I was skeptical about the hotel at first. I even tried to cancel thinking I had a better deal. We stayed in room 275 (corner room, right over naked taco with a view of the lobby across the small courtyard). Pros - The design concept is nice. Staff is nice and definitely helpful. Naked Taco!!! (Try the fried chicken taco... also the tattooed chick is cool. The older Cuban gentleman is great. The older black guy is amazingly hilarious). They offer an area on the beach for free towels and chairs (although you have to walk almost 3 blocks to get there). And they give you hotel flip flops and a robe. I used the flip flops for everything (specifically shower shoes and quick walks across the street to the little market). They charge $15 for beach umbrellas btw. The bed and pillows are comfy. Cons - The worst possible thing you will encounter at this hotel is the noise. Their walls are thin, and their windows ARE NOT sound proof. You. Hear. Everything. Being that our room windows faced the front (Collins) and middle (courtyard) we heard people talking, cars honking, the garbage truck sounds like he's in your room, construction, people yelling, everything. We could also hear the people in the next room, hallways, etc. There are no full body mirrors. The lighting isn't good for putting on makeup (ladies, or gents lol). There are no towel racks or hooks to hang your towels. It's a boutique hotel so the cleaning isn't as detailed. Dusty in a few places. Tiny mold in the shower. Chipped tile. Cigarette butt left on floor. In the second building where we stayed (Naked Taco building) you have to go through the actual restaurant to get to your room. All in all, we had fun. We made due with what we had. We'd stay again if we had to. Collapse
Location works, Many other things don't

The key to a good stay at the Dream South Beach is not to expect too much. The positives are the location (perfect) the cleanliness of the room (good for South Beach) and the general design aesthetic of the pace (a nice Moorish take on Deco in an old building). The problems are also relatively minor. The room is small (but virtually every room in South Beach is, just accept it), the pool is small and overrun with some questionable patrons (but again, so are most pools in South Beach), and the elevators, MY GOD the elevators are slow. To elaborate here, the elevators are REALLY slow and the steps are not logical and keys don't seem to work to open doors in stairwells. I would stay at the Dream again with a few caveats: I would insist on a high floor and preferably in the Tudor building. My first room was on "Level 1" which was just a few flights up from a noisy lobby with a window that faced directly onto a bar of a neighboring hotel. No thanks. I get this is South Beach and things are close and loud, but this was insane. I asked for a room change and got a much better spot on 3rd floor with more light and just street noise as opposed to bar noise. I also think the fact that rooms are so small and the bathrooms so very not private that traveling with anyone other than yourself or someone you are very comfortable with is not advised. I am not sure i could fit more than one carryon bag on the floor and the shower is pretty much in the middle of the room. Also, enough with the terrible pool parties. Dear Dream: Just leave the pool to guests and stop trying to "be" a destination. The elevators can barely get me to my room in under 10 minutes much less transport a terrible crowd of people to a terrible party on the roof. That said, the rooms are clean, well designed and simple. The location is ideal. Just don't expect too much and you'll be fine. Collapse

Having read a ton of reviews before, I was not expecting the so-called "Silver Deluxe King" room to be anything special. Indeed, it wasn't. Room barely offered any natural light and it was really tight, to the point where only one carry-on luggage could be open at a time. Even though their website says that bookings made directly with them are eligible for complimentary room upgrade depending on availability, we didn't get one (supposedly they were fully booked on random, off-peak Sunday and Monday nights? Hm). I specifically asked on my reservation and, once again upon check-in, for a quiet room. Still, there was a LOT of noise coming from the other guest rooms (which the hotel cannot fully control, I understand that). Someone was blasting loud music all day on Sunday but since we were in and out of the hotel we did not say anything then. That night, though, the next-door hotel/restaurant had live loud music going on at 1am and it was impossible to sleep. We talked to the front desk, who said "yeah, I know, unfortunately I can only call the cops at 2:01am". The next day we requested to be moved to a different room, which was done while we were away during the day. The new room reeked of cigarette smoke; it was impossible to stand there and not cough. So we had to call the front desk, whom sent someone right away. The bellboy immediately agreed with us that the smell was nasty - which begs the question: couldn't they notice that when they moved our luggage there in the first place, instead of just giving it to us like that? Okay, time to see if the third time would be the charm. Now we've got a room facing the inner court, which was not really quiet but much more reasonable than the previous one. Then I thought again... did it mean anything that I specifically asked for a quiet room a month in advance and repeated such request two days before through email and yet another time at check in? I suspect it didn't. Long story short: customer service needs to improve a whole lot... even though they were responsive once contacted, front desk did not seem to actively try to prevent all of the above from happening in the first place. Also, it seems like this is mostly a hotel for party people who clearly don't care about their next-door guests, which is aggravated by the next-door restaurant with live (I mean, loud) music. Consider yourself warned. Collapse

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in December while visiting Miami and we loved it! We were greeted at the door and check-in was fast, we were also provided with complimentary champagne. The rooms are uniquely designed and great value for money. The bed is very comfortable, the mini-bar is well stocked, the room-service is efficient and the cleanliness is high. Hotel is in good proximity to the beachfront, main shopping strip and bars and restaurants. I would definitely stay again on our next trip to Miami. Collapse
