This is a four star hotel. However there are some difficulties. Firstly it is in a very isolated position. There is a free shuttle to the beach (which is too far to walk down a very steep hill) but this does not take you to the centre of town and it's another hours walk to the centre/marina/bus station. The nearest super market can also be reached by a short shuttle ride up a very steep hill and about 15 minutes walk back. When asked the staff could not give accurate information as to when the supermarket is open. Also as you can see from the picture there is extensive and noisy construction work surrounding the hotel especially on the Western side - it was therefore not the peaceful location I had hoped for. The infinity pool is nice, but beware there is a very expensive charge of 25 Euros for half a days use of the beds or 40 Euros full day. I do think the music around the pools is too loud. The pools are clean and large but only 1. 40m deep. The sun beds around the lower pool are free but of poor quality (the first one I tried was broken) and not padded. The food is of a good standard but far less extensive than other 4 star hotels I have stayed in. The hotel is very modern in design. My room was ok but the single beds basic and not very comfortable. Uniquely in my experience the hotel accepts no responsibility for your valuables even if they are in the hotel safe! Also uniquely there are no books available to read and no maps or local information provided at reception apart from shuttle times. The previous month I stayed at the Melia Torremolinos which was cheaper but far superior. Rooms service is good and the hotel is kept very clean. Overall very disappointing. Collapse

When we booked this hotel we tought we would have to travel far to the beach and restuarants. We were right with that! BUT... this resort is classy in everyway that there really is no need to venture out regularly. The food is amazing and better than anything we has outside the resort. The staff are friendly, professional and extremely helpful. The resort itself is a very high quality establishment, very clean, well looked after and trendy! Ideally suited to adults, the infinity pool on the rooftop is where we found ourselves everyday after the gym for a spot of light lunch. Heading back for a nightcap is also a delight on the rooftop. We stayed here for 3 nights and it was so good we went back for a night with family whilst we was on holiday in Benalmadena. The whole feel of the hotel, its simplistic looks matched well with modern design makes it feel light an airy. It is a little off the beaten track but an hourly free land train or a 20 minute walk gets you to the main train station at Carvajal (sort of pronounced Cara'va'hal) or next stop the beach. The train link is amazing you can get anywhere for next to nothing. We when to a different resort every day and another every night to make the most of it. The last day we spent in the affinity pool which was amazing and the staff up there are great. The breakfast is faultless, we cannot comment on the restaurants as we was aleays eating out. It takes an hour to walk from the hotel to Fuengirola or 10 minutes on the train which is great for the kids so if your going head for the marina and if you have no kids finish the night in Pogs Irish Bar. Overall this is a great hotel, did I mention the big hill? Don't let it put you off its a great walk down but a hellish walk up which is impossible with a case. Location is fab its central and so easy to get to. Just jump on the train straight from Malaga airport. Don't bother with taxis or transfers. Get the train then jump in a taxi from the station (down the steps side of the station if there is none waiting) which is a 5 minute journey up the hill. Definite 5 star. Collapse
