By the standards of location, location, location, the Double Tree Suites is a perfect location for a theater trip to New York. Located right on Times Square, with easy access to the theater district, a traveler to New York for theater couldn't ask for a better location. What prevents this hotel from being truly outstanding lies in the small details. The room is very quiet, and there was no noise from Times Square which was lovely. A very minor, but nice touch would have been small bottles of water in the room. On my first day, I inadvertently missed breakfast, arriving at the Ginger Restaurant to see a sign that indicated that they were closed. I asked the nice lady from Housekeeping, who said she thought they re-opened at 2 pm (a bit late for lunch). Undeterred, I went to the lobby bar, where the bartender told me they'd JUST closed and would re-open in a half-hour. He helpfully suggested the shop in the lobby. Is it really so very difficult to coordinate schedules so that a guest can obtain a cup of coffee? Really? Another evening, after returning from a show I ordered from Room Service, admittedly close to their closing time. The room service waiter refused to take either my credit card or my cash, my only option was to sign the check to my room. Yes, these are minor quibbles, but they are the difference between a good hotel experience and an excellent or outstanding hotel experience. I'd still stay there again, as the location was outstanding. Also, I shared a room with someone who'd left a jacket in the room, and when they called, the jacket was there, and ready to be picked up. I received directions from a Concierge in training who did a remarkably good job on giving me directions. So, I'd like to see this excellent property build on it's strengths and become the truly outstanding property that it can be. Collapse

Located in Times Square (not necessarily a positive), but if you get a corner room (northwest I believe) you can have a view of parts of Time Square and Central Park. Got solicited for drugs on first exiting the hotel after checking in so there's that. Reserved a King Bed Suite, but got a Queen Bed when I checked in and the room wasn't a true suite, more of a curved regular hotel room Staff was fine, room was clean, no other issues with stay. Food at the in house restaurant was overpriced for quality. Will probably try a different hotel next time I'm in town. Collapse

The location is AMAZING. The lobby was right in front of the TCTS booth in Times Square and every place that we wanted to visit was in walking distance. The subway station was literally right next door to the hotel. Our room overlooked Times Square. The staff members that we had contact with were all polite and helpful. We paid a little extra to purchase the breakfast package, but it wasn't worth the $32 extra a day! It was a very sparse, bland, serve yourself buffet. Your money would be better spent stepping out onto the street and eating at a local cafe. The restaurant was a depressing room that gave no sense of location and had very minimal decor. The room was well worn and unappealing. The sitting area had no lights, making it unusable in the evenings, and the couch was backed up against the window so that we couldn't see out. We had to stand on the couch to open and close the drapes. The bathroom had peeling paint and the shower was full of mold. The shower door was dented, which let tons of water leak onto the floor. There were very few plugs and inadequate space for our clothes in a cheap, fiberboard wardrobe. There was a mini-fridge, which didn't seem to be working, and a coffee maker. Know that if you chose this property, you are paying for the fabulous location. Even though you will be paying premium prices, you will be staying in a room that is utilitarian, but not at all luxurious. We had definitely hoped for a little more upscale surroundings than we found there. Collapse
