It provides one of the best breakfasts in any hotel anywhere (if only the lady who cooks the eggs would smile now and again). The only problem is the seaview lounge is far too hot and unlike the rest of the hotel appears to have no air conditioning. Collapse

We had a four night stay at this hotel and it was great. Our room had a spacious balcony which overlooked the pool, marina and surrounding mountains which were breathtaking. The room was a good size and the bathroom had two sinks!!! It also had a kettle which I've never seen in Spain before and a working fridge to keep water and more importantly bottles of wine which we drank in the evenings on the balcony. Perfect. The hotel itself has recently been renovated and although I've never been here before I could tell they'd done an excellent job. We stayed on a bed and breakfast rate so I can't comment on lunch and dinner but the breakfast was very good and varied. You will never starve, there are restaurants all along the sea front. We ate out every night and never had a bad meal. You must try the sangria. There was entertainment most nights outside by the pool which we enjoyed. I'd recommend going on the tram to the small town of Soller, the scenery is beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only reason for not giving it a score of excellent is only due to the sunbed situation. It didn't bother me but my husband likes to sunbathe for a couple of hours in the morning but unless you get up at seven o'clock in the morning you won't find a spare sun bed. Collapse
Fantastic location: be prepared for sunbed issues!

However availability of sunbeds was poor - even though there are signs up to say do not reserve the management do nothing to stop it and by 800am all the beds are taken (not enough for the size of the hotel). If you are an early riser this will be perfect - not my idea of a holiday though. The rating is adjusted for this reason. Collapse

Zero hospitality Zero sunbeds Zero culinary enjoyment Zero clean loos Zero idea how to run a 4-star hotel Zero chance of anyone sane enjoying their trip here We booked Hotel Eden for a precious, long-awaited two nights away from our children. Port de Soller is a fantastic place to mooch about between restaurants and this hotel is excellently located. That is where the positive review ends. Our basic double room was OK; clean, new, basic - a bit like a souped-up Travelodge - but perfectly acceptable for a place to crash at the end of the day by the pool and night in town. Unfortunately the aircon did not work and it was hotter than hell in our room. We immediately complained and were shown another room, but the other room was tiny. It had a queen size bed in it, pushed up against the wall with one bedside table, one glass, one water bottle, a view of a brick wall... it was clearly a room for single occupancy. Not acceptable for our romantic nights away. Nor for the price of £144 per night. We refused the room, but were told there were no other options. So we returned to the original choice of room with a broken AC and I asked for a fan to cool it down. It didn't. Cue more calls to reception and more staff jabbing at an AC that couldn't be fixed and attempts to tell us that ‘in Spain, this heat is perfectly fine’. GREAT way to spend a day. At midnight, with no chance of sleeping in the airless furnace and no other rooms available, we had no option but to take the single-occupancy room on the promise that they would find us a better room in the morning. It was like camping. Loud pipe noises all night, right next to the lift, tiny bed, shower that flooded the room. We were not paying for this experience and insisted on a refund for that night in the morning. This was unacceptable to the rude, unapologetic woman at reception. 'you wanted to switch rooms', was her response. 'You only booked a basic room' she said before conceding that our final room was very small and the only one of that nature on the floor. They wanted to compensate us with an upgraded room for our second night. But we felt strongly that we shouldn’t pay for last night’s debacle. We didn’t want an upgrade, we just wanted the room we had paid for with a working AC. We asked for the manager. She was busy. I said for her to find us at the pool. They told us that the manager would not come out to the pool to find us. The manager wasn't available - 'busy, in meetings' - for the 24 hours that we asked to see her. Essentially what happened over the next few hours after us continually traipsing to reception to check on the status of our room, was that we were chucked out. They said there were no other rooms available except the single room. We showed them the available rooms on Booking.com, they said they were not available for us. They acted like school mistresses from the 50s. Paying guests asking for a working AC in a double room were an annoyance. Thankfully we got a full refund and put two nights accommodation at this dive into one night’s accommodation at THE AMAZING HOTEL ESPLENDIDO down the road where we were reunited with comfort, hospitality, sunbeds, great food and wine. Our trip had a happy ending but it was touch and go for a while there... Collapse
