This is an expensive resort - however the room quality and service standards do not meet expectations. Our room was pretty small and had limited/ no view. A cleaners cupboard was right outside our door which meant it became very noisy from around 7.00am onwards. Also, people were intent on partying well into the night in rooms around us - with noise from music, doors slamming and shouting up until 3.00 - 4.00 am. The rooms do not appear to be adequately noise insulated which makes it hard to sleep. Food quality in restaurants was fairly good - but comes with an expensive price tag. Really ? - US$ 130 for a wine that costs $10 in a US liquor store? Service seemed to be non existent. Not that anyone was rude - but servicing customers just didn't seem like a high priority. Also - be aware that there is construction happening all around the hotel. Overall - pretty disappointing. We will look for somewhere different next time we visit Dubai. Collapse

dubai is like a big open air disco. this hotel is the part of this disco, but where the empty glasses stays. its very old and not renewed. it has a beach. this is the only plus how ever it is allmost closed with some restaurants and the marina. the rooms are cold. the standart rooms are like prison. just a 1 meter window which cant get direct sun light. the bars and the clubs inside are not very reachable anytime. they have a constrait of couple. so dont trust to these clubs. sho cho is nice. especially on sunday nights its full of expands. thursday also look great in this sushi restaurant. th breakfast is not good, not over the avarage. and the place of the hotel is away from jbr which offers lots of good restaurants shopping and beaches. Unfortunately this resort although sounded great, was surrounded by construction. The private beach looks out to construction and with the port next door you feel like you're swimming in the oils of the big ships. The pools are nice if you wish to stay in the resort and not leave. The location I struggled with. Everything in Dubai is so far apart. If you want to go anywhere you have to grab a taxi. The nearby beaches don't exist as it's all construction. The closest thing I could find within a 10 min walk was a Starbucks and Maccas. The room was lovely though. Collapse

The Hotel itself had pleasant rooms but the air conditioning was colder than the mini bar. Not that you want to use the mini bar very often as this Hotel and resort in general are just taking the p--s with the prices they charge! We booked a room only package as we like to eat out. Little did we know how expensive it would be to eat and drink both in the Hotel and outside. We had heard that it was a little more expensive to buy alcohol due to the fact that it was a muslim country. I am by no means rich and no means poor. A working class individual who likes to go on holidays. My wife and i have been all over the world and if you thought Geneva was expensive for drinks - try Dubai!! Extortionate prices. One example i will give you is for a simple bottle of still water - Forget the alcohol for a minute. It worked out at £8 for a 75cl bottle of STILL water. - YES a bottle of water!! We then went for a drink at the beach bar as the waiter told us they had a 'Happy Hour'. My idea of a happy hour is probably the same as yours - Buy one get one free or at the very least half price or even 25% discount. Not here! they give you a 10% discount on your £12 pint of lager!!! We then decided to go on a day trip to take in the sights - We paid about £500 to go on a whirlwind tour of Dubai. The supposedly shopping visit to the SOUK was a joke! It took longer for the guide to tell us where to meet than it did for the visit. We got about 10 minutes to look around and he wanted us back on the mini bus! We then went to the Tallest building in Dubai - Great View of the desert and the building site which is Dubai! Our guide then lost us as we headed for the Aquarium and when we eventually found him and our group we spent 15 minutes in there before we were ushered out. So the shopping in the Dubai mall was non - existent as we were again told we needed to be back on the mini bus. We then headed for the Palm island which was supposed to be a tour. What a joke!!! We got off the mini bus at the large hotel - The atlantis. The guide told us to get a quick photo in front of it while the bus turned around and we were pushed back on to the bus! Some tour of Palm island that was. We never even got to go into the Hotel!! Dubai Marina was supposed to on the tour. It wasnt until we got to it that the guide told us that it was shut for the holidays! Another quick photo and back on the bus. When we got back to the hotel and complained to the hotel rep who sold us the tour, he said he would see what he could after much harrassment from us. We eventually got about £50 back which was better than nothing! A tip if you do ever go to this hotel, or it's too late because you have already booked! - Spinneys supermarket over the road sells fresh produce and breakfast items, currency exchange and cigarettes if you need them. A lot cheaper than the £30 per head buffet breakfast they serve in the hotel. If this 4 star hotel and the general attitude of people in and around Dubai is the best they can do then you can keep it. Extortionate pricing for everything including the water. The attitude of the general public and some staff in various establishments will keep me away from this place forever. They may have a great marketing machine but once word spreads that it is basically Just a Money Grabbing place who don't really give a hoot about service (especially if you're a foreigner) then the tourism will hopefully dry up. I will personally tell everyone and anyone who wants to know that its the worst place i have ever been- and i've been around, trust me. Collapse
