This is a modern very comfortable hotel. Lots of interesting fall activity on the river. Free shuttle service is a real bonus. Trips to Harvard Square, the Boston Aquarium and to downtown Boston. As I remembers about every two hours between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Almost a necessity as there are no shops or restaurants in the immediate area of the hotel. Not a great waking area either. Two restaurants on site - a pub, a full service restaurant plus a main floor jazz club. If you would like to eat some meals or a snack in your room there is a shop selling frozen dinners and the like on site. To make this work there is a micro-wave oven and a coffee maker in the room. My upper floor room was excellent, large, with a separate sitting room - table and four chairs - great view of the river in two directions. Friendly and helpful staff - Double Tree a very nice place to stay. Collapse

I was recently asked by Hilton to take on the same status I hold at Marriott which is Platinum. I thought about doing so for a 90-day free trial. I left it in my in-box because I was interested to see how my experience would be this weekend at the Head of the Charles Regatta. As luck would have it one week before my stay I was sent an upgrade invite for two different options, a River-view and or Bi-Level Suite. I asked for either option. I was excited about the possibilities and then called the night before to see if there was any movement on my up-grade. I also asked for an early check-in which I was politely told by the front desk agent, that I needed to call in the AM. At 9 AM I called and asked about the upgrade and early check-in. The agent said my upgrade was approved and that my early check-in was approved. I arrived at the DoubleTree at 10:15AM and asked about my room. Yes, it was ready. “We have you on the 15th floor which is considered an upgrade.” I was then told it was room 1510. I asked if it was a river view and the guest relations person said it was not and that I was put on a higher floor. I asked her politely to find me a room with a river view and mentioned the two requests below. CAN I TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM IN THE ROOM,1510. I LITERALLY LOOKED AT HIGHWAY AND A CONSTRUCTION PIT FROM MY BED. Other guests in our party, (there ear nearly 30+) have amazing views of the river and I have a nice view of the highway and construction pit. MANY OF THEM ARE NOT EVEN HILTON HONORS MEMBERS. I hold a silver level states which is not great but I do stay 15+ nights a year at Hilton properties. In the future I would recommend that guests are aware of FALSE EXPECTATIONS set by some random Corporate Hilton computer system. There is a reason I am a loyal Marriott traveler and this is one of them. DoubleTree Hilton you should be ashamed. This hotel is dated and is in need of a serious overhaul. Next Year I will stay across the river at the Courtyard Marriott. Collapse

We stayed over a weekend in October for a class reunion and had an amazing view of skullers on the Charles during the day and a full moon at night. Very convenient location just across the river from Cambridge and Harvard. The staff were great, the breakfast buffet very good and the bed extremely comfortable. Self-parking garage was handy, but cabs were also always available when we needed one. Highly recommend. Collapse

We stayed here for the Head of the Charles. Needless to say, it was a sold out night. Twice we needed the assistance of the front desk, and despite the fact that there were other guests needing attention at the same time, they tended to our needs and went the extra mile! Also to be recognized, the room (902) had perfect views of the river and was sparkling clean (as was the entire hotel). Can't wait to come back!! Collapse

This room is a river view room over the Charles River. We were able to watch the rowers every morning and had a very pretty sunrise view over the city and the river. The room is set up with the bedroom looking over the river. The sitting room was on the atrium side with a pull out Queen size couch, a table with 3 chairs and a tall backed upholstered chair. The room was very quiet, no noise from the adjoining rooms. The nosiest items in the room were the 2 doors, one to the bedroom and the other to the bath. Both doors required a firm pull to close and were noisy to open. Breakfast in the dining room had a well supplied cold table that was free with the Hilton Diamond level. If you wanted to upgrade to a cooked to order egg dish, it was $6. The lines were a bit long for the cooked to order egg on Sunday but were non-existent the rest of the 5 day stay. The dining room also has a view of the Charles river and is on the 2nd floor. The swimming pool was a bit small for laps but was adequate for kids to swim. The staff were great and we really appreciated the cookies. We were even given a set for on the road as we checked out. Parking could be accessed from the lobby with your key card for in and out entry. Some of the spaces were a bit tight so if you have a large vehicle, it may be tricky parking. Overall, we had a really nice day stay with family and would return again in the future. Collapse
