So this place is not for everyone but is better for those that prefer to not to be part of a huge complex in the middle of tat-town. It has three outdoor pools which were empty apart from the more temperature-resilient children - ours included. It has a great spa and gym which was packed with the athletic cyclists for which this location is particularly great. We did self catering which was easy with a bread/milk supermarket a couple of minutes away and a ten minute walk to the major one. The room had standard self-catering stuff with a small microwave/oven and double hob. We did use the evening buffet a couple of times which wasn't great nor cheap - there were loads of better options by the beach for those with less tired children! Entertainment was mixed with great singers and the bingo was enjoyed by those entering as was the film quiz. As a base for exploring by car (rented from here who matched their internet rate in the shop: Rent a car Formentor Passeig Saralegui, 106, 07470 Pollença, Illes Balears, Spain) it was a great location with the mountainous west coast or beachy north and east. The town is lovely and never bettered when visiting elsewhere. So for those who want a more chilled area close to the town/beach but not in the middle of it then its ideal. If you rarely leave the hotel pool area then you may benefit from being more in the thick of it. Collapse
Great place but be careful on pricing

It has taken me a long time to write this review as had mixed feelings about our holiday and wanted to resolve some issues regarding the cost before I wrote it. Lovely friendly hotel about 20 mins walk from the beach, although there was a free shuttle bus available from Monday to Friday. We got a free upgrade to a premium apartment when we arrived and always found reception staff very obliging and efficient. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable but did not look like the picture on the website. Clearly there must have been some better ones with white furniture. Pools were good with plenty of sun beds and parasols available, but it was September. There was a free spa and indoor pool but we did not use it. It looked impressive and you could pay extra for massages. We had a self catering apartment but could have meals in the restaurant on a pay as you go basis. They were buffet style and not as good quality and variety as many we've been to. Better labelling of food, especially meat, would have been helpful. Snacks were quite limited too. This is where the problem lay. We initially booked for room and breakfast using booking.com. On arrival reception staff explained we could have any meal at the restaurant. It was lunchtime then and we were hungry so we asked how we could pay for that meal. We were told we could pay in the restaurant or at reception. Hence we paid in the restaurant for this meal plus all subsequent meals that we wanted including breakfasts as we ate them. On checking out, we carelessly paid for the breakfasts all over again. We noticed this within a couple of hours and went to reception to have our money reimbursed for having paid for the breakfasts twice. We were referred to the manager who was not sympathetic to our situation. After much discussion, he agreed to give us meals for free for the remainder of our stay but this did not cover the extra cost. We accepted this as better than nothing and took up the problem with booking.com. Again the Duva management would not budge on this, although booking.com were very helpful and eventually compensated us with half of the money we believed we were owed. Clearly this did spoil the last part of our holiday. Kitchens were well equipped with a large fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher etc. Bar staff were good humoured and worked hard. We managed to drink all the German bottled beer quite quickly and were told there would not be anymore. (It reappeared after a couple of days but surprisingly we didn't complain!) Entertainment was a bit limited but ok, mainly minidisco, bingo and quizzes with some professional acts. The young couple who sang to a variety of songs with talented keyboard playing and improvisations were brilliant. They called themselves Disaster Duo so clearly need some better marketing. Collapse
Nice place to stay

I must say we had a great stay from arrival to end, we were situated on the other side of the road from the main reception and it was fab . During the day we had pool to ourselves we were in room 3011 and it had everything you need was very spacious and have no complaints we were AI and it was very good. Night entertainment was very acceptable and they bring in singers from outside which was good, its a15 minute walk in to to the main beach and its a straight walk, 5 mins away there are a couple of pubs and mini market and a further 5 away is a big Svorski supermarket. The staff at the hotel are a credit to the hotel and we even had an issue with leaving our home keys in our room and we contracted them and they sent them back home to us WELL DONE TO YOU ALL. This was first time we have stayed for 3 weeks on holiday so we choose Puerto Pollenca, Majorca as it's one of our favourite places and hadn't been for some time. Due to limited choice on Villas we choose The Duva apartments. 4 star premium. Not quite as described. Dated furnishings, dark woodwork and doors. Small TV for size of room. Although towels were changed regularly the cleaning was hit and miss. The bathroom was often smelly, and I don't think the bath was ever cleaned (I wore flip flops to shower) also the balcony was hardly touched. The pool areas were never cleaned and tidied. On a positive note the location was great for walking and biking and staff friendly. Collapse
