First time in NYC so wanted to stay somewhere central. This hotel was perfect. We walked our legs off but still made use of the subway and Bus Tours Uptown and Downtown. Don't use the Big Bus Tour will review separately. Was a bit concerned because of the negative reviews so booked a Signature Room for 6 nights. We were allocated a room on the 21st floor so had no problems with the lift but could see this being an issue if you had a room on a low floor. There were always people waiting as the lift doors shut on them and we continued to descend. The room was clean but the drain in the shower so slow to drain. Beds comfy and it met our needs. We also had problems with the wifi but after we rang some guy (not the reception) and gave the IP addresses of various devices we never had any problems gaining access. My husband works in the industry which probably helps. We had views of the North end of Times Square from our room. An added bonus was the Rum House on the Ground Floor which we frequented on several nights. Great music and atmosphere and when you can't walk another step is work getting into the lift for..... At this hotel all in all you are paying for the location, which is amazing, well expect it to be a bit noisy at time but thats what you choose when you choose time square For the reception its a bit old fashion which is fine, however room need a refurbishment as well as carpet and life which can take ages to come when its busy as you never know how many will work from the 6 elevator maybe 2 maybe 3 but npt the full 6 elevator.... room has a closet which is no nice to put the luggage... cleaning wasnt at his best at all, we had a rude guy at the reception who told my baby not to play around, well maybe a 14 years old which start walking wont understand much For the check out ive checked to do a late check out at around 8pm and was ready to pay but it was actually 30% higher than the price i paid per night over my 10 days stay All in all not an amazing hotel which need a good refurbishment but a great location so you pay for it Collapse

We stayed at the Hotel Edison for one night as a surprise Sweet 16 trip for my niece. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Youssef at the front desk was amazing. We were upgraded to a room with a terrace and they even surprised my niece with a gift bag full of fun treats. The room was clean and had an amazing view. The location is perfect. Right in Times Square. I'm highly recommend this hotel and I will book with them the next time I visit. Collapse

Spent 3 nights here last week and was pleasantly surprised. The room we stayed in was not the most attractive, overlooked a side road with an empty theatre but at least there was not noise to disturb us. The staff were super helpful and friendly, Jonathon on security is a credit to the hotel. The only downside was no dining room to have breakfast but we did get a coffee machine with plenty of coffee and tea pods to use throughout our stay, at no extra cost. I would recommend Danny's next door for breakfast and sandwiches etc. You can eat upstairs if you don't want to take back to your room and avoid the lingering smells. Great fresh fruit selection with porridge and salad bar. Did not try the chinese buffet so cant comment on that. All in all the hotel met our needs, and to be honest all you need is a room to sleep in when in New York, and our beds were very comfy with nice clean crisp linen. Would definitely go back and hopefully the rooms will have been updated. No noise from workmen in our room so perhaps we were very fortunate. Collapse

The first room we were in had such a strong smell of bleach that we wondered what could have necessitated all that bleach. The tub was peeling and the grout was black. But since it was only a one night stay, we decided to overlook all that, UNTIL.....it was time to take a shower and the water would not warm up. We requested a room change and got it, no more bleach smell. This time the room smelled like feet. SERIOUSLY! So the next person decides to shower, and once again, no hot water but seriously brown cold water flowed out of the tap. DISGUSTING. Apparently, there was a failure of the boiler that was being rectified, and they did credit me $100 for the inconvenience. They should have refunded the entire thing. The elevators were being repaired so very few were working. We ended up taking the stairs one time. It was just miserable. Never again! Collapse
