location was perfect - it was close to the train station and the city centre without being right in the city centre, so it was away from the noise of the city centre. It was only about a 10 minute walk to the train station, and about a 5 minute walk to where the city centre shops and restaurants start. The routes to the train station and city centre are very easy and straightforward. You definitely won't get lost! If you don't want to walk into the city centre for your evening meal, there is a pub right by the Edward Hotel which sells food, and just down the road there are a few take aways, as well as a Thai restaurant. There is a Tesco Express just down the road from the hotel, which has a 24/7 cashpoint. If you want, you can buy food from here to prepare a meal yourself in the kitchenette at the hotel. Parking is available at the hotel if you're travelling by car. It's quite a large hotel, with 28 rooms altogether. There are a maze of corridors, but it is very well signposted to the rooms, and also to the reception, bar and car park, so you can easily find your way around. My single room was nice and comfortable. I found it to be a nice size. Small of course, as you would expect for a single room, but I certainly didn't feel it was too small. There was a small built in wardrobe in the room, and lots of drawers. There were a good number of sockets available to plug in your various appliances. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate making facilities were in the room, including biscuits. There was a tv available, with freesat. Free wifi was also available - the code for the wifi is on the reception desk. The bedroom was en suite, and included a small bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Towels, shower gel, soap and shampoo were provided. I must admit, I couldn't get the shower to work, but I'm sure someone would have come up had I called reception. As I was only staying for one night though, I decided to leave it and have a wash in the sink instead. A desk and chair were provided, which was handy to use my laptop, and another chair was provided which was more suitable for relaxing than the chair provided with the desk, which had a straighter back for using the desk. The other chair was very comfortable, and I felt very relaxed sat on it with my book. The single bed was comfortable, and I slept well in it. The room faced the parking ground, so it was nice and quiet as it didn't face the main road. I wasn't disturbed by any noise at all during the night, not even by other guests. Being on the top floor in room 26 helped as it meant far less people going up and down the stairs and along the corridors as the only people that would have been up there were those in the two rooms by me, and I didn't even hear them, although perhaps they were empty. For breakfast, there was a selection of cereals and juices, as well as toast and a cooked breakfast. There was a choice of fried, scrambled and poached eggs. It was very tasty, but black pudding and hash browns would also have been nice. This is a very minor thing though. The hotel reception area had a good number of leaflets advertising attractions in the area, which was very helpful. After checking out, I still had hours until my train home, and asked if I could leave my case with them until it was time for me to go and catch my train, to which they kindly agreed. The one little niggle I have is the fact that the cleaning lady knocked on my door at 10.30am to ask when I would be checking out as she wanted to clean my room. It was a Saturday, and according to the hotel's website, check out is 11am on weekends, so I wasn't pleased to be disturbed. She should have checked first to see who had and who hadn't checked out, and left those of us who hadn't yet checked out alone. Collapse
