We don't usually pay £290 for a 2 night stay and so we were disappointed to find we were expected to pay to park our car and found breakfast at £16 per person a tad exorbitant! The room was fine, comfortable bed and large flat screen tv. Bathroom a little cramped and dated but adequate and clean. All in all, a reasonable experience but we have stayed at better hotels for far less money - with breakfast and car parking thrown in!! Collapse

I’ll start with the plus’s , lovely welcoming glass of wine & homemade cakes on arrival , complimentary .. very nice touch , the bar in the hotel nice too & the breakfast was lovely .The location was fabulous , my only complaint was that I would have preferred to have actually stayed in this beautiful hotel but unfortunately we were in a building outside of the hotel , felt a bit like an after thought & not really an hotel guest ..on the plus side though the bed was extremely comfy but the room was very hot , we did however have a nice nights sleep , would definitely love to return but maybe next time make it into the main hotel Collapse

Stayed for 2 nights. Requested a complimentary upgrade on the booking as it was our anniversary which they they honoured to a room called the Chandler Suite. Room (actually 2, lounge and separate bedroom) lovely although the bath whirlpool option did not work which was a shame but didn't like to complain! Nice bar to relax in. Bar menu good with a wide range of options of food/drinks. Parking is onsite and £7 for 24hours. Tell them at reception that you are in their carpark and they will take your reg for the discounted price. Breakfast good with the usual continental buffet. We asked for poached eggs which were well cooked. The hotel has a gym with plenty of kit and an indoor pool but didn't use. Durham is a beautiful City to walk round. The castle and cathedral are worth a visit as are the walks round the river. Would recommend this hotel. Collapse

We did 4 weeks in Britain, mainly in B&Bs, but I booked this hotel for its location and value. It was just want we needed for our stay there. Also, we had problems with our rental car recognizing the location of the hotel, so we called the hotel and they guided us to the hotel with my wife on the phone and me driving. The hotel accommodations were very good and a great value. Breakfast was not free, but the price was not bad for a hot breakfast buffet. Only issue we had in the dining room was that some of the staff were less than energetic in their service. Still, others were great. Parking was free and I recommend this hotel for your Durham visit. Love this hotel, stayed in it 3 times now over the years, one being a New years party and it never fails to deliver. yes if may need a refurbish it is looking a bit tired but its clean and comfy, Its in a great location and the beds and pillows are so comfy. But what makes this hotel is the wonderful staff, they should be proud of themselves. Ate here one evening and had ham sandwich and chips, must say one of the best quick and easy meals I have had. Breakfast was good, plenty of variety and cooked well. Would not stay anywhere else on visits to Durham. Collapse
