We changed our reservation via a 3rd party company at the last minute and of course it got messed up. Ashley at check-in not only resolved the problem, but gave us a better rate on the remodeled floor. I am not sure about the comments concerning no food or drink....one has more nice and varied places to eat and drink within 2 blocks in any direction. Staff is friendly and they make sure only guests access the elevators. It is busy in the lobby, but so is Times Square ! This was our second visit but not our last. If you want to stay in your room all day and night and never leave the hotel, perhaps you will prefer someplace else--but then why are you in NYC? Collapse
Location and staff - other than that every thing about the hotel was a terrible.

It was an experience I would not want to repeat. I was on a private visit to New York with a friend that is not very mobile and chose the hotel for the proximity to everything. And it was, they could not change the location. After that every thing was unacceptable for the cost. Let me note I have traveled the world and many hotels as a private traveler and a hotel consultant for a travel company and this is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. On talking to the management they informed me it was a four star hotel well is a three star hotel and should be lower and I will attempt to do everything in my power to bring that down as I do not want anyone else to have an experience like mine. Also the cost of the rooms even taking in locations are excessive for the type of hotel it is. There is not room service or any type of restaurant or even a coffee pot in your room. these things are very difficult for someone with health problems. Also two of the elevators were out of commission because of the renovations that are still not noted on the web site and that I knew nothing about and was not told about before coming to the hotel.. People that book way ahead should be informed of this so that they can make arrangements ahead of time. I booked a full service hotel and instead was in a Motel that I even had to go down the corridor to get ice. So disappointed and all I heard in the lobby was complaints about the heat in the rooms. No air conditioning. Guess that was under renovations also! Please check this hotel out before booking. Also sent a note to Expedia, booking.com and all the other booking agencies in this country and around the world. Collapse

Reception staff very helpful and all staff welcoming and friendly. I was offered an upgrade on the 11th floor free of charge, the room was spacious and well maintained. I arrived to find balloons and a teddy in my room as a gift from the Hotel as I was celebrating a Special Birthday. I travelled with my son and his family and they were allocated a room on the 12th floor, again the room was spacious with two queen beds and the room well maintained. The Hotel is well situated just off Times Square and within walking distance off most of the main visitors attractions . We were provided with tea/coffee facilities and a small fridge on request at no extra charge. New York blew us away and when we return Edison will be our choice of Hotel. Collapse

The hotel couldn't have been better located for our short trip to New York City. It's a lovely hotel, with comfortable rooms, but the top drawing card is its location. It is literally right across the street from the Richard Rogers Theatre where Hamilton is playing. Any show we were interested in attending was a five minute walk or less from the Hotel Edison. There is no longer a restaurant at the hotel, but there are fabulous restaurants surrounding it. If you want a cheap lunch, there are a plethora of great pizza joints nearby. The concierge was rarely at the desk, and not helpful when she was there. The bellman were great with advice, though, and had wonderful New York accents to boot! You have to pay for internet access, and we did for a day. You can access and print boarding passes for free at the business center. Collapse

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Its location Is excellent and safe. Staff really nice. room spotless . Very helpful in general.# The other side we were not informed that the restaurant was closed at time of booking . This was inconvenient because we had two pensioners and a teenager with us and it would have helped to just settle in at the end of the day instead of looking for alternative eateries. The bar does not belong to the hotel and was rented out one night for a private function and the doorman was rude when we tried to enter. Again its nice to have a nightcap in the building and young and old can go to bed in the same building without worry. My sister only complained by email when she returned home and the hotel said we should have mentioned our concerns while we were there. So good and bad. Collapse
