Stayed 5 nights in mid Oct for 25th anniv and wife's bday... rm#520... room included small (but useful) balcony overlooking lake. The staff all spoke English very well and were SUPER helpful in recommendations for things to do as well as restaurants. HUGE kudos to Mahmoud, Guillaume, Lora, and Silvia for being so friendly and helpful. Walk from train station was 10 minutes tops, but try to use elevator if you are dragging yer luggage, as the stairwells are pretty steep. The stay included (pleasant surprise to us) a travel pass that was extremely useful... free bus/train around town and all the way to Vevey and the wine areas beyond that. This pass also gave us fantastic discounts to local/alpine attractions such as Chillon Castle, Rochers-de-Naye, Maison Cailler, and Vinorama. Room was always clean and shower was perfect (strong, hot water with no drainage issues at all)... bed/sheets were very comfortable... TV was newer LG LCD and was fine despite only about 12 English channels... WiFi was free and perfect... was able to check gMail and use all iPhone apps and visit all sites as if I were in states with no issues. Room also included a small user-programmed safe - perfect for storing passports and swiss cash. BTW - Discover card was accepted at train station (both Montreux and Geneva), but nowhere else... I mean nowhere. Breakfast was included in our stay, however it was only fair... buffet style was good (nice selection) but scrambled eggs were watery and sometimes cold. However, it was convenient and worth it as the breads and pastries were always fresh. Downstairs bar was nice and friendly (thx much to Christoph, who was very nice/helpful). Casino was a fun night-capper... 5 minute walk from hotel. Restaurants we dined: Le Museum (absolutely unbelievable fondue and steak), Caveau des Vignerons (great fondue), Palais Bonheur (Asian food above casino), and Restaurant Dolce (Italian)... all great dining experiences! Would highly recommend this hotel - the walk to Chillon Castle via the lake-front walkway was something to behold! Collapse

Beautiful rich expensive hotel. Staff spoke English. We splurged to stay here with a view right on Lake Geneva. Well worth it. We had fantastic weather, wine on our balcony in the sunny afternoon and from our balcony watched the boats and people on the promenade. It was a lovey break in our 2 month vacation. Lots of restaurants around and walking is easy everywhere. From the train station there are two areas of stairs down to the water level (and to this hotel) and each set of stairs has either an elevator or an escalator beside it - great for hauling luggage. The hotel provided us with a pass that gave us discounts, and free public transportation! The comfortable hotel room #408 (very simple) has everything you would expect (except a coffee machine). Shower was full and strong. Even had gold-coloured taps. Along the street parallel to the water just one block from the hotel there are a lot of variety in restaurants and some a bit cheaper than on the promenade. We can not comment on the hotel’s restaurant as we did not eat there. Always seemed closed every time we looked. Not sure why: weekend or late September might have been the problem. There is an outdoor pool but it was closed during our visit as the weather was too cold (although the room was too hot) We recommend this hotel (even the cheaper simple rooms) for the location and view. Tips: Cafe du Globe Restaurant is just up from the hotel - good food, small-town feel, simple & cozy. Molino Restaurant (patio on the busy loud promenade) is just down the road has good food. We shared a large pizza for lunch. Craft beer is available at: L’ilot on the water and the Safran Restaurant (great food) - both west of Freddie on the promenade. We walked the 1 hour to the castle and back to this hotel for a visit. Spent 1 1/2 hours looking around the castle on our own and reading the pamphlet. Freddie’s statue is just down the road from the hotel and the Casino, with the casino, restaurants and the Queen experience, is just next door. Cons: ***Air conditioner did not work and was badly needed during our stay (the room was very hot even with the balcony door open)*** (No coffee machine in the room which is certain a bonus) Internet was spotty at times. Since logging-in had to be renewed each day, the video I tried to upload overnight did not go through as the computer lost connection. It would be nice if the connection we are given lasts our entire stay without needed to be refreshed daily - like most hotels we have been to. Rated this hotel lower on 'Service' due to broken air conditioning and spotty Internet. Collapse

I stayed here for 3 nights for a special occasion. The staff were very helpful and friendly. All my requests were granted with a smile and seemingly no effort. The room was amazing. I had the most magical lake and mountain views. A cute little balcony was the perfect place to enjoy my morning cup of tea and take in the glory that is Montreux. The room was spacious and well equipped. I did have a junior suite, though. A minibar fridge was a luxury not found in many other European hotels. No, the hotel is not brand new, but it has character and I loved every moment of my time there. Collapse
