Nice, comfortable hotel a little far from the nearest T stop

The hotel was very pleasant. Staff didn't seem to know how to address a few small problems. Overall, a good stay, and nice to be able to self-park, but the location wasn't great for Cambridge or Boston.

Easy walk to Harvard Square and Cambridge. Best price I found for a suite so my son had a separate area...even with the $40 for parking added in. Not a great location if you are doing up the tourist areas as it is a distance from there....but for our purposes it was great. Only used the shuttle once because it wasn't frequent and we were on a hectic schedule. Very helpful and polite staff. Our booking indicated that we were getting a sofa bed...and I even called the hotel to confirm this and was told "yes". There was not sofa bed in our room....but we called the front desk and had a cot in the room within 5 minutes. Ask for a room with a river view...absolutely beautiful. Breakfast is very expensive...our only disappointment...I'm used to getting a free breakfast. Collapse

The only reason I can't give it an excellent rating involves a few areas that need improvement. First the good: contrary to other reviews, the hotel is easy to find and easy to pull into. All rooms have been finished renovating and are beautiful. Great selection on carpet and finishes! Note: Instead of a sofa bed as might be indicated on their website, they now offer Murphy style beds that are hidden in a cabinet. Great beds and very comfy. Suggestions to patrons: Select a high floor. There is a busy jazz club and meeting rooms on the lower floors. The entire hotel is an atrium so the noise travels up. Higher floors will be a bit better. Parking: They have a multi level lot and they charge for it, just like all the other Boston Hotels. However, the frustration is that on 2 nights we literally got the last available spot in the lot due to multiple functions at the hotel. They should give priority to hotel guests over visitors for parking or hire a valet to handle the jazz club visitors and the event visitors. Front Desk - Very Friendly Staff - however I think they are short staffed. Check in was fine but any time I contemplated purchasing the overpriced food - $4.00 for a small bottle of coke (and I live in NY and even I think that is overcharging) there were long lines and I would have to wait to buy anything needed for the nice kitchenette that is in each room. They need to find a way for guests to swipe when they want food. I only bought once since the lines were ridiculous. Coffee in room was good but the creamers were spoiled and it was obvious that the cleaning staff does not replace them often enough. Noise: Even on a high floor the doors make alot of noise. They slam shut so loud that it shakes all the neighboring rooms! they need to be adjusted. Travel: If you don't want to drive you must take an Uber or their shuttle which does not run late at night. Therefore you are limited. Hotel is not walkable due to proximity to highways. Beautiful views of Charles River. Collapse
