The hotel was easy to find via sat nav the post code brought me straight to the hotel entrance where I was greeted with ample parking. It's worth signing up for Hilton honors membership in advance, it doesn't cost anything extra and there are often little perks which make your stay that little bit nicer. I book my accommodation mainly though hotels.com so I miss out on earning the points however you can still benefit from some of the extras such as complimentary wifi, here you an search for hhonours and enter code full2017 to access. I booked a deluxe room and was greeted with a fresh cookie which was a nice touch, also my room had a couple of complimentary bottles of still water plus for choosing a deluxe room received a complimentary drinks voucher to use with room service or in the restaurant. As I had to work late, I chose room service (£5 tray charge) for convenience and ordered the Thai green curry which was served with poppodoms and the warm brownie with salted caramel ice cream for dessert, the food presentation looked perfect and the taste was sensational, thank you! I travel a lot with work and am always apprehensive when trying a new hotel as have experienced some disasters...this lovely hotel exceeded expectation, had delicious food, helpful room service staff and most welcoming and informative staff on reception. *edit after check out - only negative was that a tip was added to my bill on checkout...the tray charge was already £5 so any tips should be discretionary and down to me to decide whether to include or not certainly shouldn't be the hotels decision- you have put me off returning by sneaking extra costs on to the bill, disappointed . We booked 2 rooms some months in advance as my step son had a training weekend for his paralympic sport, 2 rooms, one accessible. Learning from previous experiences it is our practice to ring the hotel we have booked a day or two in advance to ask that they allocate the 2 rooms as close together as possible. I did this with the Hilton and it was no trouble at all, rooms 19 and 20 basically opposite each other. We must have found a good deal for this stay as we would normally select a Premier Inn or Travelodge but the difference! My wife and I could actually walk down the corridor to our room side by side with room to spare, at a Travelodge or Premier Inn it;s normally in single file. Rooms were bigger than normal, good hanging space, bathroom clean and well fitted with toiletries. Accessible room even bigger. No hotel room is truly disabled accessible, most have larger doors, slightly larger room and bathroom , hand grab rails in the bathroom but no walk in shower or suitable bath but that's par for the course and we no longer expect this level of access. We were told that the exension o the hotel currently being built would have such facilities for their disabled rooms so that was good Check in was smooth with the added bonus of free cookies! We had dinner in the hotel on Saturday night. I tried to book for 7:00pm but was told the restauarant was full between 7 and 8:00pm so I booked for their opening time of 6:30pm. Arriving on time we were kept waiting for a few minutes before being seated. The restaurant was empty and stayed empty until about 7:15 when a pre booked party of about 20 people arrived and were seated at a specially prepared and partioned off are during tthe next 20 minutes 4 more couple came in so I'm not sure where the 'full' was as there were dozens of chairs at tables unoccupied. Food was OK but pricey, 2 starters and 3 min courses, a glass of wine, bacardi and orange and a coke was a significant £75. This would be around £20 more than I would normally expect to pay. The spa was fully booked so couldn't sample it. Overall a reasonably good experience, if we find the right deal we would return Collapse

Best chocolate cookies and warm water in the pool. Good location for trips to Sheffield (cheap day rider includes bus and excellent trams), Manchester, Nottingham, York and visit friends in Matlock and Derby.

Visited recently on a spa day offer. I was disappointed with the mini treatments because I opted for a mini manicure and pedicure. This consisted of literally having nails filed and painted. I appreciate this is only a mini treatment but did expect a small hand/foot massage to be included, especially as one of the group who had the same treatments with a different lady had a hand/foot massage. Staff in the spa reception area were friendly, facilities were adequate. If you are wanting a relaxing day I'd suggest going during a weekday as the pool was quite busy with hotel guests which is only to be expected on a Saturday. My only suggestion for improvement would be to check the changing area more frequently as every time I went in the floor was soaking wet. Collapse
