There are lots of restaurants close by and right by the subway. Very close to everything you could want or need. Lights are bright and you need to make sure your drapes are closed at night if that bothers you.

My sister and I visited this hotel to celebrate my 60th birthday. As native New Yorkers we know a good thing when we see one. This hotel room was gorgeous, full of amenities -- even a toothbrush and toothpaste was added as per my complimentary request beforehand! The topper was the breakfast buffet. While the chef was cooking my incredible omelet he noticed my hat with "60" emblazoned on it. He insisted I couldn't be 60 and that I looked great for my age. I said it was good genes and showed him a photo of my mom who just turned 80! We had a good laugh and I went back to the table to eat. About five minutes later he appeared with a dish and set it down. It was a chocolate mini bundt cake with strawberries and whipped cream. Best of all, happy birthday was written in chocolate. Thank you Eugene, my chef, for making my birthday so special! Thank you to the front desk for being so helpful and sweet! Collapse

We stayed here for four nights in January. Since we had two adults and a teenager, we wanted more than just your standard two beds. Having the two doubles in one room and the sofa bed in the other was perfect. The bathroom was large as well. I was worried about being right in the center of Times Square in terms of noise and crowds but it was never an issue. We requested a high room (got a room on the 40th floor) and never heard street noise. Also, the ladies at the concierge desk were always so helpful, especially in double checking subway delays, etc. From our fairly central location, we were able to spend each day in a different section of New York. Others had mentioned that the rooms were dated; there was rust around the back of the toilet, but overall I felt the room was clean and not noticeably dated. Only minor issues were the wet bar sink water was cloudy and fizzing so we avoided using that water and the air vent was pretty loud but we got used to it. These really didn't affect our overall enjoyment of the stay and we would definitely recommend this hotel to those traveling to NYC, especially families who want to spread out and have a little more room. We stayed at the DoubleTree Suites- Times Square in November 2016. My 15-year old son suffered a stroke back in August and because he is not able to get his driver's license, we decided to celebrate his 16th birthday in NYC. What an amazing experience! From the front desk representatives to the bellmen, the service was impeccable! I wanted to send an extra THANK YOU to Eddie, the bellman who went out of his way to speak to my son and ask how he was doing every time he saw us. I also wanted to thank BRYAN JOSEPH, the Front Office Manager. We arrived back in our room and he sent my son a designer Chocolate Cab with fruit! WOW! It has been a rough road for our family and your kindness made our trip AMAZING! Thank you so much for such professionalism and for making our trip so special! We will never stay anywhere else but with YOU! Thank you! Collapse
