The hotel looks welcoming and impressive ,it is a fair distance from the center of Rome if you are thinking of walking to any tourist attractions, although the hotel does run a free bus shuttle service from 8 am till 11 pm to the centre of Rome from there the train service is fairly cheap(7 euros for 24 hours which covers the whole of Rome). The hotel is set up a very steep area which requires walking and up lots of steps too. we arrived just before 12 and our room wasn't ready so the receptionist offered us a complimentry coffee in the lounge area ( very welcome after our journey). Our room was clean, comfortable and perfect for us.There is a safe in the room, hairdryer, lots of storage, but no coffee/tea facilities which to us was very important, yes you could call down (at a cost)but we felt it should be standard. We ate in the hotel restaurant that evening and food and service was ok, nothing spectacular. The hotel offers a phone for you to take out and about that you use for maps, food, attractions etc, which we took advantage of and actually found it very helpful as we had no internet access when out and about to Google maps. There is a small grocery store at the end of the road which was handy for buying bottles of water ,snacks (saves paying the extortionet prices in the attractions).Overall a fantastic hotel with very attentive staff, especially the receptionist called Fredericka who always had a wonderful smile to welcome you back, and who knew your room number without asking( small things like this always make us feel special!)we would like to make a mention about her as she really went out of her way and we felt like nothing was too much trouble. My husband bought us a 3 day break in Rome at this hotel as we always said that we'd return to see what we'd missed 11 years ago on our first holiday together. He bought this trip through Voyage Prive flying from Manchester to Ciampino Airport. Transfers to and from the hotel were not included so we ended up getting the bus from outside the Airport to the Termini (main Rome Railway Station) for 4 Euros each and then getting a taxi to the hotel for 20 Euros. With hindsight we should have purchased a 3 day Metro (underground) ticket and taken the Metro to Flaminio station then called the Hotel who would've sent the shuttle bus down to get us - much cheaper. However, we didn't know that. The hotel will collect you & return you to the Airport but that costs 110 Euros for both ways. The hotel is lovely, quite grand but not daunting. Our room was at the front of the hotel but wasn't noisy as the road is not that busy. It had a lovely wooden floor and they'd pushed 2 single beds together so although it looked like a huge bed when we got in there, it was in fact 2 beds with a man trap in the middle :-D ! There was a free safe and a wardrobe with a light in it (I want one!). The bedroom & bathroom were very clean, the bathroom had a fixed hairdryer, but there was a shower curtain not a screen in the bathroom that tried to stick to you when you were in there (ugh, a personal pet hate of mine!) There were no tea or coffee making facilities which would have been nice, but there was Room Service. The Breakfast was plentiful and we had our evening meal there on the first night which was very nice although pricey. The staff were very helpful & courteous. The shuttle bus down to Flaminio station needs to be booked in advance, it's not a circular service all day. You can walk down the hill a short way and get the Metro 1 stop then you are on the main lines if you don't want to wait for the bus. Ask at Reception about this. On the whole, it was a lovely city hotel, not right in the centre but only a short way out and once you know the Metro, it's no problem. Collapse

We arrived at the hotel on a Friday Evening and both of us were impressed with the grandeur of the hotel itself upon arrival but at the end of our stay I think our only way to describe the hotel is pretentious. The check in was very swift and off we went to our room. It was small but enough space for the pair of us and the bathroom was fine too. What I feel was missing was a kettle. What can I say I like a cup of coffee when I wake up, but that's my personal preference, maybe I've been spoilt in every other single hotel I have stayed in, but that aside, a couple of little bottles of water wouldn't have gone a miss. My boyfriend needed to take some painkillers and we had to use the minibar for water (at €3 a bottle - a bit steep for a small bottle of water). Also you cannot change or turn off the high heating setting in the room - even with the window open it was quite uncomfortable. I would say the bed was uncomfortable and the water in the bathroom didn't get very hot but again I think this might be down to personal preference. We did go and speak to reception (well Alessandro - he's the only one who can speak some what fluent English) as I was looking for an iron. Well once they figured out what I was talking about they seemed bewildered that I would even dream of ironing something myself and told me they had a ironing service - at a cost and all information of everything we needed to know was in the room. Yes the entire table in the room is filled with nothing but laminated info cards. The room did have a portable smart phone map service that you could take out with you, but after reading all the penalties on the laminated info card, I decided I'd rather use my own phone at my own peril. The shuttle service is great, it puts you in a central location to go and explore. If you've had a long day, I do recommend the room service menu. And if you're also like me and like a morning tea or coffee before doing any exploring, their coffee is quite nice but if you do order anything to your room there is 20% room service tax charged for every item. Although we really enjoyed our time in Rome itself, we just felt the hotel were trying to make money by withholding basic amenities. If you've managed to make it to the end of this review, a bonus to bare in mind is romecabsbooking.com €29 Euro from fiumincino airport to your hotel. Collapse

Location: The hotel is situated a good hours walk from the main station and half hour from Rome center but the hotel offer a free mini bus that you can book in a morning. It runs every hour and was always on time. This takes you to one side of the center but the metro is cheap and right next to the drop off. (Beware, the driving in Rome is a little more erratic than in England!) It's behind a lovely park land. Worth a walk through. Staff: All lovely and spoke fantastic English. Food: Only had breakfast but it was very nice. Rooms: Very charming. You get a smart phone in each room that has access to maps on it. This was extremely useful! Improvements: When booking on Expedia it didn't mention the free mini bus. This was a great bonus because I knew we would be a little far out. Might be good to mention? The bathroom door was a little stiff and I thought I'd locked myself in the first time! Odd one, the toilet seat was very small! I'm not a big person and I couldn't fit on it without turning on the side!? Which meant my larger other half could barely sit down! Not the worst problem in the world, we just found it a bit odd and funny! Could possibly do with a few touch ups here and there decoration wise. Overall: Loved this hotel, would return. Collapse
