Stayed 2 nights before a cruise and 1 night after the cruise. Great hotel, quiet, great area of Rome. Small grocery around corner for wine and snacks. Breakfast in the morning is outstanding. Highly recommend staying there.

This was a very nice place to stay. The location is a bit off the beaten path and not located in the tourist section of Rome. The lobby was tasteful and the staff were very pleasant. The shuttle bus driver was THE BEST. He was super-friendly, efficient and loved to sing to WHAM on the radio...which was a treat!! The waiter and waitress during breakfast were also superb. The rooms were very, very clean. Wood floors (any hotel with hard flooring is a huge plus for me) and a nice, big bed. We stayed in room 410 (which was very small) and it was located a little too close to the elevator, but the elevator was pretty quiet and we always use a "white noise" app on our phone to drown out any noise in the hotel room. The room had a marvelous balcony overlooking very nice apartment buildings. The shower was spotless and so was the entire bathroom. The housekeeping staff do a fantastic job at cleaning the rooms and should be rewarded (as should all the staff at the hotel). This was our 7th time in Rome. Normally we rent an entire apartment because we like to cook our own food, but we were here this time for a very short time and this was the perfect place. There is a grocery store a few meters up the street if you want to get anything to eat. The next time we go to Rome (in another couple of weeks), we will try to stay here. The breakfast was fantastic. As a gluten free, vegetarian couple we usually find it hard to get a good breakfast. The Duke Hotel has great fresh fruit (watermelon, oranges, kiwi), and some canned fruit (peaches, pears). Scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, gluten free croissants (which were very good), gluten free corn flakes and biscuits. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. Collapse

First the positives...it was a nice clean hotel. The restaurant was good but a bit pricey as hotel restaurants go. The staff was very nice and friendly and accommodating. The room I was in 225 was a nice big room. Bed was too hard for my comfort. Not all of them are. My friends (a couple) were in room 410 and it was a tiny, tiny room. Now for the issues: although the hotel says air conditioning they do not turn it on until after May 15th. I was there for 2 nights May 8th and 9th. It was pleasant outside, but the room was warn and stuffy. Hotel indicated the same goes for heating, so call and make sure air and heat will be working when you book. The main complaint is the shuttle. This hotel is VERY out of the way. There is no walking to the closest Piazza. In the 2 days were were there we got the shuttle the day we checked in. When we were ready to go back to the hotel we called for the shuttle and it was full so we would to have waited over 2-1/2 hours. The shuttle only goes on certain times and it is a 6 passenger van. Needless to say we ended up taking taxi's to and from the hotel to the Piazza which was between 10-12 euros. From the Piazza it was only a 10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps. From the hotel to the Piazza was a long walk maybe 45 minutes and many hills. The hotel is in such a remote private residence neighborhood we would have never have found it walking back. Collapse

The hotel is slightly outside the centre of Rome, in a peaceful, though built-up area which makes it a great place to return to to relax after the hustle and bustle of the city. A free shuttle is available to get to the edge of the city centre and back. It takes just a few minutes and runs more-or-less twice an hour each way. However, it only has capacity for 6 people and can get booked up at popular times. Our room was clean and pleasant with a walk-in wardrobe and large bathroom. There wasn't a view out of the windows though and the bed was very firm. Most staff were very friendly and helpful, just a couple who let the rest down. The restaurant food was excellent, but limited choice. There's free wifi and it provides good access speeds. They also provide a smartphone you can use during the stay but we didn't bother so not sure how good it is. Collapse

The hotel is not in the center of Rome but in a quiet place. The shuttle to the Piazza del Popolo is comfortable and easy to booking in advance. We are four people and we can booking without problems. The shuttle was always at time. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the bed quite large for the European standards. The bathroom full and clean. The lounges very nice and pleasants. The breakfast is recommended: abundant and varied. The best thing for me was the free mobile phone that you have in the room: you can use it as guide for Rome and access to Internet all the day. As we have two rooms, we use it to get in touch with sons the easily in the crowed tourist places. The WiFi also performs well in the rooms and the lounges. Collapse
