Recently stayed 3 nights & was greatly impressed by their renovations. Still the best location(1/2 block from TIXS booth-Times Square) & best rates. Helpful staff & clean rooms. Can't wait to go back !

We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Edison. The location is fabulous, particularly if you have tickets for a Broadway play. Many of the theaters are just a short walk away. Also, there are several good restaurants nearby. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is very nice and helpful. The beds are great---- very comfortable. Although the bathrooms are smaller than what you find in newer hotels, they are clean. The shower has great water pressure and we never ran out of warm water. Unfortunately, the wait time for the elevators is longer than desired; however, they are currently working on the elevators, and that problem may soon be remedied. If the elevators had been a bit more efficient, I would have given our stay a rating of 5 rather than 4. I definitely would stay here again if I were traveling to NYC. Collapse

We just finished up a weekend trip and stayed at Hotel Edison and it was great! We stayed in rooms 417 and 421. The views were great, it was clean & spacious. The staff were really nice and they gave my daughter a teddy bear. On Friday they had live music and snacks in the lobby. Also it is literally around the corner from Times Square. Danny's gourmet is next door and food is good & reasonable there! I recommend it and would go back! Collapse

This is my second stay at Hotel Edison. There have been changes since my last visit. Some of the rooms have been updated and are marketed as "Signature Rooms". I was able to get a very good rate through Expedia for our stay in NYC. I had reserved a room with a terrace. And upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite. To be able to be given access to the terrace we had to sign a waiver stating we would not cook or set off fireworks from the terrace. I can see that could be a problem around New Years as this hotel is very near Times Square. We were shown to our room on the 17th floor. The rooms are a great improvement on the rooms of the past. The old rooms were of course clean and comfy, but the new rooms are more up to date. Nice large closets, where the light comes on when you reach inside. The drawers for clothes and a safe are all inside the closet, which makes everything nice and neat. Our suite was included one room for the bed and another for a sofa (which I think may make into a bed). Both rooms have big screen TVs. The room with the sofa has the entry to the terrace (which security must unlock for you) a bathroom and the coffeemaker. The staff was wonderful. Always cheery (for the most part) always making sure we show our key card before we gain access to the elevators and always helpful. On my last stay folks were not allowed in the sitting area with their luggage, a practice I found to be odd since most people sitting there are waiting for transport to the airport. Now it is used for as a place for folks to sit while waiting for their transport, or a walking tour. As stated the room was very nice and updated, but the bathroom is a tight squeeze. My husband is 6 ft and a nice size man. It was just big enough to get around in. Of course one can not expect a spa in a vintage hotel, but I believe using a bit of room from the sitting area would have been better used to make a bigger bathroom. Just be prepared. I miss that there is no longer a place attached to the hotel for eating, but the Rum House a delight for night time entertainment. Stay here if you are going to the shows, it is a great location for that, catching a Hop and Stop or just hanging out in Times Square. Collapse
